Installation Description
I started by building a subwoofer enclosure that would fit behind my seat. I wanted as much bass as I could get without having to pull my seat too far forward. The box has four separate enclosures that house four Infinity Reference 10" subs. Since the truck didn't come with rear speakers, I also separated two smaller enclosures on the upper outside corners of the box to hold my Alpine 3 's. I then stuffed each enclosure of the box with poly-fill stuffing since the air space was a little less then the suggested volume. Finally I carpeted the box with thin gray box carpet. The four 10's are wired in series-parallel and are connected to a Rockford Fosgate power series 750 amplifier, which of course, has a 1 fared capacitor in line to keep it happily supplied with juice.
Next I installed a Sony minidisc deck and Alpine 5 " 2-way speakers in the doors. Instead of using the deck's amplifier, I connected it to a Kenwood 4-channel amp which powers all four of my full range speakers. I also installed a remote-mount DVD player under the seat, which is connected to a 6" Sony LCD monitor mounted on my dash. The audio from the DVD player goes into the deck and plays through my stereo system. I have a 4-gauge wire running from my battery that powers the subwoofer amp, and a second 8-gauge wire that powers the Kenwood amp and the DVD player. I can now play CD's, MP3 CD's, home-recorded minidiscs, or DVD videos in my truck. Thanks to the products and technical support of Crutchfield, I was able to turn my boring factory stereo in to a sweet mobile theater system with crystal clear highs and plenty of bass.
