Overview: The JVC UX-J51 is a CD micro component system with a
built-in dock for iPod, USB (2.0) input, and an FM/AM tuner. It's comprised of a
single main unit and a pair of two-way, bass reflex speakers. Most functions are
controlled using flush, top-mounted touch keys illuminated in blue, with the
exception of volume, which is handled by a large, silver knob on the main unit's
front panel. A full function remote control is also included.

2-Channel Amplifier: A key performance feature is the system's
separate left and right channel amplifiers, each rated at 40 watts (80 watts
total power). The amplifier is rated at 40 watts per channel (RMS), driven into
4 ohms, at 1kHz, with no more than 10% THD.
Two-Way Speakers: The two-way speakers feature a one-inch (2.5cm)
soft-dome tweeter and a 4.375-inch (11cm) cone woofer. The two-way speaker
utilize a bass-reflex enclosure with a rear-firing port for better bass and
higher efficiency. Each speaker features a pair of spring-loaded terminals to
attach the included speaker wire. The speakers features a removable cloth
grille. The speakers can handle up to 40 watts and are rated at 4-ohm.
CONEQ Technology: The system's audio performance is optimized using
CONEQ technology that matches amplifier and speaker performance to ensure
equalized power levels across all frequencies, resulting in a clean, natural
sound throughout the listening area.
Tone Controls: You can adjust the system's low, mid, and high range
tones to suit your preference. The range is adjustable between -8 to +8 dB.
D.Bass: The D.Bass function allows you to enhance the system's bass
response. You can set the D.Bass between 0 to 10.
Tuner Functions
AM/FM Tuner: The JVC UX-J51 Micro Component System features a built-in
AM/FM tuner.
Station Tuning: The micro component system offers auto and manual
tuning.
- Auto: The radio automatically tunes in to the next station each
time you press the tuning key. Repeat this step until you are tuned in to
your preferred station.
- Manual: Press the tuning key until the desired station is tuned or until
you reach the desired frequency.
Preset Stations: You can store up to 40 FM/AM stations in any
combination.
External Antennas: The unit includes an FM wire antenna (push-in) and
AM loop antenna (spring-clip).
Disc Playback
CD Player: The JVC UX-J51 Micro Component System featured a
compact-disc tray for CD, CD-R, and CD-RW disc playback. The unit supports
playback of both 12cm and 8cm discs.
MP3/WMA Compatible: The JVC UX-J51 supports the playback of MP3/WMA
audio files recorded onto CD-R and CD-RW discs in ISO 9660 Level 1/2, Joliet, or
Romeo format. The unit can recognize up to a total of 512 files & folders
(maximum folders: 99 / files per folder: 511). The unit will also display ID3
and WMA tags.

Playback Modes: The JVC micro component system offers Random, Repeat,
and Program playback modes.

External Device Inputs
USB Port: The JVC UX-J51 is equipped with a top-panel USB (type-A)
port for playback of audio files stored on a USB Mass Storage Class (MSC)
device. The unit's USB port supports playback of MP3, WMA, and AAC audio file
formats recorded onto a USB MSC compliant device in FAT 16/32. The UX-J51 can
recognize up to 65,534 files and 512 folders. The unit will also display ID3,
WMA, and AAC tags. You will be able control basic music functions, such as
Folder/File selection, Play/Pause, Stop, Fast Forward/Reverse, Skip Track
(Next/Previous), and Repeat from the unit's remote control.

Note: The unit's USB port does not support iPod/iPhone
connection.
iPod Dock: The JVC UX-J51 Micro Component System is equipped with a
top-panel iPod dock connector for audio playback, music navigation, and charging
of your docked iPod. You will control the iPod from its clickwheel or
touchscreen for advanced music navigation. From the included remote you can
control basic playback functions, such as Play/Pause, Fast Forward/Reverse, Skip
Track (during Now Playing mode), Album Select, Repeat, & Shuffle. All song
information will be display on the iPod's LCD screen. This unit does not offer
iPod text display. The JVC
UX-J51 is "Made for iPod compatible" and supports the following specific iPod
models (as of Nov. 2010).

Note: Apple iPod/iPhone software updates may
change functionality results. If you download a newer software
version, you may need to reset the device and your iPod/iPhone to
regain functionality. If this doesn't work, you may need to revert
to the older software version or wait until an newer software update
is available.
Auxiliary Inputs: The JVC micro component system features two
rear-panel analog auxiliary inputs. There is one stereo RCA input and one 3.5mm
minijack input.
- Stereo RCA: The unit has one stereo audio RCA input for
connecting your VCR, tape player, or MD player.
- Stereo Minijack: The unit also has one 3.5mm minijack input for
connecting your portable MP3 player.
Note: You can adjust the input level of these auxiliary inputs to
match your other connected sources. You can adjust the input level in
a range from -3 to +5.
Digital Input: The JVC UX-J51 features rear-panel optical digital
input for connecting a DVD player or Satellite Receiver/Cable Box to the system.
The system will play back PCM (32, 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96 kHz) digital audio
signals.
Audio Outputs
Speaker Output: The JVC UX-J51 Micro Component System is
equipped with four binding-post speaker terminals to attach the system's
speakers with the included speaker wire.
Analog Output: The UX-J51 Micro Component System features a
rear-panel analog output to record audio to a connected tape deck or CD-burner.
Digital Output: The JVC micro component system features a rear-panel
optical digital output to connect the system to your Dolby Digital home theater
receiver.
Subwoofer Preout: The micro component system is equipped with a
rear-panel mono subwoofer preamp output to connected a powered subwoofer to the
system for better bass reproduction.
Headphone Output: The JVC UX-J51 features a front-panel 3.5mm
headphone output to connect a set of headphones for private listening. When
headphones are connected, the system's speakers are muted.
Convenience Features
LCD: The JVC UX-J51 Micro Component System features a front-panel blue
back-lit LCD for displaying clock, station, source, and menu information.
Dimmer Adjustment: You can adjust the unit's display brightness. You can
choose between four settings (1, 2, 3, or Normal).
Display Saver: If the system is not used at all for a set period of
time, this function scrolls the display to prevent burn-in of the text on the
display and uneven display brightness.
Clock: The JVC UX-J51 features a 12-hour digital clock.
Dual On Timers: This function allows you to use the time to start
playback automatically at a specified time. You can set two different timers.
You can play back audio from an AM/FM station, CD, iPod, or USB device. You can
also set the timer volume. You can set a daily, weekly, Mon-Fri, or weekend
timer.
Sleep Timer: This function automatically turns the system off after a
set interval. You can set an interval from 10 to 90 minutes, in 10-minute
increments.
Auto Power Save (APS): The Auto Power Save (APS) function
automatically turns off the system if no operation is performed for 30 minutes
after a CD disc or a USB device which is connected stops playing.
Remote Control
Wireless Remote Control: The JVC UX-J51 Micro Component System
includes an IR remote control for wireless operation of the system and basic
operation of your
docked iPod or connected USB device.
One Touch Operation: This system features a convenient one-touch
operating function. When in Standby mode, pressing the Play button on the
included remote for CD, iPod, or USB, will automatically turn the unit's power
on and start playback of that source.
