Improvements in the bass was most noticeable but the high ends were clearer and crisper. A great improvement which allowed me to use the original speaker grills. Pros: Improved bass and high end. Removed the tweeter and woofer from the pods in the dash and sound way better than any 5 1/4 you would stuff in there without an enclosure. These are much nicer sounding and less distorted. The mids are there too. Dont expect bass but they do breakup less than the 5 1/4 with plates mounted in the same location. The stock speakers have bass blockers stock inside the enclosure cut the green and black wires off the stock speaker and solder the new alpines into the bass blocker wires, green is NEG and black is POS. Not to be confused with the plug wires in the dash, they are black red/brown LEFT and Violet/Blue on he Right. I am talking about the wires in the 7 speaker system Pods. Get these for the Wrangler! We bought these to replace the original rear speakers in my wife's 1984 Porsche 911. The original sound system had never worked well. We put a new Kenwood HD receiver in dash and a set of the Alpine SPS-510s in the door. What a difference. You can actually hear the music even with the top down. For less than $300 we put a great sounding system into her car. Very clear and sharp sound. Since the car is a convertable we didn't want to go overboard with the system since weather and theft are much more of a problem in a drop top. Receive product on time. Receive product with Crutchfield-supplied mating connectors for my vehicle. Install product in less than 25 minutes. Product works as advertised. Product better than OEM speakers. Customer delighted. How boring..... Pros: Perfect fit and mating connectors; above average sound quality, Crutchfield Service Cons: Crutchfield a bit pricey, and did I mention boring? 5 out of 5 Great Jeep Wrangler Pod Speaker Replacement Written By Brandon, Texas on Friday, September 23, 2011 I used these in the stock Rubicon 7 speaker system. Removed the tweeter and woofer from the pods in the dash and sound way better than any 5 1/4 you would stuff in there without an enclosure. These are much nicer sounding and less distorted. The mids are there too. Dont expect bass but they do breakup less than the 5 1/4 with plates mounted in the same location. The stock speakers have bass blockers stock inside the enclosure cut the green and black wires off the stock speaker and solder the new alpines into the bass blocker wires, green is NEG and black is POS. Not to be confused with the plug wires in the dash, they are black red/brown LEFT and Violet/Blue on he Right. I am talking about the wires in the 7 speaker system Pods. Get these for the Wrangler! We bought these to replace the original rear speakers in my wife's 1984 Porsche 911. The original sound system had never worked well. We put a new Kenwood HD receiver in dash and a set of the Alpine SPS-510s in the door. What a difference. You can actually hear the music even with the top down. For less than $300 we put a great sounding system into her car. Very clear and sharp sound. Since the car is a convertable we didn't want to go overboard with the system since weather and theft are much more of a problem in a drop top. I installed these in the rear doors off my Subaru along with the 6-3/4" component system and Alpine deck and they sound great.
