Product Research

Features

Wireless Subwoofer Kit: The Yamaha SWK-W16 wireless subwoofer kit allows the wireless connection of any powered sub with an LFE or RCA input to Yamaha's YSP-5600 soundbar speaker (022YSP5600, sold separately) for boosting bass sound. You won't need to use any connecting wires between the YSP-5600 soundbar and your powered subwoofer.

Compatibility: The Yamaha SWK-W16 wireless subwoofer kit is designed specifically for Yamaha's YSP-5600 soundbar speaker (022YSP5600, sold separately). It allows wirelessly connectivity between the YSP-5600 soundbar and any powered sub with and LFE or RCA input.

Wireless & Wired Connectivity: The Yamaha SWK-W16 wireless subwoofer kit features a built-in 2.4GHz RF receiver which wirelessly receives the LFE audio signal from Yamaha's YSP-5600 soundbar speaker and sends the low frequency signal to your powered sub's LFE or RCA input via its mono-RCA output jack and included 9.75' mono-RCA cable. If your powered sub features a stereo RCA input, you will need a Y-adapter (sold separately).

Note: The Yamaha SWK-W16 has a wireless range of approximately 33'.

System Connector Jack: If you have a Yamaha powered sub with a 3.5mm system connector jack, you can connect it to the SWK-W16 kit's 3.5mm system connector jack for on/off control. When an audio signal is sent to the SWK-W16, your compatible Yamaha powered sub will turn on. When there is not audio signal being sent to the SwK-W16, your Yamaha powered sub will turn off.

Mounting Options: The Yamaha SWK-W16 wireless subwoofer kit can simply be placed on a flat table-top surface. If you prefer, it can be wall-mounted using its two integrated key-hole slots (mounting screws not included).

AC Power: The Yamaha SWK-W16 wireless subwoofer kit operates off of standard household current via its internal power supply an attached 6' AC power cord.

Customer Q&A

Q
Will this work without soundbar? Or can I connect to another bluetooth device?

A
I doubt it. It is designed to support the Yamaha line of soundbar's built in wireless sub out function.

Q
Does this cause interference with your 2.4 GHz WiFi network? It is using the same spectrum.

A
I have not had any problems with network interference. My WiFi router (Apple AirPort Extreme, 3rd gen) sits in the entertainment console directly below my YSP-5600 Sounds bar, with the subwoofer/SWK-W16 across the room. It's typical for us to have someone connected to WiFi in another room while the sound bar is in use, and we have not had any problems. I have also streamed video from my laptop or phone to the Apple TV connected to the sound bar, with no problems. So my experience is there is no problem with the SWK-W16 causing interference on a 2.4GHz WiFi network. I know you didn't ask, but I am also very happy with the audio quality delivered to the subwoofer. As an audio/video-phile I've been skeptical about wireless delivery of audio content. I have not been disappointed in any way with this one. I hope this helps.

I have both 2.4 and 5 GHz WiFi network and the SWK-W16 has not caused any interference on either.

A
I was unsuccessful in using the wireless adapter and use the wired configuration which works seamlessly.

Q
I know this says it is compatible with "any brand of subwoofer with mono or stereo RCA inputs", but do you lose any functionality using it with something like a Polk Audio PSW108 that doesn't have a "System Connector" connection?
david  May 14, 2017
1 answer
A
Hello. Your Polk model DOES have RCA inputs, so you're good! My Cambridge Soundworks BassCube 85 has dual RCA's, one of which is designated "Mono", and that is the input I use with the Yamaha SWK-W16. Not sure what you mean by "lose any functionality...", however, you should '"lose" nothing with this wireless subwoofer kit.
