USB Port With USB Streaming: The camcorder's USB 2.0 port and supplied cable provides an easy way to connect the Net Sharing Camcorder to your computer for fast transfer to your PC for uploading and sharing still images and video files. The camcorders USB port also supports USB streaming and allows you to broadcast live video with audio over the internet. In addition, you can charge the Net Sharing Camcorder via the USB 2.0 connection for ease of use and portability.
Notes: Live movies output via the USB port to your PC will be output in a 320x240 (30fps) Motion JPEG format. Movies streamed will not be displayed on the LCD screen of the camera.
AV Out: The NSC-GC1 features a 3.5mm audio/video output and comes supplied with a composite video/mono-RCA audio cable for connecting the camcorder to your television so you can playback your still images or recorded videos on your television's screen. The camcorder's video output supports both NTSC and Pal video formats.
2.4" SwivelScreen LCD Display: The high resolution 112,320K pixel (480 x 234), 2.4" LCD screen rotates up to 270 degrees for multiple viewing angles providing sharp, detailed images for monitoring or playback. The LCD display has two brightness level settings.
Note: The Sony NSC-GC1 Network Sharing Camcorder does not feature a viewfinder.
1/2.5" CMOS Imager: The Network Sharing Camcorder's 1/2.5" CMOS imager provides great detail and clarity for still images along with outstanding digital video performance. The CMOS sensor provides a total pixel count of 5,040,000 with an effective pixel count of 5,040,000 for still images and 460,000 for video images.
4x Digital Zoom: The camcorders 4x Precision Digital Zoom uses interpolation allowing the digital zoom to be clearer, with less distortion than previous types of digital zooms.
Note: The Network Sharing Camcorder does not feature an optical zoom.
SteadyShot Picture Stabilization: The camcorder's SteadyShot Picture Stabilization System uses motion sensors to detect and compensate for camera "shake" without compromising picture quality like some other digital stabilization systems.
Recording Media: The Network Sharing Camcorder features a 4MB internal memory and supports Memory Stick Duo and Memory Stick Pro Duo media cards (Memory Stick Duo card not supplied) for recording JPEG still image files and MPEG4 video files. You can copy all of the recorded images on the internal memory to an inserted Memory Stick Duo card (you cannot copy individual images). Image/Movie Resolution: The Network Sharing Camcorder features the following Movie and Photo sizes.

Note: You can select from two compression rates for each still image photo size. You can choose Fine or Standard.
Shooting Modes: You can select from the following Shooting Modes when using the camcorder.
- Normal: shoots single image; does not shoot continuously
- Burst: records a maximum of 3 images in succession
- Exposure Bracketing: records a series of 3 images with the exposure values automatically shifted for each one; you can select the image with the appropriate exposure after recording
- Self-Timer Recording: If you want to record yourself, the self-timer recording feature will automatically start recording 8 seconds after being activated. Using the self-timer, you can record still or video images.
Close-Up Mode: During normal shooting you can focus on objects as close a 3 feet and 3-3/8 inches. Close-Up Mode allows you to focus on objects even closer. You can focus on objects as close as 1 foot and 11-5/8 inches.
Camera Modes: The Sony NSC-GC1 features the following Camera Modes.
- Auto: allows easy shooting with the settings adjusted automatically
- Program: allows you to shoot with the exposure adjusted automatically (both the shutter speed and the aperture value); also allows you to select various settings using the camera's menu such as the EV setting
- Scene Selection: allows you to shoot
with the preset settings according to the current scene; you can select from
the following scene modes
- Twilight: shoots night scenes without losing the nighttime atmosphere
- Twilight Portrait: shoots sharp images of people in a dark place without losing the nighttime atmosphere
- Soft Snap: shoots images with a softer atmosphere for portraits of people, flowers, etc
- Landscape: shoots with the focus on a distant subject
- Hi-Speed Shutter: shoots moving subjects outdoors or in other bright places
- Beach: shoots seaside or lakeside scenes with the blueness of the water captured more vividly
- Fireworks: shoots fireworks in all their splendor
- Candle: shoots candlelit scenes, without spoiling the atmosphere
Exposure Value: The Sony NSC-GC1 allows you to manually adjust the camcorders exposure by setting the unit's light intensity level from +2.0EV to -2.0EV in 1/3EV increments.
Histogram: The NSC-GC1 features the ability to view a histogram on the LCD monitor screen. A histogram is a graph showing the distribution of tones in the image.
Flash Mode: The Network Sharing Camcorder is equipped with a built-in flash for taking still images and features the following flash modes.
- Auto: automatically strobes when there is insufficient light or backlight
- Slow Synchro: the shutter speed is slow in a dark place to clearly shot the background that is out of flash light
- Forced On: flash always fires
- Forced Off: flash never fires
Note: The Flash Level can be increased or decreased in 1/3 EV increments. The flash has a range of 11-7/8" to 6 feet and 6-7/8".
Red Eye Reduction: This feature makes the flash strobe two or more times before shooting to reduce the red-eye phenomenon when using the flash.
White Balance: The camcorder's White Balance feature adjusts the color tones according to the lighting condition of your subject. You can choose from the following.
- WB Flash: adjust for the flash conditions (you cannot select this item when shooting movies)
- Incandescent: adjusts for places under incandescent lamps or under bright lighting such as in a photo studio
- Fluorescent: adjusts for fluorescent lighting
- Cloudy: adjusts for a cloudy sky or a shady location
- Daylight: adjust for conditions outside under a clear sky, at sundown, night scenes, the presence of neon signs or fireworks
- Auto: adjusts the White Balance automatically
ISO: The NSC-GC1 allows you to select a luminous sensitivity with units of ISO. The larger the number, the higher the sensitivity. You should select a larger number when shooting in dark locations or shooting a subject moving at high speed and select a smaller number to obtain higher image quality. You can choose from ISO: 80, 100, 200, 400, or Auto.
Color Modes: The Sony Network Sharing Camcorder offers the following Color Modes.
- Black & White: sets the image to a monochromatic color
- Sepia: sets the image to a sepia color
- Vivid: sets the image to a bright and deep color
- Off: no effect
Saturation: You can adjust the saturation of an image to brighten or darken the colors of a subject.
Sharpness: You can adjust the sharpness of an image to sharpen or soften the subject.
Auto Review: Auto Review displays the recorded image on the screen for approximately two seconds immediately after shooting the still image.
Index Screen: The camcorder's playback Index Screen allows you to view 9 still images or 9 video images or a combination of both at one time.
Playback Zoom: The Playback Zoom feature allows you to zoom in and out of a recorded still image and pan the image left/right and up/down.
Slide Show Playback: The camcorder's still images can be played back in a slide show fashion from a single folder or all folders. You can adjust the slide show interval from 3, 5, 10, 30, or 60 seconds. You can also set the slide show to repeat for a continuous loop.
Still Image Rotation: Recorded still images can be rotated on the LCD screen 360-degrees.
Resize Still Images: You can change the image size of a recoded still image and save it as a new file. The original image is retained even after resizing. You can change an image size to 5M, 3M, 2M or VGA.
Divide Movies: You can cut movie or delete unnecessary scenes of movies.
Protect Mode: This features protects your recorded still images and videos from accidental erasure.
Print Mark: You can place a print mark on still images recorded with this camera. This mark is convenient when you have images printed at a shop that conforms to the DPOF (Digital Print Order Format) standard.
Exif Print (Exif 2.21): The NSC-GC1 conforms to "Exif Print," a worldwide standard. Vital camera settings and scene data are recorded to the image file when it is captured. Printers compatible with "Exif Print" are able to use this information to produce high quality photographs, exactly the way they were intended at the time of capture. This intelligent communication process also allows the printer to correct for poor lighting or mistakes, resulting in photos that can be even better than the originals.
PictBridge Printing Capability: Using the supplied USB cable, you can connect this camera directly to a PictBridge compliant printer. PictBridge is a new standard that allows you to connect a PictBridge compliant camera directly to a PictBridge compliant printer and make prints, regardless of brand.
Built-In Lithium Ion Battery: The camcorder features a built-in Lithium Ion battery. You can charge the battery at anytime because unlike NiCad (Nickel Cadmium) batteries, the camcorder's built-in rechargeable Lithium Ion battery is not subjected to a life shortening "memory effect". The table below shows the charging time and the approximate time (min.) that images can be recorded and played back with the built-in battery at full capacity and an ambient temperature of 77-degrees Fahrenheit.
