Features
Overview:
The Mirage Omni-S8 is a compact
powered subwoofer that features an 8" woofer and a 100 watt internal amplifier.
Ribbed Elliptical Surround:
The Omni-S8 features a woofer with a Ribbed Elliptical Surround, which is a
proprietary component that has been designed to increase excursion, eliminate
distortion and raise efficiency. This feature eliminates any surround dimpling
so this subwoofer can play lower with greater output and fidelity.
Bass Reflex Cabinet:
The down firing port of the Omni-S8 increases output without port noise, using
the floor as a loading surface to augment the yield of this unique subwoofer
which allows the subwoofer to deliver natural and lifelike sound.
Amplifier Section:
The powered subwoofer has a built-in 100 watt
RMS internal amplifier.
Driver:
The Omni-S8 feature a front firing 8-inch titanium deposit hybrid woofer with a
ribbed elliptical surround which performs like a much large subwoofer and has a
frequency response down to 27Hz.
Status Indicator:
The LED found on the front panel will illuminate when the subwoofer is connected
to an AC source and when the unit is active. The LED will display in red when
the unit is plugged in but is not receiving a signal and will display green when
the unit is receiving a signal.
Controls
Front Panel Controls:
The powered subwoofer uses front panel controls to make it easy
to adjust the volume and crossover at any time.
Subwoofer Level:
This knob can be adjusted to control the level of output from
your subwoofer. The level chosen should allow the subwoofer to blend its output
with that of the rest of your audio system.
Frequency Control:
This control allows for the adjustment of the low-pass filter. Adjustments can
be made from 40Hz to 120Hz. This will determine the highest frequency that the
subwoofer will play.
Phase Control:
This switch allows for the adjustment of the phase of the
subwoofer, in relation to the speakers used in your system. You can choose
either 0 degrees or 180 degrees.
Filter Mode:
This switch allows for the selection of either "Filter On" or "Filter Off".
Choose "Filter Off" when you are using a receiver with a dedicated LFE out that
has its own crossover filter.
Power Mode:
This is the only control function that is found on the rear panel. This switch
can be set to either On, Off or Auto. If the switch is in the Off position, the
subwoofer will not power up. If the switch is in the On position, it will
constantly remain on. When the switch is in the Auto position, when a signal is
present the subwoofer will turn on and when will automatically turn off several
minutes after a signal is no longer present.
Connections
Sub Input:
This input is an RCA type mono input that will be hooked up to your receiver's
subwoofer output.
High Level Input:
These are spring post type speaker connectors. The
high-level inputs are designed to be used with receiver or amplifiers that do no
incorporate any RCA type subwoofer outputs.
