In this short video, Julie and J.R. highlight the top features of Samsung's A650 and A750 Touch of Color LCD HDTVs, including their unique bezel design and 120Hz refresh rate.
JR: Hi, I'm JR.
Julie: And I'm Julie.
JR: And we're here today in the Crutchfield studio with the Samsung A650 and A750 Touch of Color LCD HDTVs. This is the 46" A650 we have with us here.
Julie: And the thing that really jumps out when you first look at these TVs is the sort of subtle hint of red that's built into the frame.
JR: Yeah, we asked Samsung: why pay so much attention to how the outside of the TV looks? And they reminded us that most people have their TVs off, more than they have them on.
Julie: Um-hm.
JR: So why not make the TV look good all the time.
Julie: And furniture maker Bell'O actually followed this logic by designing this stand that matches both the A650 and A750 Touch of Color TVs.
JR: It's beautiful.
Julie: And you can see that there's this little hint of red around the edge.
JR: Yeah.
Julie: So if you're going to use these TVs as the center piece of a home theater room, it means you have this really consistent look from top to bottom.
JR: Sweet.
Julie: Another thing that's useful to know about this stand is that even though it might look kind of short with us standing behind it, it's actually bringing the TV to the exact right level for viewing by someone who's sitting down in their living room.
JR: Yeah, and both the 650 and the 750 have full 1080p resolution.
Julie: Mm-hm.
JR: So not only does the outside look good, but the inside looks great as well. So your Blu-rays look nice, your HDTV looks great — it's just a, it's a very nice picture.
Julie: Yup, and these TVs also have 120 Hz, which means that if you're watching sports, you're going to have, sort of smooth fast action motion, like...
JR:...baseball pitches, and touchdowns, and stuff like that.
Julie: Yeah, and that's not true with every TV, but with 120 Hz, you do get that.
JR: Also if you'll notice on the side over there, there's a USB input.
Julie: It's right here.
JR: So that you could connect in a USB thumb drive or a hard drive, and turn this into a big, gorgeous digital photo frame. You could play music files from your USB and with the 750, you could also play some video files.
Julie: That's right.
JR: Now, the 650 has the touch of color at the top and the bottom; the 750 adds it to the left and the right as well.
Julie: It's a really beautiful television. Another difference that you're going to find with the A750 is that it has a woofer built-into the back, so it takes sort of typical TV audio and makes it fuller, richer, deeper.
JR: So would that sound good enough to replace like my surround system or a surround bar, or anything like that?
Julie: No, it doesn't quite take you that far. What it means is that the 750 becomes a really good choice for something like a bedroom or an office where you might not have a sound system.
JR: Ok.
Julie: Or as an interim measure if you haven't, you know, added a sound system yet, but you're planning to.
JR: So the A650's a perfect center piece for any home theater. It looks great, it sounds great. The 750 looks a little nice, and sounds a little nicer.
Julie: That's right. And you can learn more about these TVs at crutchfield.com or you can call us at 1-888-955-6000.
