Features
Overview: The StreetWires Power Station Digital Capacitor (1
Farad, 20/24 Volt) maintains
consistent voltage to your audio system. When your turn up the volume on your
audio system, you put more strain on your vehicle's electrical system and even
more so during severe transient peaks and heavy bass loads. The result is a
voltage drain on your electrical system with decreased output from your audio
system and other vehicle electronics. Adding the Power Station Digital Capacitor
helps prevent this and keeps your headlights from dimming when your bass hits.
The capacitor increases the performance of your car audio system by reducing the
voltage changes in your power delivery system caused by large loads, in doing so
it delivery large quantities f power in a very short amount of time which will
result in increased system performance.
Digital Display: The PSC401D features a Digital Voltage Display and
also offers current sensing activation and shut down, as well as audible
warnings.
Mounting: In order for the digital capacitor to deliver the maximum
possible performance it should be located as close to the amplifier as possible.
The digital capacitor comes supplied with a pair of metal mounting brackets and
four self-tapping screws to firmly secure the capacitor to a metal or wood
surface in your vehicle.
Connections: The use of 4 gauge cable for the positive and negative
connections are recommended for installing the digital capacitor. The length of
the cables should be kept as short as possible and the wire connectors should be
fastened securely under the capacitor terminal studs. The capacitor's terminal
studs measure 0.275" in diameter.
Charging Capacitor: The digital capacitor comes supplied with a
resistor for initial charging for the device. Remove the negative cable from
your vehicle and system batteries and install the included resistor in place of
the main power fuse. Connect all power cables to the appropriate battery
terminals and wait approximately 10 minutes for the capacitor to fully charge.
Once charged, the resistor may be removed from the fuse holder and the main fuse
reinstalled.
Note: Use caution when touching the resistor as it will have
heated up while charging.
Discharging Capacitor: The resistor should be kept to discharge the
capacitor if removed from system. Remove the negative cable from the vehicle and
system batteries. Then place the resistor between the positive and negative
terminals of the capacitor. Quickly do so and release the resistor, as it will
become hot while discharging the capacitor. Wait approximately 10 minutes for
the capacitor to discharge and check with a digital voltmeter to make sure the
voltage is at a nominal level (less than 1 volt). It is now safe to remove the
capacitor from the vehicle.
Note: It is a good idea to leave the resistor installed on the
capacitor while not in use.
