Combine clear, smooth DVD picture quality, high-performance audio capabilities, and a healthy measure of convenience: what you've got is Kenwood's DV-6050, a great addition to any home audio/video system! It sports a handy 5-disc changer design — load it up with movie and music discs, and enjoy the show.

Thanks to the DV-6050's video circuitry, DVD movies look simply fantastic, whether you have a standard television or you're using a newer HDTV-ready model. (In fact, it uses Faroudja's acclaimed DCDi™ technology for improved clarity when sending a progressive-scan signal to your TV.)

This player's also a pro when it comes to audio. It handles your CDs, home-burned CD-Rs, CD-RWs, and MP3 CDs, and even super-detailed DVD-Audio discs. And since it was built to handle high-resolution music, it gives you superb sound with regular CDs, too.

Features

DVD-Audio Playback: DVD-Audio is a multi-channel format used for high resolution audio recording. DVD-Audio boasts a higher signal-to-noise ratio, wider frequency response, and wider dynamic range than CD. The flexibility of the format allows DVD-Audio software to contain various channel configurations (such as 6-channel audio for home theater speaker systems, or 2 channels of ultra-high-resolution audio) and convenience features (such as lyrics, liner notes, and still images that display on your TV). This unit can decode and play DVD-Audio discs with a sampling rate up to 192 kHz with a 24-bit word length. Note: DVD-Audio recorded with this sampling rate is passed through the analog outputs only.

MP3 Playback: This unit will play MP3 files recorded onto CD-R, CD-RW, and CD-ROM discs using the ISO 9660 Level 1 and Level 2 formats. This unit is capable of playing MP3 files compressed from 32kbps to 320kbps. Each disc can have a maximum of 999 folders or 999 files.

Audio D/A Converter: This unit has a 192kHz/24-bit D/A converter that will allow it to play back DVD-Audio discs recorded with 192kHz/24-bit audio and DVD-video discs recorded with 96kHz/24-bit audio.

Digital Audio Output Capabilities: The digital outputs are capable of passing linear PCM digital signals from DVD Video discs with sampling rates as high as 96kHz. If a DVD Video disc with 96kHz sampling rate is copy protected, the unit will down-convert the sampling frequency to 48kHz before passing the signal through the digital outputs. All DVD Audio signals are down-converted before being passed by the digital outputs.

Virtual Surround: When playing a DVD-Video disc with Dolby Digital surround audio, powerful surround sound can be reproduced even if you only have two speakers.

Cinema Voice Function: This function makes dialogue easier to hear by raising the volume of the center channel.

Progressive Scan Output with Faroudja's DCDi: This unit has a progressive scan output featuring Faroudja's patented Directional Correlational Deinterlacing (DCDi). This technology applies new motion adaptive deinterlacing that prevents the introduction of motion artifacts and jagged edges from video signals that originated from video cameras (such as with sporting events, live camera feeds and music videos). The result is a sharper, noise-free picture with finer details. Video images are displayed with optimum naturalness and color reproduction with less flicker and fewer motion artifacts than traditional interlaced scanned pictures.

Video D/A Converter: This player uses a 54MHz/10-bit video digital-to-analog converter, which reduces digital artifacts for a better picture.

Digital Video Enhancement Circuit: In addition to the 54MHz/10-bit video digital-to-analog converter, a Digital Video Enhancement circuit by Faroudja increases resolution by processing both vertical and horizontal signals and independently processing large and small edges to provide excellent detail.

Component Video Output: In addition to the composite video and S-video outputs, this unit is equipped with a component video output. When connected to a television with a component video input, the component video output of this unit will provide color and detail that is superior to video from composite and S-video outputs. The component outputs can be set to pass either progressive or interlaced video.

Disc Exchange: You can exchange up to 4 discs while playing a fifth.

Memory Playback: When you register a scene you like in memory, you can start playback from that scene any time you want. Up to 10 scenes can be registered in memory. Scenes are deleted from memory when the player is turned off or the tray is opened.

Resume Function: The Resume function allows the player to remember the point where you stopped play as long as the unit is on. Playback will resume from the point stored in memory. The stopping point is cleared if the unit is turned off or the disc is exchanged.

Scan Search: When playing a DVD-Audio disc, DVD-Video disc, Video CD, audio CD, or MP3 CD, there are five fast-play speeds in both directions.

Slow Motion: When playing a DVD-Video disc or Video CD, you may move forward through the program being played in one of five slow motion speeds. When playing a DVD-Video disc, you may move backward through the program being played in one of five slow motion speeds.

Program Play: When playing a DVD-Audio disc, Video CD or audio CD, up to 32 tracks can be programmed and played in any order.

Random Play: When playing a DVD-Audio disc, Video CD, audio CD, or MP3 CD, you can play the tracks on the current disc in random order, or you can play all the tracks on the loaded discs in random order.

Repeat Play: "A-B Repeat" allows you to select any portion of a title, group, or track and play that portion repeatedly. When playing a DVD-Audio disc, you can repeat the current track, group, disc, or all the loaded discs. When playing a DVD-Video disc, you can repeat the current chapter, title, or all the loaded discs. When playing a Video CD or audio CD, you can repeat the current track, disc, or all the loaded discs. When playing an MP3 CD, you can repeat the current file, folder, disc, or all the loaded discs. In addition, you can repeat Program Play and Random Play.
