Our take on the JVC KS-U58 Input Adapter

Problem: You've got a portable music player stuffed with all your favorite music files, but have no way to listen to it in the car.

Solution: If you have a compatible JVC CD or cassette player in your dash, you're in luck. The KS-U58 adapter converts the CD changer plug on your receiver into a standard headphone-style jack — perfect for connecting an iPod, add-on satellite radio tuner, or other external source. If top-shelf sound quality is your goal, you just can't beat the convenience and performance of a wired connection. Warranty: 30 days.

Note: If you're using this adapter with your JVC receiver, a CD changer can't be connected.

Features

Overview: The adapter converts the J-Link CD changer port on JVC CD Changer controller receivers to an auxiliary input (minijack stereo connector). This allows you to input line-level audio signals from such items as portable MP3 players or add-on satellite radio tuners.

Note: If you use this adapter as an auxiliary input adapter, you cannot connect a JVC CD changer to the head unit.

Worth every penny!

Written By cyaw11, Rockmart,Ga. on Monday, October 31, 2011

The price was a little more than exspected but helped me save money on a CD changer. Also saved me time if I had a CD changer from changing out CD's in carterage when wanting new music. Music from phone and iPod sound just as good as CD's and 10x better than any transmitter that I have tried.
Pros:
I turns my phone and iPod touch into the best replacement for a CD changer ever. Since I use my phone as my GPS I can also take hands free calls and hear them better since it come through my sound system plus great for watching netflix movies from my phone. Easy to install for your average Do-It-Yourself person also in just a few minute.
Cons:

Better then the monster cable transmitter

Written By CK, ND on Tuesday, May 03, 2011

I got sick of using my Monster cable transmitter which had poor sound quality with my JCV deck. Found cheap rip offs of the ks-u58 online but I didn't feel my JVC deserved some knock off. I finally man-ed up and purchased the ks-u58. Sound quality is GREAT. Plugged in, activated the port on the stereo and I was rolling and thumpin.

JVC KS-U58 Input Adapter

Written By BD, Central VA on Thursday, April 21, 2011

The FM thing was not working for my XM radio. The sound would fade in and
out and there were extended periods of hissing or no sound at alI. I made the
direct connection with this adapter and not only do I have a constant connection
but I no longer have to adjust the volume level up when changing from other
input sources.

Works well

Written By Dennis S, Reno NV on Friday, February 04, 2011

It works well. The radio that you hook it to has a loop to allow you to TIE-WRAP the cable
to it prevent it from falling out. It's well thought out. I have had it for only a month but all is
well so far.

What if id did not work?

Written By Robert, Raleigh, NC on Saturday, October 30, 2010

I rated the AUX unit 5 stars for ease of use and good sound. I like the way the wire is already hooked up and can hide in the back of a storage pocket.

Great value

Written By smith, Cincinnati area on Monday, October 11, 2010

I am happy with the purchase. Saved me a lot of pain of changing cds in my older receiver. The only bad thing is the converter box. It's a little large and if you have a small space to put this in it's tough to situate it around so it will fit. Lots of extra cord length to run under the carpet though.

Great Addition

Written By Toluallii, Ventura, CA on Tuesday, February 03, 2009

Attached to a KD-HDR1, this thing works as it should. It's nice to be able to plug in my MP3 player or Garmin and have the sound come through my stereo loud and clear. There's plenty of wire for a moderate run, but I just ran mine to my glove box as it was the easiest/most convenient place for it to go.

Double check the connection

Written By Wallace, SoCal on Wednesday, January 14, 2009

Installed on JVC HDR1. Easy to install and dragged cable pretty easily to where I plugged in Sirius Sportster Sat Radio.

Only problem was I got "hum" -- obviously from the car's electrical system. Multiple replugs and etc, and finally after about 2 weeks got the hum eliminated. Apparent cause was the plug was slightly oversized for the Sirius car "plug & play" adaptor, and did not seat fully. After seating and unseating it multiple times it appears the JVC miniplug or hole plug on the Sirius wore down enough that it seated properly, and the hum was magically eliminated.

Great sound now -- but frustrating for about 2 weeks. This hum was to the point that I was considering giving up on the Satellite Radio and eliminating the service.

Recommended solution: Visually check the plug for any mis- manufacture -- mold lips, misaligned parts, over spread of plastic molding materials. Then seat the plug, firmly (quite!) seat it into the socket, and then remove and reseat multiple times. Finally push it in and use your thumb to ensure full seating. Test the unit -- if you hear hum, repeat starting with visual inspection.

Once the full connection was completed, it works very well. But paying this much for essentially a mini stereo plug with a different adaptor, I would have expected something closer in spec.

JVC KS-U58 coupled to JVC KD AR-400

Written By dhananjayp, Edison, NJ on Wednesday, August 27, 2008

This works perfectly with my after-market car stereo JVC KD AR-400. Installation was a breeze in my civic. JVC provides a good length of the cable, using which was able to route the mini-plug adapter to my glove compartment with the wire completely hidden behind the dash.
