Our take on the AKG K375

by David Brown

AKG K375 in-ear headphones with in-line remote and microphone

The K375's aluminum housing provides durability and reduces acoustic resonance for enhanced clarity. (Black model shown)

A great mate for your portable music player

AKG's in-ear headphones combine great sound with elegant looks. The K375 headphones add remote functionality to that equation, for an excellent everyday headphone you'll want to keep close for portable use. Solidly constructed, the K375's aluminum housing provides durable protection for the drivers, in addition to reducing the vibration and resonance that can muddy sound quality. And with AKG's 60-plus years of audio know-how and reputation as a leader in headphones, you can be confident they'll deliver clean sound with crispness, clarity, and low-end extension.

Hands-free conversation with your iPhone®

Designed for Apple® devices, the K375's in-line 3-button remote lets you control music playback and volume with ease. The remote's built-in microphone also lets you take calls on your iPhone, even while your phone remains in your pocket. So even your phone conversations will benefit from the K375's rich, clear sound. Just be sure to choose the right pair of ear tips from the three included sizes. That way you'll get a comfortable fit, optimum sound quality, and proper noise isolation for sealing in music and sealing out unwanted distractions. Then you'll be ready to stash these lightweight earphones in the included carrying pouch for music enjoyment anytime.

Features

Overview: The AKG K375 high-performance in-ear headphones are designed for on-the-go listening. The headphones have an in-line remote/microphone, and come with three different sizes of silicone ear tips, and a semi-hard zippered case.

Design: The K375 headphones feature aluminum housings, which provide superior acoustic dampening, extend bass response, and reduce resonances. The closed-back design helps keep outside noise from entering your ears, and prevents the sounds you're hearing from leaking out. The silicone ear tips are soft, smooth, and comfortably and snugly fit into your ears.

In-line Remote/Microphone: Just a few inches from the right ear bud is the K375's in-line remote/microphone. The mic is close to your mouth so your voice is heard loudly and clearly on the other end of the phone call. The 3-button remote lets you answer and hang up the call, as well as control the music playback functions. The controls are compatible with Apple devices, such as the iPod nano (4th gen and later), iPod classic (120 GB and 160 GB), iPod touch (2nd gen and later), iPhone (3GS, 4, 4S), and iPad (iPad and iPad2).

Cable: The K375 has a 99.99% oxygen-free cable with a slender straight 3.5mm plug. The slender plug lets you plug the headphones into most smartphones, even installed in hard cases.

Specifications:

  • Frequency Response: 10 to 24,000 Hz
  • Sensitivity: 120 dB SPL/V
  • Impedance: 28 ohms
  • Maximum Input Power: 10mW

Great deal

Written By Greg S., Newton, IL on Saturday, May 25, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased a pair of these after loosing a pair of Klipsch that did not fit well. I have also had Ultimate Ears and Bose in ear headphones. I put these in my ears for an 8 hour car ride and they fit very well and the sound was great to me. The more expensive ear phones may have better sound but I doubt that I would be able to discern the difference. I wear them while mowing on my tractor and they do a good job of noise reduction as well. The cable is much heavier than those of the other brands that I have had and hopefully will wear longer. I highly recommend these to anyone.
Pros:
good deal for the money
Cons:
none so far.

Very Functional for Daily Use

Written By J.K, SLO, CA on Tuesday, April 02, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I would actually give the AKG K375 a rating of 4.5 out of 5. The $100ish price range for earbuds is hard to define. Not elite sonic earpieces, yet spendy enough for reasonable expectations. These meet all requirements for a functional earbud. Good sound, good fit, and quality build. They have spent a month with me in the gym, doing yard work, and handsfree driving. So far, so good. They are at their optimal price point. You can get better buds, but it will cost you more. I was amused by the tag that reads "Designed in Austria" on one side and "Made in China" on the other.
Pros:
The AKG K375's do what they were designed (in Austria) to do.
Cons:
Initial impression is underwhelming. They take time to break in.

great earbuds

Written By MarcS, Newton, MA on Sunday, February 24, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very clear sound. Maybe too good - I found myself using the EQ feature on my iPhone, whereas with my Bose earphones I don't, but I feel like whereas the Bose are "tuned" to sound good, these are more "accurate" but need some EQ to tune to your preferences.
Pros:
Nice style. Good noise isolation. Work decently with my Macbook, which tends to have a hissing sound with small, good quality earbuds - it's still there a bit, and I think the the fault of my Macbook, but better than another brand I tried and liked with my iPhone (maybe because these have higher ohms)?

Unbelievable

Written By Brett, B. Washington on Sunday, January 20, 2013

Sleek, elegant, silky smooth sound. Beautiful highs, beautiful lows and everything in between. Only problem is I purchased these from another retailer, not knowing crutchfield had them 40.00 cheaper, oh well live and learn. I will be buying another pair for my wife from crutchfield. These things stomp anything else out there. It sounds like 10,000 dollar home speakers in my ears!!!!!!!!!!!!. Buy them
Pros:
Everything
Cons:
Absolutely none

K375

Written By Charles, Jacksonville,NC on Sunday, January 20, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Phenomenal headphones. I've found the sound quality on par with most over the ear headphones costing twice as much! Attached microphone provides clear calls on the other end, as I have been told by others I have spoken to. A must buy for the audiophile. The only issue I have discovered has nothing to do with the quality of product. They seem to slip out of my ear easily, even after cleaning my ears.
Pros:
Quality in both sound and build Solid microphone Sweet carrying case
Cons:
Slips out of ear easily
