Panasonic's "Ghost" faceplate is so easy to use, it's spooky! Just touch the jet black display panel of the CQ-HR1003U CD receiver, and the receiver winks to life. The controls change according to which menu you're using, making it a snap to move through the system. Choose from seven different display colors to match your dash lighting or your mood. Touch Sensor Screen: Since the CQ-HR1003U has a touch sensor screen, a light touch of your fingertip is all it takes to perform most operations. Large text and button graphics make the display easy to read and easy to use. There is a different layout for each mode, allowing the interface to remain clear and understandable.
"Ghost" Blackout Panel: When the unit is off, the display turns completely off. With the display illumination off, all you see is a flat, blank, gloss-black front panel, so it appears as though there isn't a radio in the dash. For added security, you can detach the panel and take it with you.
Shutter LCD: This unit uses a shutter LCD to deliver a sharp color display.
Customizable Display Colors: You can choose one of the following colors for the display: Fire (red), Twilight (purple), Sky (blue), Ocean (aqua blue), Forest (green), Sun (yellow), Snow (white), Level (changes color according to the volume level), or Storm (cycles through all the colors).
Spectrum Analyzer Display Patterns: You can select from 5 different spectrum analyzer display patterns.
Dimmer: You may choose one of the following display brightness settings: Bright, Medium, or Dark.
MOSFET50 Amplifier: This receiver is equipped with a 50 watts x 4 (peak) MOSFET amplifier for low distortion and high power output.
S-HDB (Super High Definition Bass): This feature accentuates bass output even at high volumes. This is different from ordinary loudness controls that often become ineffective when volume is raised. You may select "BOOM" (strong bass boost), "TIGHT" (moderately emphasized bass), or "Off".
Sirius Satellite Radio: The CQ-HR1003U can control an optional Sirius Satellite Radio tuner by Panasonic (item #133SRT100). In addition to the Sirius tuner, you will need an antenna and subscription in order to receive Sirius Satellite Radio programming.
Alphatuner V: The tuner is designed to help suppress multi-path distortion and reduce the problem of radio signal reflections in metropolitan areas. It also features increased sensitivity for weak signal areas.
Subwoofer Preamp Outputs: In addition to the 5V front and rear preamp outputs, this unit has a set of 5V subwoofer preamp outputs. The subwoofer preamp outputs have a selectable low-pass crossover that can be set to 80Hz or 120Hz. Additionally, the subwoofer volume level is adjustable from -6dB to +6dB in 2dB increments.
Auxiliary Input: A set of female RCA jacks is provided to allow the connection of a portable audio source. Just connect your portable cassette, MD or MP3 player to this unit, and you can listen to the audio from the portable player through the speakers in your mobile audio system. The jacks are on a 6" long pigtail attached to the back of the unit.
Blinking Security Indicator: When the face is removed, a red LED blinks on the front panel of the radio. The security indicator can be deactivated.
Compatibility: This unit can control compatible 6-disc and 8-disc Panasonic CD changers.
Multiple Changer Control: Using the optional CA-CD55 dual changer adapter, you can control two compatible Panasonic changers with this head unit.
NoteDisplay Illumination/Clock Display: When the Display Setting has been set to clock, pressing and holding the source section on the display turns off audio output, but the clock display and display illumination remain on. When the Display Setting has not been set to clock, pressing and holding the source section of the display turns the unit off completely. This unit's clock is "keyed" only when the Display Setting has been set to clock.
