Crutchfield camera experts get a hands-on look at Sony's Alpha DSLR-A350 digital SLR.
Dave: Hi, I'm Dave.
Zak: And I'm Zak.
Dave: And we're here today to look at the Sony DSLR-A350 digital SLR camera. Zak, this camera has a 14.2-megapixel image sensor for taking very fine, detailed shots.
Zak: Impressive.
Dave: The other thing about it I like is that it has image stabilization built in, and instead of in the lens, the image sensor itself actually moves to compensate for camera shake to keep the pictures from blurring. And the nice benefit of that is that no matter what lens you use on this camera, you get the benefits of the image stabilization since it's in the camera, not the lens.
Zak: That's really great.
Dave: And the other thing I'd like you to take a look at...check that out.
Zak: Oh wow. This feels pretty good. It's comfortable to hold. I like it.
Dave: It is nice.
Zak: Look at that. The LCD screen tilts up and down.
Dave: And it's also got a live-view mode that you can switch to right on the top there.
Zak: Oh that's nice.
Dave: So that you can actually line up your subjects and compose your photos on the LCD screen, just like you would on a point-and-shoot camera, so that, you know, people transitioning from a point-and-shoot to an SLR feel a little more comfortable. You know, that definitely helps.
Zak: Yeah. You can shoot right over somebody's head with this, with the screen tilted down.
Dave: Exactly.
Zak: That's really great.
Dave: Yup.
Zak: The Sony 'A350 is available with the 18-70mm zoom lens that you see here. Or it's available with this lens and this 55-200mm zoom lens, so you can get really nice tight shots in there. And there it is — the Sony 'A350 digital SLR.
