Features

Overview: The JVC GC-XA1 Adixxion is a versatile action camera for capturing HD video or 5 megapixel still images. Its "quad proof" design lets you record in extreme conditions. The Adixxion's tiny size and multiple mounting accessories makes it easy to attach to most anything. In addition to recording videos and still images, the camera can stream audio and video via Wi-Fi, or act as a wireless webcam.

Quad Proof: The GC-XA1 is built to withstand the following extreme conditions:

• Waterproof: The camera can operate for 30 minutes at a depth of 5 meters (16.4 feet). (IEC Standard publication 529 IPX8)
• Shockproof: It is able to withstand a company-tested drop onto 1-3/16" plywood from a height of 2 meters (6.5 feet). (MIL-STD-810F Method 516.5 Shock)
• Dustproof: Meets dust resistance standard, equivalent to IEC Standard publication 529 IP6X.
• Freeze-proof: Designed to withstand freezing temperatures down to -10°C (14°F).

Pocket-sized: The Adixxion's tiny form factor makes it easy to attach it just about everywhere. It weighs just over 1/4 pound, and is only 1-7/16"W x 2-1/8"H x 2-15/16"D. It has two standard 1/4" tripod mounting sockets for attaching the camera at virtually any angle, and to any of the multiple accessory mounts.

Battery: The camera is powered by the BN-VH105 Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery (3.7 volts, 1050 mAh). It charges in the camera via USB in approximately 5-1/2 hours. With the optional AC-V17UL AC Charger, you can charge the battery in 3-1/2 hours. A fully-charged battery can power the camera for approximately 70 minutes of continuous recording, or 40 minutes of typical recording.

Lens: The GC-XA1 has an F2.8, fixed focus, super wide-angle lens (170°) for capturing all of the action. It has a focus range of 23.6"-infinity. Two GL-LP001 lens protectors are included. The built-in digital zoom allows you to zoom in from 1x to 5x.

LCD Monitor: The camera's 1.5" LCD lets you monitor your recordings in progress or watch your videos and photos in playback mode. The camera's menu settings can be set using the LCD monitor as well. A clear plastic LCD protection film is included to help prevent scratches to the monitor.

Storage Media: The camera records video and still images onto SD, SDHC, and SDXC memory cards. No memory cards are included with the camera.

Image Sensor: The Adixxion is equipped with a 5 Megapixel CMOS image sensor.

Video Resolution: The GC-XA1 Adixxion action camera can record Full HD video in MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 format with AAC audio. The QuickTime-compatible MP4 files can be easily viewed on PCs and Macs. There are five video resolution options:

Still Images: The camera can record 5 MP still images with a resolution of 2592 x 1944. Approximately 3600 images can be stored on an 8 GB SDHC card.

White Balance: The GC-XA1 offers one automatic and five manual white balance settings: Auto, Daylight, Fluorescent, Tungsten, Blue (marine), Green (marine).

Picture Inversion: The Picture Inversion feature allows you to invert the pictures on the monitor so you can view them from above.

Digital Image Stabilization: To reduce camera shake, the Adixxion offers digital image stabilization (DIS).

Recording Modes: The Adixxion offers several shooting modes:

• Self-Timer: Allows you to take photos with a 10-second time delay.
• Endless REC: Allows you to record video for 15 minutes without stopping.
• Time Lapse: Allows you to record still images at specific intervals for playback as a single video file. You can set the interval to 1 second or 5 seconds.

Connections: Behind the battery compartment cover, there are two connectors: a Mini USB 2.0 port for connecting to your computer, and a Mini HDMI connector for connecting to an HDTV. A short USB cable is included. A Mini HDMI-to-HDMI cable is required for viewing videos and still images on a TV.

Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi Compatibility: The GC-XA1 has built-in Wi-Fi allowing you to share your videos and photos, as well as a range of other functions. Using the WiVideo application (Windows only), your computer will search for your camera and connect automatically. Once you are connected, you can wirelessly transfer files from the camera, watch live streaming video from the camera on your computer, and use the camera as a wireless webcam for online video chatting.

Note: WiVideo is compatible with Windows XP (SP3), Vista (SP2), and 7 (SP1).

Mobile WiVideo: In addition to connecting wirelessly with your computer, you can use your mobile phone or tablet to connect to the camera via the WiVideo app, available for iPhone/iPad and Android systems. You can also use your mobile phone as a remote control to take photos or videos from the camera wirelessly. There are different methods of connecting: via access point, via mobile hotspot, or directly to camera.

Ustream: Ustream enables you to wirelessly broadcast the live video of your camera to multiple locations. People can monitor the camera on their iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Android phones and tablets, or on a PC on the Ustream website.

Available Accessories

Optional Accessories: The following accessories are available for the GC-XA1 Addixion action camera:

• Handle Bar Mount: The MT-HB001 Handle Bar Mount is for bikes and motorcycles. It fits pipes from 7/8" to 1-3/16" in diameter.
• Roll Bar Mount: The MT-RB001 Roll Bar Mount is for sports motor vehicles, such as as ATVs and UTVs. It fits pipes from 7/8" to 1-5/8" in diameter.
• Twin Shooting Mount: The MT-TS001 Twin Shooting Mount allows you to attach two cameras in the same spot.
• Flexible Mount: The MT-FM001 Flexible Mount adheres to a flat or curved surface with the supplied double-sided tape. It contains a ball joint unit, and 2 mount bases.
• Goggle Mount: The MT-GM001 Goggle Mount attaches to goggle straps between 1.18" and 1.57" in width.
• Lens Protector: A 2-pack of clear plastic GL-LP001 lens protectors.
• Battery: You should have a spare BN-VH105 battery for longer shooting times.
