Why choose bookshelf speakers?

Bookshelf speakers may be small in size, but they can deliver surprisingly big sound. Some ultra-compact models even fit on a desktop. Most are right at home in tight spaces like shelves, so they're usually good choices for your home theater's rear channels. For the best performance, try placing bookshelf speakers on solid speaker stands to help the sound really "open up." If you want full bass impact, add a powered subwoofer and enjoy punchy sound that's as deeply satisfying as that of floor-standing speakers.

Our take on the Polk Audio RM6751

by Tom Mathew

Most home theater receivers nowadays can deliver surround sound through as many as seven speakers — even more in some cases. These single Polk satellite speakers make a great match for any Polk home theater speaker system, so you can add as many as you need for cutting-edge home theater enjoyment. The 1/2" tweeter and 3-1/2" woofer dish out clean, accurate sound. And keyhole slots on the back make these compact speakers easy to mount on your wall.

Highlights:

  • sold individually
  • bass-reflex (ported) design

    Features

Enclosure: The RM6751 features a non-resonant mineral-filled polypropylene enclosure for great looks and natural sound. The integrated baffle and grille design allows maximum sound dispersion with minimum diffraction for superior imaging and room-filling sound.

Drivers: The drivers used in the RM6751 speaker are as follows:

    • Midrange: The satellite features a 3-1/2" polymer composite cone, which is lightweight and efficient, resulting in clear, distortion-free midrange.
    • Tweeter: The RM6751 has a high-performance 1/2" silk/polymer composite semi-dome tweeter for sweet highs and more lifelike imaging.

Power Port: The RM6751 features a Power Port Bass Vent on the back of the enclosure to extend and strengthen the lower-midrange performance for a seamless blend with your system's subwoofer output.

Mounting Options: The RM6751 can be placed on a shelf or table top without a stand due to its flat base (self adhesive rubber feet are supplied). The satellite can be wall mounted using an optional wall mount bracket, or the integrated keyhole on the back of the enclosure.

Speaker Terminals: The spring clip terminals will accept pin connectors and bare wire.

Video Shielded: The RM6751 is magnetically (or video) shielded for safe placement near your TV or computer monitor without causing picture interference.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great little surround speaker. I have a small house, so a "down-sized" 5.1 system is more then enough. I've paired these with a SPECTACULAR sounding set of POLK RTi-A1's (best speakers for the money) up front, and a RM6752 center channel speaker, along with a Polk PSW10 sub. I paid $700 for all of the Polk speakers. Half of that was for the RTi-A1's. I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER !! POLK AUDIO RULES ! At this price.. the little RM6751's are a steal. They produce rich, great sounding sound, and are perfect for rear surround aplications. These little rectangles produce more, and better sound then the TINY Bose cubes for a fraction of the price. Do yourself right.. GO WITH POLK ! My system sounds spectacular. Thanx Crutchfield !

    Polk Audio RM6751

Written By Gary, Yorkville, IL on Friday, January 23, 2009

These speakers have a very good sound for such a small footprint. I am using them as surrounds with much larger BOSE speakers for front and center and they have worked out just great.

Have not yet decided how I will mount these for my surrounds - at the moment i am breaking them in as PC speakers on a small amp and I am going to order another pair for sure. Polk audio speakers have great dynamics and superior imaging.

Affordable Way to Round Out Your Polk System

Written By Derek, San Francisco on Friday, August 10, 2007
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Sure, there's a number of satellites that are better...but if you want to complete your surround system without spending a fortune, these are a good way to go. What's nice is that they aren't just cheap speakers with a Polk badge; their sound and look are still exactly what you expect from Polk.

    15 year old Sonys

Written By Andrew, Longmont CO on Friday, August 18, 2006

These speakers are small, and they sound small. I bought 2 of these and a center speaker as a set to replace my 15 year old Sony surround sound speakers of comparable size and cost. I reinstalled my Sonys and relegated these Polks to a mere "fill in". Two star rating because they looked nice!!

    Polk 6750 and 6751

Written By Arnold, Wisconsin on Sunday, September 25, 2005
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased the Polk 6750 system and extra satellite speakers (6751) for my new 7.1 system. Nice smooth and natural sound - not as harsh as some more expenseive sub/sat systems. And price was very nice as well. I am very pleased with the speakers and would recommend them to anyone who wants good sub/sat speakers at an economical price.
