AudioQuest designed the OptiLink-G to give you a distortion-free connection between your digital audio components — like CD players, DVD players, and receivers. AudioQuest's cable designs are based on years of in-house research and careful engineering, to provide the best performance possible. Their OptiLink-G cables use a finely polished, low distortion polymer fiber to minimize signal loss and jitter (time-based distortion). A PVC inner jacket and braided nylon outer covering protect the fiber. Each plug also has a brass ferrule to reinforce the cable's connection, which helps ensure ideal light transmission, for the highest quality sound.

Since optical cables carry signals as pulses of light rather than as a stream of electrons, they are virtually impervious to magnetic or electrical interference.

    Construction: Audioquest OptiLink-G Toslink Optical cable features synthetic polymer fiber conductor which is highly polished to eliminate distortion-causing imperfections.     I had to exchange the 6 ft audioquest toslink for a shorter Monster cable 3 ft link because I didn't need all that extra cable hanging in back of the TV. I believe that the Monster cable has somewhat of a warmer sound to it than the audioquest. I could be wrong. But, this is just my initial impression.
    Pros:
    Both Audioquest and Monster toslink cables sound good. I just think the Monster cable is warmer sounding.

    I purchased this optical cable to link up my new ZVOX Z Base 555, center channel speaker to my television set. The cable was recommended by my Crutchfield adviser. I did not know what to expect when the cable arrived because I have always used MonsterCable or other brand named cables. I opened the box and found what looked like a bungee cord. Since I trust my adviser, I plugged the cable into my LG 42" tv and the ZVOX's optical connections. It was a very easy installation. The nice thing about this cable is it does not twist around or hold onto its "in the box shape." It does not tangle like cables usually try to do. And, it's slim shape and green/black coloration helps hide it in the shadows of the cabinetry.
    Pros:
    Small size, does not tangle or twist, bungee cord styling. The color of the cable helps it blend into the shadows behind the electronic devices.
    Cons:
    I purchased the smallest length available, about 18". I assume it comes in various sizes.

    I'm using this cable to run a Sony CD Jukebox thru my NAD 565BEE CD Player's optical input, to take advantage of the Wolfson DACs (much better for music than the AK DACs in my Denon 3311 AVR). This cable replaces a lower end Monster optical cable, and although the "G" is thinner, it provides very clear output, so a good upgrade.

    Improving the feed to the NAD "finished off" this connection and gave me what I hoped for, being able to have the option of using the jukebox to still get quality sound when I'm lazy and don't want to get up and change disks on the NAD.

    I've used Monster M-series optical cables as well, but have found that the Audioquest-G seems to provide a bit more clarity, and also has a better variety of readily-available cable lengths for my applications.

    This cable is being returned to Crutchfield. The installer who came out here from the store where I purchased that new TV that is to be used with the Polk sound bar said that this cable would not fit the connection site on the Polk sound bar for which it was purchased.
