About the MTX RFL152
If your aim in life is to create cataclysmic bass, if your only desire is to blow away your car audio competition, then listen up the MTX RFL152 might be the biggest, baddest subwoofer you'll ever encounter. Just ask competitors at the 2001 Spring Break Nationals, where this dual 2-ohm woofer captured two first-place awards in its debut on the soundoff circuit.
Of course, that's exactly what MTX engineers intended when they built this 15" sonic titan to put you in the winner's circle of SPL competition! The RFL152 checks in at an incredible 56 pounds of pure bass mayhem, and its 4.35" of woofer cone excursion helps to accommodate a meter-blowing 4,000 watts of peak power.
The RFL152 is built differently than the subs it consumes for breakfast. The inverted surround is made of multi-layer polyester, so it won't split apart when you turn up the power. A die-cast aluminum mounting ring separates two 3-layer spiders to provide additional strength. And many of its parts are bolted together because adhesives can't bind them. No wonder it's shipped in a wood crate, not a flimsy box.
In fact, this sub comes ready for total sonic detonation. MTX includes a replacement cone and voice coil assembly in the crate. That way, you're not out of the running if you blow it up at the big show. You can rebuild it on the spot and not skip a beat. Now, that's power!
Note: If you are wiring this DVC sub for lower impedance, make sure that your amp is compatible. Most car amplifiers are stable down to 2 ohms in standard mode, or 4 ohms in bridged operation.

Note
Dual Voice Coils: For increased system flexibility, the woofer has two 2 ohm voice coils. When the voice coils are wired in parallel with each other, the woofer presents a 1 ohm mono load. When the voice coils are wired in series with each other, the woofer presents an 4 ohm mono load. In addition, each coil may be connected to a different amplifier channel and each channel will see a 2 ohm load.
Surround: The inverted roll surround is constructed from multi-layer polyester.
Spiders: The woofer features two 3-layer spiders.Die-cast Aluminum Mounting Ring: A die-cast aluminum mounting ring separates the two 3-layer spiders to provide additional strength.
4.35" of Total Excursion: For maximum impact, the woofer offers 4.35" of total, peak-to-peak excursion.
Weight: The woofer weighs 56 pounds.
Replacement Cone Assembly: With the RFL, if you can blow it up, you can rebuild it. The woofer comes with a replacement cone and voice coil assembly so you can rebuild it on the spot, at the show.
Spring Post Inputs: The inputs are spring post connectors that will accept bare wire, tinned wire or wire terminated with pin connectors.
Enclosure Compatibility: This woofer can provide extended bass in vented and bandpass enclosures (please see the "Enclosure Compatibility" section for more information on enclosures).
Recommended Vented Box Volume: The vented box sizes recommended by MTX range from 4.5 cu/ft to 6.5 cu/ft. The vented enclosure MTX highlights on the woofer specification sheet is 5.5 cu/ft, so this is the enclosure recommended by Crutchfield. MTX recommends a vent with the following dimensions: W=10", H=11", L=9.75".
Recommended Single Reflex Bandpass Volume: The bandpass box sizes recommended by MTX range from 6.0 cu/ft to 8.0 cu/ft. The bandpass enclosure MTX highlights on the woofer specification sheet is 7.0 cu/ft, so this is the enclosure recommended by Crutchfield. The 7.0 cu/ft enclosure has a sealed chamber volume of 1.12 cu/ft and a vented chamber volume of 4.48 cu/ft. MTX recommends a vent with the following dimensions: W=10", H=11", L=9.75".
