Mark Gurvey from TEAC came to Crutchfield to tell us about their Reference Series CR-H500NT stereo receiver.

Steve: TEAC came in this week for a training session here at Crutchfield and we had a chance to look at their Reference Series as well as their music systems that you can use with your iPhone or iPod.

Mark: We then move to what we call the flagship all-in-one system. And the reason why it's all-in-one is because not only do you have the same features of Internet streaming capability and wired and wireless networking, you also have the capability of a built-in CD player rather than having that in a separate component. We also have a function here called USB play and record and the major benefit is that I can actually rip, or record, from a record album or the AM/FM tuner or the Internet stereo radio tuner, and record at 128K which is a high digital data rate onto a USB flash drive. I can also play back through this system or I can take that flash drive and play it back through my car or through another type of home system or take it to someone else's house — very, very nice feature.

Steve: That's very cool.

Mark: To be able to archive LPs and play back LPs with the same machine because you have the built in phono stage. So everything that this does in one package is really a combination of multiple audio inputs from multiple sources, all designed to bring together anything from an LP all the way up to a PC file — very convenient. This is the Wi-Fi antenna, and it's perfect for streaming over 11,000 internet radio stations at various quality levels. I can do search functions here and I can look at classical stations from Germany or I can look at jazz stations from England. It's phenomenal what's available on internet radio.

Steve: Thanks a lot for coming by Mark and telling us about TEAC's Reference line of audio components. If you have any other questions about TEAC's gear please give us a call.
