Note: Some aftermarket speakers have terminals that are wider than this harness's slide-on connectors. You may need to widen the harness's female slide-on connectors, or use the slide terminals that may be included with the speakers. If you need to connect your new speaker's connectors to the Crutchfield harness, soldering is best, and crimping is also very popular - see "Accessories."

Features

Crutchfield Speaker Harness: Crutchfield speaker harnesses prevent you from having to cut your vehicle's factory speaker plugs when replacing your factory speakers with aftermarket car speakers. The Crutchfield speaker harness features two female quick-slide connectors on one end to attach directly to your new aftermarket car speakers & a proprietary Molex connector on the other end that connects to your vehicle's factory speaker plug.

Quick-Slide Connectors: The Crutchfield speaker harness is equipped with a large (positive) & small (negative) female quick-slide terminal. These quick-slide terminals fit directly onto most aftermarket car stereo speaker terminals (slight crimping may be required). In rare cases that the quick-slide terminals do not fit your car speaker terminals, you will need to solder the Crutchfield speaker harness to your aftermarket speaker's terminals or replace the quick-slide connectors on the Crutchfield speaker harness with the correct size terminal.

Quick-Slide Terminal Measurements: The positive female quick-slide terminal measures 0.205" (inner width), while the negative female quick-slide terminal measures 0.115" (inner width).

Does not work on Grand Am!

This is the wrong harness for a Grand Am, but judging by all of the other reviews, they have not caught on. If this didn't come free, I would be mad. It has the wrong ends, which are the same as the area they are supposed to plug in to.

I had to cut the harness because it had male ends just like the wires in the car. If you cut the harness and solder the wires together it works fine. This harness doesn't take into account the tweeters as well (99' Grand Am). So with some wire merging and solder, you can keep those working too.
Pros:
It was a nice gesture.
Cons:
Do no fit Grand Am

Almost worked.....

These speaker harnesses worked for the rear, but were about foot short for the
front speaker connections. I'm glad I decided to just rewire the car speakers
instead of just connecting to OME speaker wire. If you have a Grand Am don't
rely on these GM speaker harnesses connections! You'll have to do
some "rigging" to get them to work if you plan on using them. I gave the product
a two star rating because the rear connected flawlessly.

the harness had the wrong end on it so it wasn't just plug and play. i had to
cut off the end and solder on the old end witch was kind of a plus because the
harness wires were so short anyways there would have been a lot of tension on
them so by soldering on the old connector i was able to add wire and actually
keep the factory tweeters working!!

Wrong Connection

Well i had purchaed a pair of infiniti kappa 462.9 4x6 front speakers for my 2002
Pontiac Grand Am, The connection from the factory harness is an male end going in to
the factory speaker female receptacle, so the male end on this connector is useless, it
needs to be a female, now i had the standard GM factory Sound System so this may be
an issue in a few cars. This may work as an extension if you strip both ends, because
the leads going to the speakers don't work for all speaker connections either, the
infiniti's have screw type connector. I ended up cutting/stripping off the male end on the
facotry wiring then running monster 18awg speaker wire from the factory wire to the new
speakers. i still have this harness connection i may use it another time with another car
or a jumper wire if need be, they were in excellent condition and looked to be a quality
part i did not need.

This is of no use if used with a monsoon equiped sound system in your grand am. Specifically if your 01 grand am has a component set up front, this will not work for your application. You will find that by disconnecting the factory tweeter, this adapter will mate with that connecter. When you disconnect the woofer, this adapter WILL NOT. It's best to buy a new head unit and run all new wiring for your doors. Don't waste your time with this adapter if you have the same, or feel that you will have a similar setup. Especially if you are thinking of paying money for this. If crutchfield wants to throw it in with your speaker purchase, fine. Roll the dice. Otherwise, rewire your car for use with an aftermarket head unit.

I got these with the new Polk Audio MM component speakers, the harness's fit the car just fine, but wouldn't fit the speaker spade connectors. This wasn't a problem for me since I rewired my entire car before I got these, I just had to go out and buy my own spade connectors, but for those who buy these and plan on using stock wiring then you may have to switch out the spade connectors.
