I installed these in our 2001 Dakota Quad Cab w/Infinity System. Much better than the worn out original Infinity's, even though they require you to turn up the volume somewhat louder due to the 4 ohm impedance of the new speakers (compared to 2 ohm of the originals). I plan on adding a powered sub to round out the upgrade.

Pros:

Much better than original Infinity's.

Cons:

Requires a little more volume and really needs a powered sub to fill out the sound.

Dont get these

Got these to replace stock speakers on 2004 toyota rav4. The stock speakers were working fine and I had no problems with them, but I saw this on sale and thought id try it out. They cant sound worse than stock speakers, right? RIGHT? So a friend and I installed these in two hours, to be honest they sound terrible. the stock speakers sounded better AND had more bass with only PAPER cones. Unbelievable, how is it that paper toyota branded speakers sound better than these after market speakers?!

I've only played them for an hour, maybe I should let them "break in" but as of right now they sound terrible. These speakers are bad and sony should feel bad for making them.

I RECOMMEND getting these only if your speakers are destroyed and you need new speakers. I would recommend getting this only if you can get it for $10 or less a pair.

Pros:

installation was straightforward

Cons:

sounds worse than the speakers I made in science class with two paper plates, spring and a magnet.

There OK for a 6.5. They blend in with the other larger speakers good. I would not want to use them as the main speakers.

Pros:

They have good highs and fair mids. Better than factory speakers.

Sony XPlod 6 1/2 car speakers

I recently bought and installed the Sony Xplod 6 1/2" speakers in the front of my 2003 Toyota 4Runner. Directions on installation were excellent, and the tool I bought to pop off the door panel was well worth the $10.

On the speakers, I'd have to rate them a 3.8 out of 5 stars. They do sound a bit cleaner and crisper than the 6x9 factory speakers they replaced -- but not that much better, and the old 6x9s seemed to be more powerful. However, all in all I'd have to give the product and Crutchfield four stars, maybe 4.2. They're worth $50, and in retrospect, perhaps I should have purchased a better line of speaker to make the difference I was hoping for.

I bought these for my 2010 Accord to replace the factory speakers. These actually had less bass than the mediocre factory speakers. They have good highs and mids, but seriously no bass at all. I've always been happy with Sony products. This was my first disappointment. As always, Crutchfield service was great and processed my return with no problems.

Great speakers for the price

My stock speakers in my '99 Jeep Cherokee were working fine when I parked my Jeep 5 years ago, as were the two 12" subs.. When I pulled it out of storage last year, the stereo still worked fine but, one by one, the speakers started to fail. I was down to the right front stock speaker and two 12" subs.......My system sounded horrible!!!!! I decided to upgrade through Crutchfield. I went on the website and searched for speakers for my vehicle. It was straight to the point and gave me the speakers that fit my Jeep. I chose the Sony Xplod speakers, front and rear, as economical replacements. The installation was very easy thanks to the wiring harnesses supplied by Crutchfield. The resulting sound is FANTASTIC!!!!!!!! Before, I could hear more bass than anything because of the amp and two 12" subs in the back, but now I can hear all the mids and highs over the heart skipping bass that I already had. These are great stock speaker replacements for the price!!!!!!!! THANKS CRUTCHFIELD!!!!!!!

A very nice upgrade over the stock 4x6s in my 2002 Cavalier. Decent power handling, but make sure you get bass blockers or an amplifier with a crossover. These are not to be confused with subwoofers.

chosen for price, not for sound quality, decided to return them :(

i installed the speakers and immediately i notice an absolute lack of bass compared to stock. i put the stock speakers back in one side and the side with stock sounded WAY better. the only advantage over stock speakers i see in these is that they have independant tweeters, where i DID notice distinctively louder and clearer highs, which can easily be remedied by a seperately mounted tweeter, but the mids sounded the same and the lows were a bummer.

i think these may be good speakers for the budget minded who do not get nearly as concerned about the low end freqs, but if you listen to anything with bass, go with something in a higher price range that will reproduce those freqs better.

Sweet Sounds

I put these speakers into my 2003 Dodge Dakota Pick-Up quad cab with ease
thanks to Crutchfield's detailed instructions. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! I'm so
pleased with the sound quality. I love my truck, but always said the factory
stereo was inadequate. Up-graded to a Sony X-plod head with these speakers
and I am lovin the detail and depth in my music! Thanks Crutchfield, & Bryce
my Crutchfield advisor. You know your products! I've purchased home audio
and car audio several times from you over the years, and as always,
PERFECT!!!

I spent big dollars on my front speakers and needed to oust my factory rear
speakers with minimal cost. I used these. They do the trick as far as upgrading
from factory. When fund become available I will replace these with some more
high end speakers. But I am happy with them in the interim.

Good speakers

I put these speakers into the rear doors of my 99 Nissan Pathdinder. They put out
a pretty good amount of bass for their size, but they don't sound quite as clear as
the Polk db651s speakers in my front doors. This doesn't bother me as I was
really looking to just replace the stock speakers and wanted some thump but not
break my budget. All in all, decent speakers for the price.

One thing to note: If you're installing these in a 99 Pathy (not the 99.5 or newer),
the included brackets from Crutchfield won't fit. They didn't match at all with the
mount holes in my door. However, unlike the Polk db651s speakers, they will line
up with the holes of the stock mounting plastic on the Pathy door quite easily. All I
had to do was cut off the plastic peg that sticks out from the stock mount.
