    Overview: The Pro-Ject Head Box II headphone amplifier is a compact audio amplifier designed particularly to drive headphones. The external headphone amplifier allows for higher possible volumes and greater audio clarity than the smaller, inexpensive integrated headphone amplifiers that are used in most of today's home receivers or audio players. The Pro-Ject headphone amplifier connects to a line-level (RCA-type) input & output of your AV receiver or directly to the line-level (RCA-type) output of your audio source.

    Note: Available with a black or silver front-panel.

    Construction: The Pro-Ject Head Box II headphone amplifier employs a metal case to shields the circuitry from vibration and electromagnetic interference.

    RCA Input/Output: The Pro-Ject Head Box II headphone amplifier features gold-plated stereo input and output RCA phono jacks. The headphone amplifier's connects to your AV receiver's Tape monitor or CD-R/DVR inputs & outputs. It can also connect directly to your audio source's (CD player, Tape, Turntable) audio output.

    Headphone Output: The Pro-Ject Head Box II headphone amplifier is equipped with a front-panel 1/4" headphone jack to plug in your headphones.

    Volume Control: The Pro-Ject Head Box II headphone amplifier features a front-panel rotary volume knob to control the volume level of your connected headphones.

    Power Requirements: The Pro-Ject Head Box II headphone amplifier operates off of standard household current using the included oversized outboard power supply.

    Overall a poor product. This amp is bright, colored, lacks transparency, and depth. Bass is lacking. There is very little naturalness to the sound of the amp.

    The Pro-ject Head Box II provides audio quality for headphones connected to laptop computers and other smaller devices by allowing you to increase volume. For some who may be wondering the Pro-ject Head Box II is not necessary for improving sound quality by attempting to use it between your home stereo receiver and headphones. The only advantage to making this connection is that you would have an additional volume control knob.
    Pros:
    This is a quality product and is easy to use. All you need is a 3.5mm Stereo Headphone To RCA Adapter Cable to make the connection to your laptop or device.
    Cons:
    A little pricey for what it does.

    I have a Pro-Ject turntable with an older electronic speed control box from Pro-
    Ject also. What a difference between the older case and the new style cases!.
    Construction is solid and it feels like it's worth the (high price $$). The sound is
    clean and distortion free and uncolored tone. I can drive all my headphones
    without any problems. I did not give it 5 stars because, I wish it would have a
    small and not too bright blue LED power indicator, so I would know that the
    device is ON.

    Great sound with this headphone amp. Running a laptop through a DAC into the Pro-ject Headbox ll and some headphones. Would give a full five stars if I had more experience to compare it to. Definitely not dissapointed in making this modest investment to improve the sound of my system.
