Q
Why do the brackets cost so much more here than on Amazon? Speakers are less but Brackets are 25% more!

They are actually the same price if you get the actual polk audio ones. Sure you can find 3rd party one that are much cheaper but you might have a hard time finding the exact size or quality.

I couldn't figure that one out either! I found mine on ebay and they were the best price, although I had to buy them from multiple sellers. Hope this helps!

Q
Are these truly necessary for new construction installs? $50 is pretty steep for plastic

they make things easier, but not 100% necessary.

i had the same concern, but they did help since the drywall guys can fit around them nicely. also you can tuck and in my case strap tie the speaker cord to them so they dont get lost in the process. i think i was able to get an open box one which where a little cheaper so check there. overall, it will make your life easier during install, and if the sheet rockers screw it up, they can find and fix it. good luck. todd

If you are having sheet rockers installing over framing then yes it is worth the money to get a clean finish. You can cut the holes in later but you'll need to note the locations of the wires.

Makes installation a whole lot easier and cleaner. The speakers sit more secure on the brackets versus being screwed into drywall.

Not necessary but it's nice to know the speaker is being held up by more than the drywall, the straps nail into studs. I feel it made for a cleaner install also. I went with Polk speakers so they were pretty heavy. I installed them two yards ago no problems. Worth the $$.

IMO, you don't need them. However, they do make it easier to cut a clean hole. I used them because my builder was a tool and insisted on brackets. I think he wanted them there as guides for the ceiling Sheetrock guys. Otherwise you get a hole perhaps off center.

A
Not necessary, but it does make it easy for the dry waller to router the holes exactly where you want the speakers.

Q
Will these fit the Polk Audio 80F/X-RT model?

It should fit if the speaker is 8" round ceiling or wall type.
