The built-in phono preamp allows you to connect it directly to almost any audio system, even one without a turntable input. Plus, the TN-300 features a USB output that makes it easy to transfer your albums to your Mac® or Windows® PC for digital archiving. TEAC TN-300 turntable tonearm

An anti-skate mechanism ensures accurate tracking with your records.

Beauty that's more than skin deep

Under the TN-300's polished exterior is a heavy MDF base designed to resist external vibration. Driven by a high-torque DC motor, the turntable's die-cast aluminum platter spins on a polished stainless steel spindle and bronze bushing that minimize friction for smooth, silent rotation. The turntable's tried-and-true belt-drive system uses a Neoprene® rubber belt to isolate motor vibration and prevent noise from being transmitted through to your amp and speakers. A straight aluminum tonearm equipped with an Audio-Technica AT95E moving-magnet cartridge ensures accurate tracking and rich, full-range sound.

TEAC TN-300 turntable back panel connections and controls

The TEAC TN-300 has a USB output for digitally archiving your vinyl collection.

Enjoy the rich sound of vinyl without the hassle

Its pre-matched, factory-mounted phono cartridge and tonearm take the guesswork out of installation, and give you optimized sound quality with minimal effort. Customer Q&A

Q
Connecting the USB output to my PC, and Audacity, converting to a WAV or AIFF file, what will the "resolution" be? That is to say, does Audacity do the converting from analog to digital, and thus saves the files in the "high definition" of a WAV or AIFF file? Also, do you recommend a different file format for a higher definition digital file?
johnny  May 05, 2017
2 answers
A
USB outputs are digital not analog, the conversion from analog to digital has already taken place. Audacity can change the format.
philip  May 06, 2017
A
The teac unit does the A/D conversion and outputs in the following format: PCM 48kHz/16-bit The Audacity software receives that raw digital format and then allows you to save that in a number of other lossless or compressed file formats. I personally like using lossless formats like FLAC or ALAC to save on space but keep the same resolution that it was sourced from.

Q
what is the range of tracking force adjustments for the tone-arm?
thomas  May 19, 2015
5 answers
A
The dial on the counter weight reads from 0 up to 2.5
harry j j  May 24, 2015
A
The recommended stylus pressure is 2.0g. The counterweight is adjustable so that you can go higher if you need to. Adjusting the weight higher will reduce the life if your stylus. If you adjust I lighter that 2.g you will get jumping and skipping.
roger  May 20, 2015
A
The adjustment ring is marked in increments of .25g, ranging from .25g up to 2.25g. The pre-installed cartridge is recommended for 2.0g.

General question. I inherited a nice collection of 78s. What quality TT will play them as well as 45s & LPs?
floyd  Apr 13, 2015
5 answers
A
Not this TT-there are a number of manufacturers the that make 3 speed TT's-and you will also need a 78rpm needle and or cartridge.
robert  Apr 15, 2015
A
Sorry to say it's only switched for 331/3 & 45
aaron s  Apr 14, 2015
A
SImply put: NO, it runs only at 33.3 & 45 RPM. If you haVE conversion software you can.
preston  Apr 14, 2015
A
The Teac TN-300 does not support 78 speed.
harry j j  Apr 14, 2015
A
I dont recall seeing ANY TT that play 78s.

Q
What's the bit rate/sample rate of the USB output? Can you make loseless audio files or only MP3? Thank you
mario  Jan 03, 2015
2 answers
A
First, I recommend you read pertinent articles on the internet regarding ripping music from an LP. I have not used the usb output on the TEAC yet, but I have downloaded recording software which is required before ripping songs from an LP. My understanding is the limiting factor in the type of file to be used (i.e. mp3, aflac, etc.) is the recording software, not the turntable.
john  Jan 04, 2015
A
Hi Mario - sorry I can't answer for you. Just got it out of the box and haven't made my way to UBS yet. But love the sound of the turntable. Far superior to my older Sony

Q
do I need a different cartridge to play 45s, if not would a 45 ruin the existing cartridge?
terry  Mar 16, 2017
5 answers
A
Your cartridge will work fine for both 33 & 45 rpm records.
jeffrey  Mar 18, 2017
A
If the 45 does not have a lot of scratches or dust on it should not be a problem.
chris  Mar 17, 2017
A
You can play 45's with this cartridge just need a center hole adapter for the vinyl.
robert  Mar 17, 2017
A
No you do not need a different cartridge. The only think that is different between the record types is the speed at which the record revolves.
michael  Mar 17, 2017
A
Nope, 45's play just fine. I have a bunch of them and listen to them often.

What other equipment do I need to use this turntable (amplifier etc)?

A
I have a Yahama natural sound receiver and a Niles SI- 275 System Integration Amplifier. I have my unit connected to these and it runs beautifully.
steven  Oct 23, 2016
A
I recall debating if it needed an external preamp to boost output to an amp. Once set up, this wasn't necessary, and mine is connected directly to a 75 watt amp. Great turntable - just plug and play! I hope this helps. Jeff
jeff  Oct 23, 2016
A
Hi, you will need to plug this turntable into a stereo receiver/amplifier using the provided RCA red/white cables. If your receiver/amplifier has RCA connections for a "Phono," then plug the RCA cables coming from the turntable into the "Phono" jack and turn the Phono EQ switch on the rear of the turntable to the off position. If your receiver/amplifier does not have a "Phono" jack, then plug the RCA cables coming from the turntable to a CD jack and turn the Phono EQ switch to the on position. Obviously, you will need speakers hooked up to the receiver/amplifier but I am assuming you already knew this. Hope this helps and good luck.
donald j  Oct 22, 2016
A
This turntable has a pre-amp built in. You could hook it up to an amplifier if you want, but it's not necessary. I have hooked it up directly to my Bose radio and played through those speakers. The turntable comes with a USB cable and can be connected to your computer to play through the computer's speakers or record all your LP's to digital using a downloadable app. I have never hooked it up to speakers directly, but there would be no way to adjust the volume. I see there's a nice price break on the turntable now....
roger  Oct 22, 2016
A
You can either connect it directly to a receiver or because it has a built in amp you can hook directly to a sound bar etc. I have mind hooked to a Bose SoundTouch.
sheila  Oct 22, 2016
A
Yes an amplifier with auxiliary inputs and speakers. It has a built in phono preamp. This is an awesome turntable for the price.
mitchel  Oct 22, 2016
Q
My Sony STR-DN1060 A/V Receiver does not have a direct phono input. Where does Crutchfield/Teac recommend the turntable connect to on a receiver such as mine?
michael  Mar 17, 2016
1 answer
A
The TEAC has a built-in Phono pre-amp so you can connect it to any available pair of RCA audio inputs on the back of your receiver. "Built-in Phono Equalizer w/ Phono & Line Output: Thanks to its built-in MM Phono equalizer amplifier, the TN-300 supports Phono or Line output which allows you to play vinyl with a stereo that is or isn't equipped with Phono input. The gold-plated terminals prevent oxidation of the RCA terminals and head shell connectors." You will find this information, and more, by clicking the "Details" tab on the turntable's main webpage and scrolling down below the "Features & Specs" table. I hope that helps! Are your usb speakers powered? You still need a power source. It does have a USB output but I use the analog hook up to my powered audiobox. I would call customer service on that question. Its a super dope turntable. I bought the Cherry last year before the other colors were available and get complements on it all the time. Super sleek!
matthew  Dec 04, 2015
A
The USB is only for transferring vinyl to your PC. Theoretically, you should be able to play through your computer with the right software. I personally don't use it. Instead I have it hooked up to both my 7.1 system and a Bose Sound Touch 2. I have the analog plugged directly into the Bose and the music is incredible. Hope this helps.
sheila  Dec 04, 2015
A
The turntable is not connected to the speakers, rather it is connected to the amplifier. So you should check if your amplifier has a USB port(s).
steven  Dec 04, 2015
Q
What is the maximum height without the dust cover? I need to put this in a cabinet that has exactly 4 inches of clearance. Is the arm height too high for that?
laura  Mar 31, 2015
12 answers
A
Hi Laura, the tone arm is about 4 inches from the surface the table rests on and when you lift the arm it is nearly 5 inches high. Also, I have experimented with putting the table in cabinets and found that it does not sound so good when there is something above it; ends up sounding boomy and the definition is lost. If you can, put it on top of the cabinet.
bryan  Apr 12, 2015
A
4" probably won't give you enough room because the counterweight area of the arm is 4". You need a little room to maneuver above that height.
lorin  Apr 10, 2015
A
Hello Laura, the height from the bottom of the turntable to the tonearm (which is the highest part of the turnable assembly if you don't take the dust cover into account) is exactly 4". I wouldn't recommend you buying it if you can only place it in the cabinet you mention. It may be to tight / it may not fit. Other than that, the TEAC TN-300 is a great product. i personally love it and haven't had any issues with it.
diego  Apr 05, 2015
A
The unit will barely fit. The Tone Arm lock down hook may have to be removed. But....even though the Arm release lever can be adjusted to any height, the Arm counter weight will likely exceed 4 in. height when the Arm drops to the record.
roger  Apr 04, 2015
A
The highest point on the tonearm mechanism is 4 1/4" inches. Without the dust cover. Hope this helps! JW
jeff  Apr 02, 2015
A
Arm is just slightly taller than 4" at the pivot connection. Like 4.25 maybe. Don't think it is going to fit.
richard  Apr 01, 2015
A
Hello Laura, I measured it carefully, It's just under 4 inches. I would hope that your 4'' clearance is a pull-out drawer as surely you'd have difficulty placing a record safely on the turntable with only a 4" clearance.
steven  Apr 01, 2015
A
Hi Laura, I just measured my unit and I believe that it is 4" EXACTLY so it might be a tight but it should fit
jose  Apr 01, 2015
A
The height of the arm is approximately 4 1/8" and over 4 1/2" with the dust cover.
robert  Mar 31, 2015
A
Ironically, the total height from the base feet to the tone arm is about 4 inches. Honestly, I do not know of any [even decent] turntable out there that would fit within a 4 inch high space for you to handle properly. My own Teac [same model] rests within my entertainment console on a 1 foot high shelf space. Keep in mind that this is a precision manual turntable, and you need the space to handle the rear cue to lift and lower the tone arm. I strongly suggest you plan another setup for your components. Challenging as that may be, it will be worth the effort. The Teac is a sturdy, good performing turntable. By all means, do not deprive yourself.
michael  Mar 31, 2015
A
The height of the player arm is exactly 4.25 inches - too high when it's in the up position.
roger  Mar 31, 2015
A
Height is exactly 4 inches, and would not fit in an opening that is 4 inches. You would need more clearance for this to fit.
johnny r  Mar 31, 2015
Q
Will this unit work with blue tooth speakers?
chris  May 29, 2016
1 answer
A
The TEAC TN-300 doesn't have any built-in Bluetooth audio output capabilities; so unless you were using it with some kind of 3rd party adapter, there wouldn't be anyway to connect this turntable to a Bluetooth speaker. I hope that helps. My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=159

Can't help. Hooking up later this month. Sorry
brian  May 10, 2015
A
I think so, but I have had a difficult time balancing the tone arm according to the TEAC instructions. Quite simply, following the TEAC instructions does not work. Maybe the "alignment of the cartridge" has something to do with this? I am not a turntable expert, however.
donald j  May 08, 2015
A
yes just plug it in and tighten the head nut
mike  May 08, 2015
A
Yes, the cartridge is factory installed and aligned . Just carefully remove the stylus protector and you're all set to go.
michael  May 08, 2015
A
Yes.
alan  May 08, 2015
A
The cartridge is already installed in the head, you only need to make adjustment to the counterweight on the other end of the needle arm. Simple. There are also directions how to take out and replace new cartridge. Enjoy your new turntable!
roger  May 08, 2015
A
The cartridge on mine was aligned properly out of the box.

Q
Where is the rubber belt that is wrapped around the sub-platter? Is the sub platter the steel turntable? This is step 3 on installation.
laura  Jan 07, 2015
4 answers
A
If you flip over the aluminum platter, you will find a smaller circle and the belt is wrapped around that. Don't feel bad, it fooled me for a little bit. It is easiest to slightly pull the belt away from the platter while its flipped over and then put a finger through the hole in the top of the platter to hold it away from the turntable itself. Then, flip over and lay the platter back onto the turntable with the belt pulled away with your finger and feed it onto the pulley. Little tricky, but once it's set up it is completely worth the effort. Really good sound!
erich rj  Jan 08, 2015
A
Laura, On the bottom of the platter the belt is already wrapped around the hub. Just carefully grab the belt as you place the platter on the shaft and pull it out a little, (use the slotted hole on top for this) then place the end of the belt around the motor shaft. Make sure it is not twisted.
johnny r  Jan 08, 2015
A
The following technique worked for me. Flip the steel platter over. You are now looking at the sub platter. The black rubber belt is in a groove around the sub platter. Once you've located it, flip the platter back over. Pull the belt away from the platter through the round opening, wrap it around your index finger and place it on the motor pulley.
