TX-LR552 Receiver
Features
96kHz/24-bit DACs: This
receiver features linear 96kHz/24-bit Digital-to-Analog Converters.
Assignable Digital Inputs: The
TX-LR552 has 3 assignable digital inputs (2 optical, 1 coaxial) allowing you to
indicate what components are connected to which digital input jack.
Dolby Pro Logic II and IIx:
Dolby Pro Logic II creates 5.1-channel surround from two-channel material. Dolby
Pro Logic IIx goes one step further and creates 6.1-channel surround from
two-channel material (except 96kHz PCM). If you have indicated the presence of a
surround back speaker in the speaker configuration, you can select DPL IIx as a
surround mode. If you have indicated there is no surround back speaker connected
to the receiver, you can select DPL II. Dolby Pro Logic II and IIx each have
movie, music and game modes.
Listening Modes: This
receiver incorporates a wide variety of listening modes to bring you maximum
enjoyment from your audio and video software. The listening modes include:
- Surround Modes:
- Dolby Digital
- Dolby Digital EX
- Dolby Pro Logic II
(Movie/Music/Game) (no Surround Back speaker)
- Dolby Pro Logic IIx
(Movie/Music/Game) (Surround Back speaker is present)
- Neo:6 (Cinema/Music)
- DTS
- DTS 96/24
- DTS-ES (Discrete 6.1/Matrix
6.1)
- DTS + Neo:6
- DTS + Dolby EX
- DSP Modes:
- Orchestra
- Unplugged
- Studio-Mix
- TV Logic
- All Ch Stereo
Direct/Stereo Modes: These mode deliver
pure sound with minimal sound quality adjustment and filtration. In Direct Mode,
the sound
recorded for the right and left front channels is output to the right and left
front speakers only without subwoofer. In Stereo mode, the selected input source
is processed as a stereo signal and is output by the front left and right
speakers and the subwoofer.
DPL II or IIx Music Modes: While
listening in the Dolby Pro Logic II or IIx Music format, there are three further
enhancements you can enjoy:
- Panorama: This mode extends
the front stereo image to the surround speakers to provide a
"wraparound" effect. This mode is especially effective when there
is limited output from the surround channels. Panorama can be turned on/off
in the menu.
- Dimension: This mode allows
you to move the soundfield forward or
backward.
- Center Width: This mode
allows you to move the center channel output totally to the center channel
speaker or divided between left and right channels, creating a "phantom"
center channel.
Center Image: In
the DTS Neo:6 format, the Center Image feature adjusts the output of the left
and right channels relative to the center channel, allowing you to make the
center channel more or less dominant as needed. This improves the image of the
center channel, especially when the listener is off-center.
Double Bass: This
function boosts the bass by feeding bass sounds from the front left and right
channels to the subwoofer. Double Bass works well with mono and 2-channel
sources, including 96kHz PCM. Note: In Speaker Configuration, the
subwoofer setting must be set to "Yes" and the Front speaker setting must be set
to "large."
CinemaFILTER: This circuitry provides a subtle
high-frequency rolloff for proper playback of soundtracks in the home. This
feature provides the means to easily remove excess treble response from
soundtracks that were originally equalized to sound best in a large theater.
This function only works in the Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital EX, Dolby Pro Logic
II & IIx Movie, DTS, DTS-ES, DTS Neo:6 Cinema, DTS 96/24, DTS+Neo:6 and
DTS+Dolby EX
surround modes.
Late Night Feature:
The Late Night feature limits the dynamic range of Dolby Digital
recordings that have been encoded with dynamic range data. Limiting the dynamic
range makes it easier to find a volume control setting that ensures the quiet
sounds are not too quiet and the loud sounds are not too loud for night time
listening. The choices are: "Off", "Low", and
"High". Note: This feature only works with Dolby Digital
Encoded software and the depth of the feature will vary based on the individual
software package.
Bass Management: The speaker
configuration settings are optimized for the supplied HTP-240X speaker system. If
you choose to use other speakers, you will need to set up the receiver for the
speakers being used. In the Setup menu, you can indicate whether or not a
powered subwoofer is being used, the size of the main speakers, and the size and
presence of center, surround and surround back speakers. You can also set the
crossover frequency according to the size of the speakers and the presence of a
subwoofer in the system.
AM/FM Tuner: The receiver's
AM/FM tuner features Automatic (seek) and Manual tuning. In the Manual tuning
mode, FM stations will be heard in Mono. You will need to switch to Automatic
tuning mode to listen in stereo.
Sleep Timer:
From the remote, you can set the unit to automatically turn off after a preset
amount of time--10 minutes to 90 minutes in 10-minute increments.
Display Dimmer: The
display illumination can be set to Dim, Dimmer, Dimmer + front panel indicators
off, or Normal.
Multibrand Remote: The
RC-577S remote is pre-programmed to operate this receiver, plus multiple brands
of TVs and DVD players.
DV-CP702 DVD Player Features
Video D/A Converter: This
player uses an advanced 54MHz/10-bit video digital-to-analog converter. This high-bit,
high sampling D/A converter helps to reduce digital artifacts to give you a
better picture.
Audio D/A Converter:
This player features 192kHz/24-bit audio digital-to-analog converters.
Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry
(VLSC): The DV-CP702 uses Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry to remove stray
pulse noise from the digital signal for a smoother, richer analog output signal.
"Direct Digital
Path": "Direct Digital Path" signal routing provides a
shorter, cleaner path from the signal processing PC board to the digital outputs
than typically found on other players. This direct signal path routing is used
to prevent corruption of the signal by noise from the ICs and power supply.
Progressive Scan Output:
Progressive-scan video has less flicker and fewer motion artifacts than the
traditional interlaced-scanning method, resulting in a superior picture. To take
advantage of this feature, you must have a television with component video
inputs that supports the progressive scanning mode. The component outputs on
this unit can be set to pass either progressive or interlaced video.
MP3/WMA Playback: This unit will play
MP3/WMA files recorded onto CD-R and CD-RW discs using the ISO 9660 level 2
format. The following files are supported: MP3 constant bit-rate files with a
compression rate from 32-384 kbps, MP3 variable bit-rate files with a
compression rate from 64-384 kbps, and WMA constant and variable bit-rate files
with a compression rate from 16-192 kbps. This unit is not compatible with
multi-session discs. If you try to play a multi-session disc, only the first
session will be played. Each disc can have a maximum of 999 folders and
672 files per folder.
JPEG Disc Playback: This unit
will play JPEG files recorded onto CD-R and CD-RW discs using the ISO 9660 level
2 format. Only baseline JPEG files with the following brightness/color
difference ratios are supported: 4:4:4, 4:2:2, and 4:1:1. Each file must be less
than 5MB in size. All JPEG files on a disc can be played back individually or in a slide show.
Each disc can have a maximum of 999 folders and 672 files per folder.
Playback Modes: The DV-CP702 features the
following playback modes:
- Fast Forward/Reverse: There are 5
fast forward and 5 fast reverse speeds for DVDs and 3 for Video CDs, audio
CDs, and MP3/WMA discs.
- Slow Motion: There are 4 slow motion
speeds for DVDs and 3 for Video CDs. Backward slow motion is only possible
with DVDs.
- Time Search: You can locate a
specific point on the currently playing DVD title, Video CD or audio CD
track by entering the time.
- Repeat Playback: Depending upon the
type of disc, you can repeat the following:
- DVD: Chapter, Title, 1 Disc or
All Discs
- Video CD: 1 Disc or All Discs
- Audio CD: Track, 1 Disc or All
Discs
- MP3/WMA: Track, Folder, 1 Disc or
All Discs.
- A-B Repeat: You can play a specified
section of a DVD, Video CD or Audio CD repeatedly
- Random Playback: Depending upon the
type of disc, you can randomly play the following:
- DVD: Title, 1 Disc or All Discs
- Video CD/Audio CD: 1 Disc or All
Discs
- MP3/WMA: Folder, 1 Disc or All
Discs (files in subfolders are not played)
- Memory Playback: You can create your
own memory list of up to 32 titles, chapters, or tracks. Note: You
can repeat the memory list, but cannot perform random play.
Chain Mode: With
the Chain mode function you can consecutively play all discs, all DVD-Video
discs and Video CDs, or all audio CDs and MP3/WMA discs as if they were one big
disc.
Resume Function: The
Resume function allows you to resume playback of a disc from the point where you
last stopped. The stopping point is cleared when the Stop button is pressed more
than once, another disc is selected, or the disc tray is opened.
Last Memory Function: If
you want to begin playback at a certain point, but the power will be turned off
or the DVD or Video CD will be removed from the player, use the Last Memory function
to specify a starting point on the disc next time you play it. Points on up to 6
DVDs or VCDs can be stored in memory.
Digital Out Settings: You can specify in
the Setup menu how the unit will output digital audio signals depending upon the
capability of the connected equipment:
- Dolby Digital Out: You can choose to
output Dolby Digital audio as it is (if your A/V component has a Dolby
Digital decoder) or downmix it to 2-channel PCM.
- Linear PCM Out: You can choose to
output digital audio at 96kHz (if your A/V component can accept the higher
sampling rate) or downsample it to 48kHz. Note: In some cases, even
if you select "downsample off," digital audio from some discs will
automatically downsampled to 48kHz or may not be output from the digital
output at all.
- MPEG Out: You can configure the unit
to output MPEG digital audio as it is (if your A/V component has an MPEG
decoder), or downmix it and output it as PCM digital audio.
- Digital Out: You can turn on or off
the coaxial and optical digital outputs without any effect on the analog
outputs.
Display Dimmer: The
display illumination can be set to dim, dimmer, disc tray light off, or normal
brightness.
HTP-240X Speaker
System Features
HTP-240X Speaker System: The
HTP-240X Speaker system is a 6.1-channel system, including six two-way speakers
with stylish brushed aluminum cabinets, and a powered subwoofer. The speakers
have a non-removable black cloth grille with silver trim.
SKW-240 Powered Subwoofer:
The subwoofer features a downfiring 8" paper cone woofer in a bass reflex enclosure. The
LED indicator, located on the front panel, glows red when in "standby"
mode, and green when in operation. The subwoofer automatically turns on when an
input signal is received, and returns to "standby" mode when no signal
has been received for approximately 20 minutes.
Speaker Bases: Two metal bases
are supplied for the front speakers. The bases are 6-11/16" in diameter and add
approximately 3/8" to the overall height of the speaker. Hardware is included
for attaching the bases to the speakers. A plastic base is
provided for horizontal placement of the center speaker. The center base is
10-5/8" wide and 3-3/16" deep, and raises the center speaker approximately 3/8".
Note: The front speaker bases can be used for the left and right surround
speakers if desired.
