    Features

Overview: The Klipsch Image S4 in-ear headphones offer a precise comfortable fit for long-term wear, superior noise-isolating design, and smooth sound with great bass. The Klipsch Image S4 in-ear headphones work with your iPod, iPhone, and other portable digital audio devices with a 3.5mm headphone output.

Premium Sound: The Image S4 in-ear headphones deliver realistic sound  through the use of a single, moving coil micro-driver (or mini-speaker) per channel. These drivers cover a wide frequency range (10Hz-19kHz) with dynamic detail.

Comfortable Fit: The Image S4 features angled housings for proper in-ear alignment. The Klipsch Image S4's exclusive soft and flexible oval ear-tips naturally fit the contours of your ear canals, providing comfortable long-term wear as well as producing a perfect acoustic seal. A good seal minimizes outside noise, also known as noise isolation (up to -18), and allows you to enjoy your music at lower, safer volumes. The Image S4 comes with three different sizes of washable ear-tips:  medium and large single flange designs, plus a dual-flange pair.

51" Headphone Cable: The Image S4 in-ear headphones feature a durable 51" headphone cable with built-in strain relief.

Gold-Plated Connector: The Klipsch in-ear headphones feature a gold-plated, male 3.5mm connector, so it works with any portable device that features a standard 3.5mm headphone output.

Carrying Case: The Image S4 comes with an aluminum carrying case to store the headphones when not in use.

    Didn't work for me

Written By Anonymous, Los Altos, CA on Wednesday, February 29, 2012
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'm not sure how to rate these. I was unable to hear any bass to speak of below about 100 Hz. My wife says they work fine for her. She is less acoustically discerning than I am, but I am pretty sure she would notice if they sounded the same to her as they do to me. What I can hear seems reasonably accurate for such a small device, but I can't stand listening without the bass. I would have given them 1 star, but I am giving the benefit of the doubt that the problem may be me and my 68-year old ears.
    Cons:
Bass apparently very sensitive to anatomy of listener's ears.

It may be personal, but I can't get these ear pieces to fit comfortably and get the low end sound to work well in my ear. I was disappointed in the Crutchfield rep, making a such a poor choice in recommending them.
    Pros:
have a sharpe upper sounding range
    Cons:
terriable fit, weak low end sound

Klipsch S$ Earbuds Best Deal in Audio

Written By MarkE, Boston, MA on Sunday, February 05, 2012
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I experienced irritation using my Apple ear buds, so much so that I stopped using them while running. A friend recommended the S4's and at this price I felt why not try them? I did and they were worth twice what I paid. The molded earpieces allow me t comfortably wear them every day, without irritation. I've since bought three more sets, 2 for my granddaughters and one for my wife. My granddaughter thanked me and said that the difference was incredible, like she was listening to a song for the first time.
    Pros:
Molded (3 sizes) ear pieces, exceptional sound quality, especially the bass and the price.
    Cons:
    None.

    Clarity unmatched

Written By HE77, Texas on Friday, January 27, 2012
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I at first was disappointed in these buds based on comparing them to some cheaper models I picked up in an airport while traveling. My other buds (cannot recall brand) are not bad. They have booming bass, and due to their design, sit very tight in the ear producing a noise-canceling effect, which is great for noisy airplanes. So, I at first denounced the S-4s for lack of bass...big mistake. I recently have been using them as bedside buds to listen to TV shows and music on my laptop in bed without disturbing my partner. The detail and clarity can only be truly appreciated once you've listened to these things in an otherwise quiet room. You hear all the little things you take for granted. And they fit every bit as good as my other pair (if you use the correct size earpiece and put them in the correct ear). My only real gripe is that the cable is a little flimsy. Overall, if you are interested in superb sound with adequate bass, buy these. If you listen to low-quality MP3s and enjoy thumping bass, you should look elsewhere.
    Pros:
Detail and clarity Cost much cheaper than other high-end models Comfortable design
    Cons:
    Cord is flimsy Mediocre bass

Missing Bass? I found the fix

Written By Jasonth, Madison, WI on Wednesday, January 25, 2012

When I purchased these headphones to replace my twin driver Apple earbuds, I was very disappointed. They had no low end, and sound quality was fair. I was about to return them, but something was irking me - why would Klipsch release an obviously poor product like this - so I went online and did some digging.

Others had similar issue - but almost everyone reported that they solved it by trying different ear pieces. The ear pieces I need were much smaller than I normally used - but after finally finding a set that fit (I had five sets to go through) the headphones sound amazing.

The whole kit comes with a small metal storage can that survives well in my laptop bag and holds all of the bits.
    Pros:
Great sound, all digital iPhone controls, silent cable that doesn't transmit friction to sound in your ears. Cable doesn't knot easily, making it ideal for quick pocket storage.
    Cons:
Sound tubes in the ear pieces are weak - you must use the right size or your sound quality will suffer. Expensive for what you get.

I think this product is great. I use it at the Y on a daily basis while working out. I swithed to the dual flange ear piece. Seems to fit best for me. It did take a while to figure out the exact way to insert in my ears, but they are great. Have no problem with them falling out or discomfort as some people have. The sound quality is excellent. Well worth the money spent
    Pros:
Very comfortable and stay in. The sound quality is excellent
    Cons:
    Non so far

    Amazing everything

Written By e, Sudbury, MA on Wednesday, January 18, 2012
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These headphones are amazing. They shipped in only two days, and they sound incredible. A perfect balance of bass and treble. The fit is also insane. By far the most comfortable ear buds ive ever used. They are also very noise canceling. I have them at less than half volume and I can't hear a thik. They are perfect expect for one tiny thing. When you have the volume very loud, and there is a lot of bass there is a little static. Not enough to affect your listening experience though. Overall amazing headphones that i recommend to anyone.
    Pros:
noise cancelation fit/ comfort fast shipping amazing sound
    Cons:
    static at loud volumes

    too harsh?

Written By Dedop, Arlington VA on Sunday, November 13, 2011
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

i was excited to try this product, but the reality of the sound toned me down a bit. The music seems harsh. Now perhaps that means that the headphone is in fact quite accurate because songs downloaded from i-tunes and played from an i-pod are not high fidelity and may have digital artifacts that makes listening seem tiresome. RE: actual sound, the highs and lows are there. Perhaps some additional midrange may help and less emphasis on the highs. Or perhaps i don't know what I'm talking about since all music listening is to some degree quite personal - i mean, there is no one else in my mind but me, so i have to go by what i hear.
    Pros:
when i get that perfect seal in my ear canal.
    Cons:
when I don't get that perfect seal, which is often. the music seems too harsh, and not musical.

    Love at first sound!!

I've been purchasing headphones for well over twenty years in hopes of finding the "magical pair." It never happened..until now. When I ordered these, I also ordered the Zune HD from another site. The two went together like peanut butter and jelly. The moment I hit "play", I was taken to another place. Now I'm listening to the music I once listened to on a whole different level.Sounds and words that I never knew existed in some songs immediately came to life.I now have an even greater appreciation for music. I'd recommend these earbuds to anyone who wants to hear the music like it was intended to be heard but don't want to spend an arm and a leg to do so. GREAT job Klipsch team!!
    Pros:
Great sounding earbuds at a very reasonable price. Once you put them on, it's almost as if they're not there.
    Cons:
The included bud tips were ok. They could have been better but their still great earbuds.

    Fantastic for the price

Written By Chicago Joe, Chicago on Thursday, October 20, 2011

Sounds great. I used to have Bose earbuds and bought these as a replacement after the Bose broke. These sound just as good, if not better than the Bose, and at half the price. The S4 also "cancel" noise much better than the Bose, because they go deeper into the ear. Bass extension and response is great and highs are really good. Every once and a while, it sounds a little flat, but not really noticeable at all. I highly recommend these. Some have complained that the S4 have a difficult fit and fall out. I had the same problem at first, until I realized they were in backwards (they are somewhat backwards compared to most other ear buds). Once I figured it out, though, the fit was perfect and really comfortable. The cord is really thin and looks flimsy (compared to the lower gauge Bose) and the plug does not look to be enforced well, but time will tell if these stand up to every day use.

FANTASTIC BASS AND CLEAR SOUND BUT......

Written By joseph, yonkers ,new york on Thursday, September 29, 2011

Just to get this out in the opened i am not a reviewer mostly this is my first review on anything.I am going to make this the eazyest review i can make for who every is reading this review so here it goes.

First the good thing's 1.) bass is fantastic that is u get these in your ears all the way and right 2.) sound is wonderul it has the highs and lows u want its fantastic 3.) the cord does not tangle up most of the time and it comes with a nice metal case .

CONS 1.) tthe BIGGEST problem i have is thye do not stay in my ears for notheing really i done everything. 2.)like i said there is bass but if u do not have these in your ears all the way and i am talking way in your ear then u will not hear the bass AT all.for me that is but everyone else ears are different. 3.) when in the ears i found them to be very painful idk if my ears are too small but very painfull for my ears.i think its because they have to be in the ears so far in . 4.) not a big deal but i found at times the headphone would go into a u know pop when u first plug then in to a ipod or laptop.but its not big deal it happens one time and thats all.

so anyways that is my lilttle review i think there worth the money if they would fit in the ears not too the point when the ears are in pain .if u have big ears then u may have none of these problems me i did and that why i will be returning them ,still wonderul bass and fantastic sound and highs and lows for sure .

    Junk--VERY Disappointed

Written By Eric, Chesterfield on Wednesday, September 28, 2011

Junk. Not worth the money. No bass, absolutely none. Flat sounding but better than the free ones you get on an airplane. I was completely disappointed even after adjusting all of my mp3 players and anything I plug into to maximize the bass, still very little to none. Don't waste your money if you have a discerning ear.

I rarely use them and got another pair that advertized good bass and boy, what a difference--full rich sound with a nice tight bass sounds. This makes going back to the Klipsch even harder. Not worth the price even if it was on $20, I'd still recommend anyone pass these up for another brand or model.

    Worth 3x More!

Written By Donna, Connecticut on Tuesday, September 27, 2011
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My former earbuds, Skullcaps, cost more and were NOTHING compared to these. When they developed a short, I started reading reviews on cnet.com, and decided on these. They are amazing. The sound quality is outstanding. I can hear every instrument individually, and the balance is incredible. I'm a huge YES fan, and if any of you are familiar with their classic music (early 70s) and love it, you have to hear it through these earbuds. I felt like I was hearing it for the first time. As far as fit, you don't have to twist and turn and jam them into your ears to get them to stay put and produce the best sound; you just insert them gently and you're good to go. I can't recommend them highly enough.

    Great if they fit

Written By GregP, San Francisco, CA on Sunday, August 14, 2011

I have a very large head, but never had a problem getting ear buds to fit with a selection of adapters. These phones just didn't fit (too loose) and none of the included or adapters from Klipsch would work. Should have return the phones; however, I tried foam tips and they work and the sound is excellent. The foam tips are not the best for frequent insert/remove because they need to expand to fit.

    Good sound for the price

Written By RobertB, Burlington, VT on Wednesday, March 23, 2011
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these after losing an expensive pair of Shure earbuds that had been given to me as a gift. Since I couldn't pay that much again but wanted great sound, at this price the Klipsch earbuds seemed like a good compromise. The S4's sound almost as good as the Shure's but the cord and the fit of the buds don't compare well with the Shure's. It may be a matter of simply finding better rubber fittings but for the moment I have to be careful or the S4's slip out of my ear when walking. They are comfortable though. I expected a stronger cord than the S4's had. Overall, I am pleased, given what I paid.

    Great but Beware

Written By Dano, Philly, PA on Thursday, March 03, 2011
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

    Beware,
Your favorite songs will sound different. You will hear notes, phrases, tones, and voices
that you never knew were there. I have listened to some songs hundreds of times and
when I used these headphones I heard many new parts of songs that remained hidden
    by cheap headphones.

Small adjustments in the angle of these phones in your ear may be necessary to hear
the full bass. The trick about routing the wire over the top of your ear works for jogging..
Careful though, you won't be able to hear traffic with these buds.
