These baffles will protect your speakers. In many applications we recommend that you cut a hole in the bottom of the baffle, or remove the entire bottom of the baffle, to maintain good bass response while still protecting your speaker from dirt and water damage. Call one of our Advisors if you have questions — they'll be happy to share their expertise with you.

Features

Overview: These acoustic baffles are designed to be placed behind car speakers to protect the speaker from moisture and dirt which can damage speaker components. Along with providing a sealed chamber, they also form a mounting seal between the speaker and the mounting surface to eliminate panel to frame resonance. Baffles will improve door acoustics by reducing road noise and vibrations transferred to the back of the speaker cone. The baffles are pliable and can be compressed to fit most applications.

Q
I'm worried about my jbl concert 8621f 6x8 rear deck speakers from my 2 12" subs in the trunk, I noticed my deck speakers flexing with the movement of my subs?
jerry k.  May 14, 2023
1 answer
A
It could be that the air pressure inside of the trunk is pushing the speaker cones outward. Speaker baffles could be used to give your JBL speakers their own air space. However, I would recommend getting the 6X8 baffles instead of the 5x7. Here's a link to the 6x8 option: www.crutchfield.com/p_237XT68/item.html

Q
What are the proper steps in installing a speaker baffle ? Do I have to poke a small hole for speaker wires to go thru ?

A
I sandwiched the flat portion of the speaker baffle between the speaker flange and the door. I did have to make a small hole in the baffle for the wiring to pass through.
james  Mar 05, 2015
A
Yes just use a Phillips screwdriver poke a small hole to thread the wires through. You can then use some silicone to seal the hole if you want to but it's not necessary
christopher  Mar 04, 2015
A
You need to cut off the bottom of the baffle so the speaker may resonate but leave everything else there
samuel  Mar 04, 2015

Jose, depending on install yes that is the only thing you need to do. We installed these in my sons Ford Range both in the doors and behind the seeats. Doors were straight up poked small hole usong a soldering iron to run was res up, behind seat was a bit harder, had to shorten the length by cutting the hack off and sliding front over back and glue both parts using an adhesive chalk. Reason was behind seat had little depth. After install sounds were great. Truck had only door speaks and am/fm

Yes and also for the screws.

Yes you do and you may want to cut a small hole in the bottom depending on what speaker you use. Ask a advisor at Crutchfield for advice.
