For the price, you cannot go wrong with JBL. I have been using JBL speakers for 20 years in my home and was excited to try JBL speakers in the car. I was not disappointed in the least. The speakers offer decent lows but more importantly, clear mids and crisp clean highs. You'll only be disappointed if you're expecting them to sound like Mark Levinson or Paradigm speakers.

Pros:

Clean, clear sound, fair handling

Cons:

Does not handle low-range sounds very well; but then again, it's not designed to.

Used the as replacement woofers for my 04 Dakota Quad Cab. A lot cleaner sound from the JBL's over the OEM speakers. Highs are nice and crisp. Original speakers were 6" so don't get quite as much bass. To use them in the front door requires re-using the OEM mourning bracket. The stock woofer is glued down to it so it is pain. Plus you have to trim one of tabs off the supplied spacer to fit the OEM bracket. Rear speaker installs were simple. Overall sound is a nice improvement for very small investment.

Pros:

Nice highs, clean overall sound

Cons:

Front door install tricky for 04 Dakota, less bass then OEM speakers

Quick and easy replacement of my existing speakers that were starting to die off intermittently. By the way I see some users saying there was not enough bass response. My radio is not a high end unit but I still had to lower the bass boost because it was so strong. It appears some people don't know how to adjust the bass , mid range and treble on their car sound systems.

Good budget speakers

These are good, and nice looking speakers that are remarkably clear with good mids and highs. The bass is average because of the size. The construction seems durable and feels good quality. I think they would do best as back speakers. I did need special wire connecting terminals that weren't included to fit in my 2001 Toyota 4runner. Also the bracket was hard to work with at first.

Pros:

mids, highs, doesn't distort with eq, build quality, compact size, price

bass, needed special terminals

Really decent speaker for the price, small size not meant for bass but does a good job at lower levels. Sounds good when used as the main front speaker with the topdown in a Jeep wrangler. Prompted me to buy the matching JBL 6.5 for the rear sound bar.

I put these in my jeep Cherokee front doors. They sound great for the price, but not much bass response. Highs were clear at any volume.

Great sound; replaces fatory original speakers from 1989; So easy to do I wish I had done this years ago. Base is good for a small speaker and the treble comes through very clear and sharp.

I explained to the Crutchfield tech that I was looking for 51/4 speakers that will be played at a high volume because they are being installed in a convertible car. They recommended the JBL speakers. They do the job; couldn't ask for more at this price.

Wow. The speakers replaced GM factory units that were disintegrated. I got 4 of these, 2 for front doors, 2 for rear doors. What a difference. I always loved Crutchfields offerings, but had no idea how great their packages really were. Not much guess work... all the instructions were simple, the kits included everything. But the speakers.... I can proudly say without a shadow of a doubt, these are some of the best speakers I could have bought. I am really pleased w them and considering their price point (cost) I am ecstatic. Way to go Crutchfield...Way to go JBL

Great small speakers, not great installation hardware supplied

I purchased a set of JBL GT6-5's (5-1/4 two ways) for my Corolla. Some feedback on the installation:-The adapters it came with said to use the screws that come with the speakers to mount the speakers, but the speakers did not come with screws. The speakers' documentation confirmed this. To mount the speakers, I purchased 8x of #4-40 screws (1 inch long), nuts and washers. I think these should be shipped with the product.

Other than that, the speakers offered a noticeable increase in treble and crisper mid-range over my stock speakers. To give you an idea of my setup, I have them powered by an aftermarket stereo and they are supported by subwoofers in the trunk.

Neutral point: 5-1/4" speakers look tiny, even compared to stock. I think this is the reason the bass is weak, but if your speakers are not visible and you have some bass in the back, this doesn't matter.

Pros:

Higher highs and crisper mids than stock.

Cons:

They do not come with mounting hardware.
