Wide Sound Dispersion: The
NHT Classic Three C center-channel loudspeaker offers wide sound dispersion in both the horizontal and vertical planes. This means consistent tonality and good detail virtually anywhere the listener is seated.
3-Way Design: The NHT Classic Three C
center-channel loudspeaker employs 3-way speaker design. The Three C features dual
6.5" long-throw anodized aluminum cone woofers that are housed in NHT
designed BMC (Bulk Moulding Compound) frames that offers very low resonance.
These two woofers flank a proprietary 0.75" anodized aluminum
dome tweeter and 2.0"anodized aluminum dome mid-range. The use of 4 drivers
in the Three C reduces distortion caused by power compression, because the load is
spread over multiple drivers.
Tweeter/Midrange Module: The tweeter & midrange are built into a
single compact module. The clustered drivers acoustically act as one providing
very smooth response. This compact array keeps all of the drivers in close
proximity to each other improving phase (multi-driver timing) coherence. Another
benefit of the tweeter/midrange module is its low height allowing NHT to offer
maximum performance in a very low profile cabinet.
Acoustical Waveguide: The Classic Three C's tweeter & midrange
utilize an acoustical waveguide to deliver, more even high frequency response,
no matter what part of the room you're in.
Foam Insert: The NHT Classic Three C includes an unusually
shaped piece of foam with an adhesive backing. The purpose of this foam is to
reduce unwanted reflections caused by interaction between the tweeter and
midrange drivers. To get the best performance from the NHT Classic Three C,
install this foam part between the speaker's tweeter and midrange drivers.
Crossover Network: The Three C uses a sophisticated 2nd & 3rd
order crossover that were developed using computer (and human ear) aided design
to carefully split the frequencies between the woofer, midrange, and tweeter at
just the right spot.
- 2nd order low pass & high pass at 800Hz
- 3rd order high pass & low pass at 3.2kHz.
Voice Matched: All Classic Series speakers share a similar
"voice" or tonality so that you are assured a matched system no matter which
Classic model speaker you decide to add as you build your system.
Enclosure Design
Acoustic Suspension: The NHT Classic Three C center-channel
loudspeaker features an Acoustic suspension design (sealed enclosure with no
ports or holes in the cabinet). The NHT Classic Three C uses the air that
is trapped in the cabinet to control and damp the woofer cone motion. The
benefits of an acoustic suspension cabinet design include -
- tight, accurate bass
- smooth, natural midrange
- low distortion
- high power handling
- smooth bass rolloff (an important benefit when blending speakers with a
powered subwoofer seamlessly)
MDF Cabinet: The NHT Classic Three C's cabinet and front
baffle is constructed from MDF. Additional internal bracing ensures low
resonance. the Three C's cabinet is made with a CNC-milled 21mm MDF front baffle
and 15mmMDF for the sides and extensive internal bracing for rigidity and
resonance control.
Curved Side-Panels: The cabinet's curved side panels help to
randomize internal standing waves, which improves overall sound quality.
High-Gloss Black Finish: A hand-painted finish with 2 primer
coats, 7 color coats, and 2 clear coats producing a beautiful piano quality
high-gloss, black finish.
Detachable Grille: The speaker comes with a removable black
cloth grille with a rigid plastic frame.
Connections
Way Binding Posts: The center-channel loudspeaker is
equipped with one pair of sturdy nickel-plated 5-way binding posts to ensure a
secure connection to many types of speaker cables and connectors. The binding
post terminals will accept banana plugs (dual/single), pin-connectors,
spade-connectors, and bare wire (16-12 gauge).
Color-Coded: The 5-way binding post terminals are
color-coded so you can easily indentify positive (red) and negative (black).
Mounting Options
Placement: The NHT Three C center-channel is meant to be
placed horizontally. Ideally the center channel should be placed immediately
above or below the television, in as close proximity as possible. The Three C is
perfect for small to medium size rooms.
Feet Rails: The NHT Three C comes with two preinstalled
aluminum rails with butyl rubber inserts which offer an acoustically optimal and
handsome shelf placement solution without the need for additional feet, cones,
or other isolation devices.
Wall Mounting (optional): The optional PinPoint AM15B Center
Channel Wall-Mount Bracket (121AM15B,
sold separately) allows you to hang the NHT Three C on your wall.
