Why do I need an enclosure?

An enclosure is simply the box that houses your sub; sealed and ported enclosures are the most popular types. A sealed enclosure is usually smaller in size, sacrificing a little volume level to deliver more accurate bass. The ported enclosure features a vent which allows bass waves to escape from behind the mounted sub, augmenting the bass coming off the front of the sub. Ported boxes are louder, bigger, and a little less accurate. Every sub works best in the size and type of enclosure that's recommended by the manufacturer, so make sure you match your sub with the right box.

Sound Ordnance's rugged Bass Bunker enclosures come built to last, ready to help your sub deliver real low-frequency firepower. These unloaded boxes feature high-grade, medium-density fiberboard construction, with inner braces that help combat resonance by reducing vibrations. Rounded outside corners and recessed panels allow them to fit into more vehicles, while tough black carpeting defends against incoming nicks and scratches. Bass Bunkers make a great solution when building your own box is not an option.

The BB12-T truck-style sealed enclosure holds one 12" subwoofer and offers an internal volume of 0.74 cubic feet. At a little over 6" deep, it's designed to fit behind the seats in many truck cabs, so you can experience great bass without sacrificing too much space. Just add the right sub, amp, and wiring, then mount the enclosure securely, and you're ready to hit the road with some real bass artillery in your arsenal.

Features

Compatibility: This enclosure is specifically designed for a single shallow-mount component subwoofer.

Materials: The box is constructed of 5/8" MDF (medium-density fiberboard). MDF resists flexing and has anti-resonant qualities.

Design: Complementing the shallow subwoofer, this enclosure provides the optimum sealed box volume for truly full-size woofer performance. Designed to take up a minimum of space, the enclosure fits neatly behind the rear seat of many pickup trucks or in the cargo area of an SUV. The construction features sturdy 5/8" MDF and includes internal bracing for strength and bass clarity.

Terminals: The spring post wire terminals, located on the right side of the enclosure, will accept bare wire (up to 10 gauge), pin connectors, and single banana plugs.

Grille: Three grille rods are included to protect the driver; when installed they add approximately 1" to the enclosure's depth.

Brackets: Brackets (not included) are recommended for more secure mounting.

I give this item a fair 3 star rating due to the fact that these boxes do not come enterally sealed (air tight) from the factory. So, you will have to seal it yourself which is tedious and time consuming - not to mention messy! It is very difficult to get sealant into the upper and lower edges of the box opposite the woofer cutout side. You should use a good quality sealant, and do it right the first time. I used "Right Stuff" gasket maker purchased from O'Reilly's. Also, the chrome bar "speaker grill" looks cheap, almost tacky, as do the push type wire connections. Otherwise it's a good buy.

They say that "size matters" and in this case it is true. These boxes are small. In my "STANDARD" cab p/u I have TWO of these puppies loaded with Kenwood Ex shallow mount subs powered by an Rf BD1000 and Pioneer's AWESOME 80PRS head unit. Talk about bass. People trip out on the bass that comes from this setup. Deep bass! Sub-terranium bass! You know the kind. Don't you? Bass you don't actually hear but can feel. If you haven't experienced this type of bass then "you don't know bass"...

Pros:

Size! Small enough to fit just about anywhere.

Cons:

These boxes are not completely sealed from the manufacture.

I got this box for aKenwood Excelon 12" Sub and the combo just sounds great. I particularly like this box for the little space it takes on my Acura RSX. Now i get to use most of the trunk the way it was ment to be. I am not sure why I am getting as much bass out of this combo as I was getting from a way bigger set-up with two 12" JL Audio W3V2s and a Small Sealed OBCON box. Perhaps both the Kenwood Excelon Sub (KFC-XW1200F) and this sub box are really good. Specially when there is only one sub with about one third of the volume and the cost for both sub and box is less then half of other systems I have used. I am amazed at the quality of bass reproduction that I am getting. It is far more musical and it is using the same power as before about 400Watts RMS from a Zapco Reference 360. Music now sound a lot clearer and precise. I don't miss the 2 12" set-up at all. Yes. It is that good.

Pros:

Very small volume that hardly uses any trunk space. So far pretty good built quality and very musical box when combined with the correct sub and power source.

Cons:

None really. Just don't care much for the White lettering of the logo but is not a big deal.

Great quality box. Works with my shallow mount Kenwood sub very well. I placed the box behind the bench seat of my 2003 GMC Sierra 1500 Regular Cab. The seat can still go as far back as it could before. I also like the metal bar protectors, excellent idea and works great.
