Shallow Mount Woofer: Pioneer's
"Shallow-Mount" subwoofers are designed to provide wider installation options
for a broad range of vehicles. They can be mounted behind or under the seats of
many vehicles. Although they have a compact design, these woofers still deliver
the same big-bass performance of a full-size subwoofer.
Double Cone: The subwoofer features
an interlaced Basalt/Carbon Fiber reinforced IMPP (injection
molded polypropylene) double-cone woofer. The volcanic-rock fibers create a cone that is lightweight, rigid, well damped, stable in temperature extremes, and more environmentally friendly.
Surround: The double cones use a dual three-layer, fiber-woven, "M"-shaped radial surround to attach to the
basket and form the Air Suspension System. This design keeps the voice coil
centered, even under high power, for clear and powerful bass.
Air Suspension System: Typical
subwoofers use a spider to control the woofer cone's excursion. The Air
Suspension System, formed by creating a sealed air space between the double
cones, effectively replaces the spider, providing superior design and
performance characteristics. It provides excellent linearity and clear bass with
low distortion.
Voice Coil: The TS-SW2501S4 has a 3" aluminum, 6-layer long voice coil wound onto a Phenol Resin Coated Glass Cloth bobbin. This design higher efficiency and sensitivity than
conventional designs to provide powerful, tight bass.
Magnet: The woofer has a high-power
strontium magnet.
Basket: The woofer has a one-piece, die-cast aluminum basket. The basket utilizes its rigid spokes to hold the top and bottom sides of the motor structure securely, effectively
minimizing any undesired output loss.
Pole Yoke Design: The woofer's vented and projected pole yoke design allows for better heat dissipation, increased power handling and greatly
improved linearity during large excursions by expanding the magnetic field.
Specifications
Recommended Sealed Box
Volume: The sealed box sizes recommended by Pioneer range from 0.35
to 0.7 cu/ft. Within this range, the ideal size recommended by Pioneer is
0.45 cu/ft, so this is the enclosure recommended by Crutchfield.
Vented Box Volume: The
vented box sizes recommended by Pioneer range from 0.5 to 0.7 cu/ft.
Within this range, the ideal size recommended by Pioneer is 0.6 cu/ft, so this
is the enclosure recommended by Crutchfield. One 3" diameter x 11.5" long
port should be used with the 0.6 or 0.7 cu/ft enclosure.
Single Reflex Bandpass Volume:
The bandpass box sizes recommended by Pioneer range from 0.7 to
1.2 cu/ft. Within this range, the ideal size recommended by Pioneer is 0.9
cu/ft, so this is the enclosure recommended by Crutchfield. The 0.9 cu/ft
enclosure should have a sealed chamber volume of 0.45 cu/ft and a vented chamber
volume of 0.45 cu/ft. One 3" diameter x 7" long port should be used
with a 0.9 cu/ft enclosure.
