About the MTX MXA3002
MXA series amplifiers continues the MTX tradition of building high-quality products that meet the demands of the most discriminating audio enthusiasts.
The versatile MXA3002 2-channel amplifier can perform multiple roles in your audio system. In 2-channel mode, it delivers serious power to your high-quality full-range or component speakers. Switch the amplifier to single-channel operation and send 300 watts to your subwoofer. Thanks to its state-of-the-art power supply and heavy-duty heat sink, you'll enjoy clean and reliable power output.
Built-in frequency filters tune the amp's output to get the most out of your speakers. The variable bass boost circuit features a remote level control allows you to adjust the bass output right from the driver's seat. High- and low-level inputs allow you to connect this amp to any system.

Features
Inputs and Outputs Notes
CEA 2006 Compliant: The MTX MXA3002's power ratings are measured according to the strict standards dictated by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards allow you to accurately compare the rated power output of all CEA 2006-compliant amplifiers, even if they come from different brands. Manufacturers who adhere to the standards can display the CEA 2006 logo on their products and packaging.
Heatsink: The amplifier's high-mass extruded aluminum heatsink provides maximum thermal management and greater reliability.
Speaker-Level Input: The amplifier comes with a speaker-level input harness, which allows you to connect the amp to a receiver without RCA jacks. The harness wires should be spliced to the left and right speaker wires (front or back) of the radio.
Smart-Engage: When using the speaker-level input, the amp automatically turns on when it senses signal from the head unit, eliminating the need for a remote turn-on connection. In many cases, this feature will allow you to install the amplifier without removing your radio.
Bass Boost: You can select a bass boost level between 0 dB and 18 dB to enhance the bass performance of your sound system. The bass boost is centered at 40 Hz.
Internal Crossover: The built-in crossover, adjustable from 40 Hz to 350 Hz, can be set for high-pass or low-pass operation, or it may be turned off for full-range output. The crossover has a slope of 12 dB/octave.
Remote Subwoofer Level Control: The Remote Subwoofer Level Control lets you adjust the output level of the amplifier from anywhere in the vehicle. It is only active when the internal crossover is set to low pass operation, and will attenuate the amp or increase its output to the level of the main gain setting. The module is attached to a 17.75' cable which plugs into the Remote Gain 3.5mm minijack on the side of the amplifier. A bracket and mounting hardware for the Remote Subwoofer Level Control are included with the amp.
Protection Circuits: The MXA3002 has the following protection circuits:
- Thermal: If the amplifier gets extremely hot, the amp will turn itself off, allow it to cool down to a normal operating temperature.
- Over/Under Voltage: If the battery voltage received by the amplifier is less than 11 volts or exceeds 15 volts, the amplifier will shut off. The amp's LED indicator will flash on and off to indicate a voltage problem.
Performance Certificate: MTX tests each amplifier, and the technician records the "actual" power output on the Audio Performance Dyno Certificate included with each amp. The amp must meet or exceed the rated specification in order to leave the factory.
Set-screw Terminals: The power and ground set-screw terminals will accept up to 4-gauge wire. The remote turn-on, capacitor, and speaker set-screw terminals will accept up to 8-gauge wire.
Note: The power and ground terminals have an attached note that reads: "You must use 4 gauge power/ground wire!" Smaller gauge power/ground wires are not recommended.
Remote Gain: The 3.5mm minijack allows you to connect the supplied Remote Subwoofer Level Control.
