Streetwires

Our take on the StreetWires 14-gauge Ultra Cable™ Speaker Wire

by Buck Pomerantz

Don't let low-grade speaker wire be the weak link in your car audio system. Get every ounce of juice from your amplifier to your speakers with StreetWires Ultra Cable twisted-construction copper wire.

The installation-friendly, non-gripping wire jacket is flexible yet rugged. The lower the gauge, the thicker the wire — we recommend 14-gauge wire if you're connecting a subwoofer or component speakers to a moderately powerful amp. Warranty: 1 year.

This StreetWires 14-gauge Ultra Cable speaker wire is available by the foot. Enter the number of feet desired in the "quantity" field of your shopping cart. For a secure, good-looking installation, use StreetWires speaker wire terminals, too.

Serious speaker wire!

Written By Joe, Scottsdale, AZ on Monday, June 01, 2009
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is some legit speaker wire. The clear plastic sheath is thick and tough. It's easy to work with and install. One piece of advice, order more than you think you need. I originally thought I was going to install the amp under the passenger seat and since it didn't fit there I ended up going in the cargo area which caused me to run out. I had to go to the local car audio store and pay twice as much for half as good wire.

These are some serious speaker wires. Worth every penny. The only problem is trying to work with these when it was 20 degrees outside they dont like the move too much so id recommend for warmer environment when installing.

StreetWires 14-gauge Ultra Cable™ Speaker Wire

Written By Dustin, Sacramento, Ca on Wednesday, March 04, 2009
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought 100ft to install 2 sets of components in my 06' Frontier Crew Cab. and used all 100ft. The wires had a great quality feel to them, but the fact they were so insulated by the outer plastic or what ever it is, got annoying.

When running the wires though the door grommets, proved to be a chore, but it was doable. In the Rear doors where both 6.5's and tweeters were located behind the door panels, i had to cut off the outer plastic to fit wires for both tweeters and 6.5's, which took time, but again, doable. (i know i didnt need to install full componets in the rear, but i wanted to anyway)

I made the mistake of running the left side of the trucks speakers behind the trim in the rear, which also was next to the 4gauge power cable, and it interfeared (sp?) too much to where the speakers wouldn't work, Once i removed the wires from the area, they came back alive, So I just need to run the wires though the middle of the truck on the way back.

All in all, its nice that there is so much protection for these wires, but running as much as I did, it was a PITA getting it though all the trim along the sides, and though the door grommets. But finally getting it all done, I can live with it. Just ask your self if you want the hassle or not. I don't think it does any shielding other than protecting it from the elements around the wire itself from point A to B.

Excellent wire!

Written By Rick, LA Cal. on Wednesday, September 19, 2007
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I found these wires to be superb, and easy to work with. On my truck I had to drill to get speaker wires to the doors. the outer covering is just under 3/8", so a 3/8" hole is perfect for running these wires. A little dab of silicone and you have a weather tight fitting.
I am very happy with these wires, and I would purchase them again.

StreetWires 14-gauge Ultra Cable™ Speaker Wire

Written By Casey, Arkansas on Friday, June 15, 2007
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Like the person before me said, cut along the length of the wire with some narrow scissors and then cut around to get the outermost protective sleeve off. This sleeve comes in very handy because it doesn't snag as much as just the insulation on the wire would, and it helps protect the wires very well. The sound quality of these wires is exceptional and since the wires are twisted, it keeps all noise or interference out. Overall, GREAT wires for a pretty affordable price.

Quality product at good price

Written By Stefan, Chicago, IL on Thursday, April 19, 2007
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Crutchfield offers great price - hard to beat.
Wire is easy to work with.
The outermost protective sleeve makes it easy to fish through odd places and protects the wires from damage very well. I think the best way to remove the protective sleeve from the ends (so you can connect the wires) is to cut (with scissors or wire-cutters) from the end along the length of the wire. When you've cut to the length you want to remove, just cut around the two wires. Otherwise, it's easy to accidentally cut into the wires. They look pretty slick too, and sound quality is exceptional.
