The Centra-Pod unloaded speaker enclosure mounts under the dash on the transmission hump of your Jeep — it's made to hold a pair of your favorite 5-1/4" speakers. The Centra-Pod radiates the sound directly towards the driver and the passenger, so you enjoy improved clarity of sound and better soundstage imaging. The tough plastic enclosure comes with mounting hardware.

    Overview: The Centra-Pod is a fantastic addition to your CJ or YJ's sound system. This unique speaker housing rests in front of both shifters and directs sound toward both the driver and passenger.

    Applications: The Centra-Pod fits 1955 to 1995 CJ and Wrangler model years.

    Speakers: The Centra-Pod will house two 5.25" speakers of your choice.

    Note: Speakers, Wiring or Speaker Grills not included.

    Enclosure: The enclosure is constructed of a sturdy plastic material that will stand up to your abuse for years to come and compliment your vehicle's interior with a factory appearance. The enclosure is black in color.

    Installation

    Centra-Pod Installation: The Centra-Pod installs easily, mounting to the floor with two hex-head self-tapping screws and a concealed wire lead hole located at the rear of the unit makes for an easy and tidy installation.

    Tools Required: The following tools are needed for installation of your Centra-Pod.

    • Drill and phillips bit
    • Exacta knife / razor blade
    • Wire cutters / strippers
    • Wire terminal crimper
    • 5/16" socket bit and extension for drill or 5/16" ratchet socket and extension and a small drill bit for pilot holes

    Note: You may need a Roto cut-out tool if you have to make the speaker hole slightly larger to fit your desired speaker.

    PROS: Box is built extremely well and sounds great. Especially for the price.
    CONS: It will not fit without removing the heater duct outlet if you want to shift the transfer
    case into 4-hi. The pre-cut 5-1/4" holes were a hair too small and I had to open them up
    a bit to fit my kicker 5-1/4" in. Great box if you use a little enginuity.........not so great if your
    looking for plug and play.

    I wanted to upgrade to the factory radio in my '91 Jeep Wrangler. In addition to a new
    stereo, speakers were going to be a key component in th project. I ran a search in the
    Crutchfield online catalog and found the centrapod. The description sounded like a
    perfect match for me and my upgrade ideas. Bought it, installed it, LOVE IT!!!

    I have a 91 wrangler YJ and recently purchased the centra-pod. Its like night and day with those extra 5 1/4 speakers on the trans hump. I loaded the enclosure with Blaupunkt PCxb542 it sounds crystal clear. The only modifications I had to do was cut the speaker holes bigger to fit the aftermarket speakers in the pod. Thanks Crutchfield!
