Features
HDCD Decoder:
The DCM-380 features an HDCD (High Definition Compatible Digital) decoder. HDCD
is an encoding/decoding technology that greatly reduces the distortion occurring
at the time of digital recording while maintaining compatibility with the
conventional CD format. HDCD allows 20-bit data to be converted to the 16-bit
data of current CDs with no loss in sound quality. HDCD-compatible CDs are
automatically identified by the player, and the optimum digital signal
processing is used.
Advanced Multilevel Noise Shaping
DAC:
The DCM-380 features a Multilevel Noise Shaping DAC. This
multi-level modulation powerfully removes the adverse effects
of jitter, and because it is built into the output amp, a clean
analog output with suppressed high-frequency interference
can be directly obtained.
Disc Exchange: You
can exchange up to 4 discs while playing a fifth;
once the drawer is open, 3 CDs can be changed, then you must use the disc skip
button to remove the remaining one.
Variable
Headphone and Line Outputs: The output levels are controlled by
remote only (controlled using the volume +/- buttons). The line and headphone
output levels are affected simultaneously, so the line output level cannot be
changed without changing the headphone output level (and vice versa). If the
variable line output level is changed while recording a CD from the analog
outputs of this unit, the recording levels will be affected.
Music Calendar: The
player has a 20-track music calendar.
MP3 Playback: This unit will
play MP3 files recorded onto CD-R and CD-RW discs using the ISO 9660 level 1 and
level 2 formats. A maximum of 99 folders can be played on the DCM-380. Folders
over 8 layers down, however, cannot be played. The maximum number of files is
also 512. If there are 513 files, only the first 512 are played. This unit
allows you to choose Full Random Play or Disc Sequential Random Play. When Full Random Play is selected, all the tracks on the
loaded discs are played in random order. When Disc Sequential
Random Play is selected, you can select the CDs to be played in random order. Up
to 5 disc can be selected, and the same disc can be selected two or more times.
Using Repeat Play, you can repeat the current track, current disc, or all discs.
Program Play:
Up to 32 tracks can be programmed and played in any order.
Random Play: This
unit allows you to choose Full Random Play, Program Random Play, or Disc
Sequential Random Play. When Full Random Play is selected, all the tracks on the
loaded discs are played in random order. When Program Random Play is selected,
all the programmed tracks are played in random order. When Disc Sequential
Random Play is selected, you can select the CDs to be played in random order. Up
to 5 disc can be selected, and the same disc can be selected two or more times.
Repeat Play: The DCM-380 allows
you to repeat the current track, current disc, or all discs. In addition, you
can repeat Program Play and Random Play.
Direct Selection: Using the
supplied remote, you can directly access discs and tracks.
Inputs and
Outputs Notes
Synchro:
You can connect the Synchro jack with a Denon cassette deck
that is equipped with a Synchro jack, then make a synchronized recording.
Control In/Out: The DCM-380 has
a mini-jack input and output on the rear panel to allow you to connect a Denon
receiver with remote control in/out jacks. With this connection, you can control
the CD player with the receiver's remote.
