Customer Q&A

Q
What happens if the dry wall is already up, but not yet textured or painted. Can these brackets still be used?

If your drywall is already up, these brackets are useless for you. Just cut out holes in the drywall using the guide that comes with the speaker and install.

No. These brackets do not offer support. The drywall is the support. These are used so the the drywall installer knows where the cut outs will be.

I am not sure if u really need them, if the dry wall is already up. in my observation they do not give any support. It is a correct guide for the opening to be made.

No. the only reason for the brackets is for the drywall installers to leave a hole in the wall where you want your speakers to be installed. The brackets provide no additional support outside of what the drywall does. Just make sure you have allowed enough room between studs to fit your speakers before you cut your holes. you should have a template for each of your speakers to do this. The brackets speed up installation in new construction tremendously and are a great product if you were able to purchase prior to drywall installation.

Tyler, up front, I'm not the expert on the use of these brackets. I wound up not using mine as I had some custom wall-mounted enclosures made from 3/4 MDF. These bracket are designed to be mounted between studs and allow you to precisely locate their placement before mounting the speakers. Also, these brackets function as mounting reinforcements for your speakers; your Polks are quite heavy and I would not recommend mounting them directly to sheetrock (although this is possible). Unless you can figure out some way to strengthen the sheetrock before mounting your Polks, I would suspect your best bet would be to take down some sheetrock, mount your brackets and re-rock.

It's no problem!

Tyler These brackets really only help the drywall installer locate exactly where you wish the speakers to be installed. Once the drywall is up they are not needed. I don't believe they offer any added support. the drywall is all that's needed.

You wouldn't really need to use these if the drywall is up already. These are more of a "placeholder" for new construction.

I would have to say no. The side braces are to be attached to the vertical studs. Drywall is then placed over the side braces and bracket. You then cut the drywall to fit the bracket.
