Input Mode Settings: The CD/DVD, Video 2, and DVD/6ch inputs each include jacks for both digital and analog input. You must select which of the inputs is to be used (factory default is digital). If you select the digital input, you can choose (a) Auto Sound: The unit automatically selects between Dolby Digital, DTS and PCM based on the input signal and the speaker setting, or (b) D-Manual: The user must select between Dolby Digital, DTS and PCM.
Source Direct: For analog sources, you can use this function to pass the signal directly to the amplifier, bypassing any audio processing.
Display Dimmer: The display brightness may be set to one of three levels.
Multibrand Remote: The VR-506 comes with a remote that will control not only the receiver's functions and other Kenwood components, but also many popular brands of audio and video equipment, including DVD players, televisions, cable boxes, VCRs, and DSS receivers.
