Features
Inputs: The CO3002 offers both line-level and speaker-level inputs.
The supplied speaker-level input harness allows you to connect the input to a
receiver without preamp outputs, either aftermarket or factory. When the
speaker-level inputs are used, a signal sensing circuit turns the amp on
automatically when it receives an input. The amp turns off after approximately
one minute without an input.
Internal Crossover:
The amplifier's internal crossover can be set to HPF (high-pass filter), LPF
(low-pass filter), or Full (full range, the crossover is bypassed). The
crossover's slope is 12dB/octave and the crossover point is continuously
variable from 50Hz to 500Hz.
Bass Boost: The Bass Boost circuit is switchable; select a 0 dB, 6 dB, or 12 dB boost.
Tri-Mode: When using
appropriate passive crossovers on all speakers, the CO3002 can power two stereo
speakers (2Ω minimum with a high-pass passive crossover) and a single subwoofer
(4Ω minimum with a low-pass passive crossover) simultaneously.
Power Indicator and Protection LEDs:
There is a blue LED on the control panel (left side) and a blue LED bar across
the top of the amp to indicate the power is on. A red LED on the control panel
indicates the protection circuit has engaged and turned the amp off.
Protection Circuit: The Cobalt series has six protection circuits and
the amp automatically turns off when it encounters a problem with overheating,
short circuit, under voltage, over voltage, over current, or DC Offset.
Input and Output Notes
Power Connections: The power
and ground inputs are set-screw terminals. They will
accommodate up to 4-gauge wire and require a 3mm Allen wrench to tighten (not
included). The remote turn-on input is also a set-screw terminal. It will accept
up to a 10-gauge wire and requires a 2mm Allen wrench to tighten (also not
included).
Note: The manual states that 4-gauge power and ground wire is recommended, however, an 8-gauge amplifier wiring kit is sufficient to cover the 25-amp fuse rating of the amplifier.
Speaker Connections: The speaker outputs are set-screw terminals.
They will accommodate up to 12-gauge wire and require a 3mm Allen wrench to tighten (not
included).
Specifications
CEA-2006 Compliant: The
specifications given by Orion for the Cobalt CO3002 amplifier comply
with CEA-2006 Amplifier Power Standards from the CEA (Consumer
Electronics Association). All manufacturers who comply with the standard can
display the CEA-2006 logo on their product.
