Pioneer TS-A Series speakers bring your music back into focus with precise reproduction of instruments and vocals, so all those details you love will really pop.

Pioneer's TS-A1604C component system includes 6-3/4" woofers with stiff carbon-graphite polypropylene cones that ensure clarity in your music's vocals and percussion. Highly elastic polymer surrounds help keep cone movement under control, for smooth, crisp midrange and tight bass. The separate soft dome tweeters deliver warm, dimensional treble, so you'll hear all the overtones that give your music ambiance.

The in-line crossovers direct the high frequencies to the tweeters and low frequencies to the woofers, so your music sounds natural, just as the artist intended. Aim the tweeters towards your ears to give your music a strong live image.

Features

Woofers: Each woofer features a Carbon Graphite IMPP (Injection Molded Polypropylene) interlaced Aramid fiber cone. With interlacing long Aramid fibers, this Carbon Graphite IMPP cone design provides the strength and rigidity powerful bass requires.

Woofer Mounting: The woofers can be mounted easily in standard 6-3/4" and four hole 6-1/2" applications; they will also fit into standard 6-1/2" openings, but they don't have the 6-1/2" bolt pattern (three hole), so new screw holes must be drilled.

Tweeters: The TS-A1604C system features 3/4" soft-dome tweeters with magnetic fluid and Neodymium magnets for efficient, crisp, clear highs.

Tweeter Mounting: The tweeters can be flush mounted or surface mounted using the supplied housings. The surface mount housing positions the tweeters at approximately a 50° angle. Once installed the tweeters do not swivel.

Crossovers: The TS-A1604C features in-line passive crossovers on both the woofers and tweeters. The crossover point is fixed at 6,000 Hz and the slope is 6 dB/Oct.

Great sound

These speakers sound great went in easily with supplied plastic rings and wiring harness. Make sure you solder those spade connectors on!! these things kick and just running of an aftermarket head unit with no amp.

Pros:

Sound great even without an amp

Cons:

can't think of any wish i bought 2 sets instead of 6x9 for rear.

Rhonda suggested the Pioneer TS-A1604C, which worked out great for my vehicle.These speakers are component speakers where the tweeter is seperate from the woofer. The sound is fantastic, the lows and highs and clarity make you realize that anyone that enjoys music needs to get the most out of their vehicle and install component speakers.If you your music you spend enough time in your vehicle have a sound system that delivers.

Pros:

Woofers were easy to install, just screw them in. beautiful ful sound what a dfference

Cons:

Tweeters we easy for me to install, but most people would have a hard time. I removed my component tweeter from is housing delicatly. the diameterwas almost the same size as the factory tweeter. I was able to super glue my tweeter to the housing that mounted to the door panel and after the glue dried they attached to the door panel just like the factory tweeter. Great fit for my vehicle

I got these to replace the factory front door speakers in my '99 Durango. The truck came with the Infinity sound system, so it has a little factory amp, and when I installed the new Kenwood KDC-X995 deck, the factory speakers lasted about two weeks. These Pioneer's sound great. I really wanted to buy the Polk MM6501, but they were out of budget. I'm totally satisfied with the Pioneer separates. They don't reproduce the lowest lows, but really, they're 6 1/2" door speakers, who is expecting that? I'm sure they could use more amp for themselves, but sound great as-is. Time to save up for a sub setup and really let these speakers shine.

Pros:

Very clear and clean sound. Replacing the factory Infinitys is like the difference switching from tapes to CDs.

Cons:

Tweeters were a real pain. They aren't big enough to cover the factory door holes, so they have to mount behind the Infinity grills that block half the sound.

I've had these speakers for a good 6 months installed to replace my factory speakers (2005 4Runner/using a Pioneer head-unit). The one lacking thing was the lack of bass from them, which for some may not be a big deal, but drove me nuts since the day I installed them. I finally broke down and bought a 50wx4 channel amp to power these (as well as two other rear speakers) and it has made a world of difference. As others have posted without a decent separate amp, these may be lacking sound depending on your setup.

Pros:

Easy install / Crutchfield install docs!

Cons:

Not so much bass prior to installing an amp.

I installed these speakers in the factory locations of the front doors on my 2000 Toyota 4Runner with the factory head unit. These speakers are a huge improvement over the factory speakers and the factory head unit powers them just fine. I am confused by several other reviews I read saying these speakers don't have any bass. After a couple days to a week these speakers loosened up and both me and my 11 year old think they have great bass. Especially for a reasonably priced 6 1/2" speaker. I also bought and installed a Dynamat Xtreme door kit for the front doors and did that at the same time. Maybe that helped with the bass response?

I did have to use contact cement to glue the tweeters to the factory tweeter bracket since the original factory tweeters were attached with a screw directly into the back of the tweeter but that seems to have worked just fine. Also not having to install separate crossovers was nice.

I think these speakers are a great value and I will probably replace the rear speakers in my 4Runner with the matching Pioneer 5 1/4" 2 way or 3 ways.

i installed these speakers in the front doors of my 2006 avalanche. they fit extremely well with minor modifications. drill out the old tweeter and mount in the new one, no problem. wiring harness is nice and directions are easy. i have the factory standard stero and the speakers sound really good. this set up is perfect for an easy upgrade.

Factory Replacement in Accord

I installed these a few weeks ago in my wifes Accord. We decided to keep the
factory receiver. The install went pretty smooth, I needed to drill new mounting
holes for the door speakers. The dash speakers were difficult to reach and
even harder to splice the short factory wires. A wire harness would be worth
gold there. Once the connections were made I had to glue the tweets to the
factory bracket / grill. First I did a little research online from other Accord owners
to get a feel for what I was in for. I was able to change all six speakers in two
and a half hours.
Overall the sound quality has been dramatically improved, my wife now actually
keeps the volume lower than before.
I replaced speakers in my truck years ago and lost bass,and was not surprised
at all when we lost bass now. Do not expect to get deep bass out of these, they
may loosen up in a few more weeks but I'm not holding my breath. However
they do deliver great mids and highs.

I bought these because the specs looked good but was surprised at the lack of
bass and overall output.
I would recommend the Polk Audio db5251 instead.
