Overview: The NHT B-12d subwoofer is a compact high-end
subwoofer for home theater and music systems. The B-12d sounds powerful and
natural while playing either your music or movies. You'll get tight, controlled,
articulate, fast, and deep bass out of your soundtracks. Adding a powered subwoofer to your home
theater or home stereo system offers plenty of benefits -
- takes the deep bass load off of your main speakers, so they play louder
with lower distortion
- helps your amplifier by handling the deep bass (your amp
handles just the midrange and high frequencies)
- blends seamlessly with your main speakers and disappears
DSP (Digital Signal Processing )Engine: The integrated DSP engine dynamically controls the powered subwoofer's
amplifier power, equalization, and filter functions. As a result, the B-12d
plays louder, deeper, with more control. The DSP's built-in limiter and
compressor even protects the woofer from being over-driven.
500W BASH Class D Amp: The NHT B-12d powered subwoofer employs a built-in
BASH Class D amplifier rated at 500 watts, 4-ohms, 0.5% THD. The digital
amplifier design is super efficient and provides powerful, deep bass
performance.
Note: Always provide adequate space for ventilation of the
subwoofer amplifier. Do not place the powered subwoofer directly against a
wall, curtains, or any other surface.
12" Woofer: The NHT B-12d powered subwoofer houses a heavy-duty,
long-throw, pulp-cone 12" woofer that has been custom designed by NHT
specifically for the B-12d's closed box, acoustic suspension design. The
loaded woofer fires forward into the room (not down-firing).
Sealed Enclosure: The NHT B-12d powered subwoofer features a sealed enclosure. It has no holes or ports that
can interact with its surroundings making it ok to put it wherever it fits in
your space, instead of the other way around. An instead of boomy, sloppy bass -
you get deep, accurate, natural sounding bass. The interior walls of the
enclosure are lined with a 1mm thick sheet of aluminum to eliminate cabinet
flexing, so the B-12d can hit deeper bass notes & player louder with more
control.
Gloss Black Finish: The B-12d powered subwoofer comes beautifully
wrapped in the signature NHT gloss black finish.
Mounting Feet: The NHT B-12d comes with four aluminum spiked feet
for carpeted flooring (adds approximately 1.1875" to height). There are also four aluminum floor protectors included,
in case you have hardwood or tile flooring (adds approximately 1.375" to height). The feet are adjustable to combat
against uneven floors.
Controls
Subwoofer Volume Control: The NHT B-12d's volume control
(min/max) matches the
powered subwoofer's volume to the your satellite speaker's output.
Boundary Control: There is a unique 3-position Boundary
Control switch that provides a Bass EQ for different placements in your room.
This Boundary Control function electronically "moves" the subwoofer for best
sound without actually moving it. It will assist in providing the flattest
frequency response from the subwoofer in your room. The Boundary Control can be set to -3dB, 0db, or +3dB.
Crossover: The NHT B-12d incorporates a variable low-pass
crossover (50-130Hz). The crossover is active for the powered subwoofer's stereo
line-level inputs. It does not function with the LFE input
(you will need to use the low-pass crossover built into your A/V receiver).
Phase Control: A phase control (0/180-degrees) integrates the Super
8's output with your satellite speakers for a more blended, smoother sound.
Auto On/Off: The NHT B-12d will automatically turn-on when it senses
an audio signal through its line-level or speaker-level terminals. The powered
subwoofer will then turn itself off when there is no sound present for
approximately 20 minutes. Or, you can leave the powered subwoofer always on.
USB Wireless Adapter (optional): There is a USB (type-A) connection
for use with a future NHT wireless audio adaptor (sold separately).
Connections
LFE/Stereo Input: The B-12d has an LFE/RCA input for connection to
your receiver's sub out, and stereo RCA inputs for your receiver's line-level
preamp outputs.
- LFE/Subwoofer Input: The most common connection for A/V receivers
today is to run a single audio cable from the receiver's Subwoofer or LFE
output to the powered subwoofer's LFE/RCA input. The LFE input bypasses the
powered subwoofer's crossover control and uses the built-in crossover
settings in your receiver.
- Stereo RCA Input: Some older A/V or stereo receiver only offer
preamp outputs. In this case, connect a pair of audio cables from the
left/right preamp outputs on the receiver to the two stereo RCA inputs on
back of the powered subwoofer. With this connection, you will use the
powered subwoofer's integrated crossover controls.
LFE Output: The NHT B-12d features and LFE (RCA) output
so you
can daisy chain a second powered subwoofer in your home theater system. Like the
LFE input, the LFE output bypasses the subwoofer's crossover control and uses
the built-in crossover settings in your receiver.
Universal Power Supply: The B-12d uses a super-efficient, universal
power supply (100v-240v, 50/60Hz) to deliver full output anywhere in the world.
