The dash opening this kit is designed for is a different shape and size than typical aftermarket receivers. The mounting bracket covers the "gaps" and anchors your new receiver in your dash.

The kit also includes:

  • trim piece for a more attractive installation
  • 30-day warranty

Note: Most vehicles will require additional installation parts — please identify your vehicle if you haven’t done so, then check here for a list of parts. You can also call an Advisor for more information.

Fit is good. It is best to mount it a bit lower over the opening. Had to file down the upper corners a bit on the plastic cover but it went over Ford dash great.
Pros:
Pretty easy to make it work.
Cons:
None,

Did not work, the metal spacer is the wrong size to fit underneath the dash cover. 92 Ford Explorer, 1/4 inch too deep. couldn't use it.

Ford/Mazda Dash Kit

Written By Dave D, Wenatchee, WA on Wednesday, February 08, 2012
Installed in a 1990 Ford Bronco II
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I used the trim plate, but my Bronco II has the Electric Shift Button panel in the vent piece, and it had to come out to remove the facia panel. I didn't know how to get the 4x4 shift button panel out without breaking something, so I didn't get the facia panel off. It didn't have to come off anyway, because the old radio wasn't behind it. Therefore, I didn't use the reinforcing plate, just the trim plate. The inner dash panel is thick plastic, and the new radio isn't very heavy anyway, so I didn't think the extra reinforcement was needed.
Pros:
The trim panel fit nicely, and looks good.
Cons:
Could have used some info on how to get the 4x4 shift button panel out without breaking something.

The only problem I had was that my dash was tweaked ever so slightly and in turn
my ash tray doesn't quite fit perfectly flush anymore. But only I noticed, my
wife couldn't tell or if she could she didn't say anything.

Read instructions Carefully

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Look at the pics carefully before drilling and such. The answers are not in the text but in the photos. The trim plate is first class and it is almost imperceptible that this is an aftermarket trim panel. I elected to NOT first drill the metal plate but rather temporarily install the radio in the metal frame and see what exactly I had to trim in my dash panel of my 90 Ford Ranger. This way you can trim a bit, ensure the radio fits into the panel, and ONLY THEN screw in the metal frame. Worked great.

Ford/Mazda In-dash Receiver Kit

Written By jim, Amarillo, Texas on Friday, March 16, 2007

This product was great. I had to cut the dash and it sent the covers and everything to cover my not so straight cutting. Easy to install if you follow instructions. Looks like a proffesional did it. Used this kit to install a Blaupunkt San Jose. Looks great, thanks Crutchfield!
