Features
Overview: The TiVo Stream adds flexibility to your TiVo experience. The TiVo Stream is a device you add to your home network that
enables you to stream or download recordings from your Premiere series DVR to
your iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch while on your local network. The TiVo Stream
lets you stream up to four recorded shows simultaneously to four mobile devices
in your home (multiple Premier DVRs may be needed). The TiVo Stream also lets
you download shows to your compatible Apple device for viewing on the go. Here is what you'll need (minimum requirements):
- At least one TiVo Premier series DVR (running software version 20.2.1 or
later)
connected to your home network via Ethernet; will not work with a wireless
connection.
- Active TiVo Premier subscription (the TiVo Stream requires no additional
monthly fee).
- Wireless router for connecting your mobile Apple device.
- At least one iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad running iOS 5.1 or later (will
not work with unauthorized modifications to the iOS).
- Free TiVo App downloaded on your compatible iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad.
Note: At this time, the TiVo Stream does not support
Android and other mobile devices.
TiVo App: To stream or download shows from your TiVo Premiere series DVR, you'll need the
latest version of the TiVo App on your iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad (all running
iOS 5.1 or later). If you don't already have the TiVo App, download
it from the
App Store
and install it on your device. If you already have the TiVo
App, make sure it's up to date (with no updates pending).
Watching Recorded TV: The TiVo Stream lets you watch currently or
previously recorded programs from your TiVo Premier series DVR on your iPod
touch, iPhone, or iPad (running iOS 5.1 or later). One TiVo Premiere series DVR
is capable of streaming up to three recorded shows at once to three separate
Apple devices. Two TiVo Premiere series
DVRs are required to stream four recorded shows simultaneously to four separate Apple
devices. In addition to streaming inside the home, with TiVo Stream you can also
download recordings to your iOS device in the home so that you can take them
with you on the go. You can stream any TiVo recording within the home; including
regular and premium content. You can transfer a 1 hour show in as little as 15
minutes. Some programs, such as premium content, may be
marked as "copy once" and therefore cannot be downloaded to the mobile device.
Note: Not all programs may be transferred using the TiVo Stream due to
the use of copy protection mechanisms permitted under the FCC's encoding rules.
Some shows cannot be transferred due to the copy protection assigned to them by
the program provider. The ability to stream multiple shows is dependent on
factors including bit rate, resolution, screen size and available bandwidth.
Ethernet Connection: The TiVo Stream is fitted with a rear-panel
Ethernet (RJ-45) port and comes with a 41" Ethernet cable to connect to your
home network's modem/router. The unit does not offer a wireless connection.
