Want to keep your audio/video gear in a cabinet or a closet for a clutter-free setup? This Sanus repeater system lets you use an existing remote to control your components when they're tucked away out of sight.

The compact infrared (IR) receiver is the only part of this system that's visible. Position it discreetly within range of your remote, such as next to your TV. The receiver sends signals to the hidden repeater hub and on to the included flashers, which can control up to four components.

Features

Overview: The Sanus Elements ELM501 IR repeater kit makes it easy to give your home theater a clean, seamless appearance; even while you are using it. This small IR receiver can be located in a discreet location on top of furniture or next to a TV to replicate infrared signals from remote controls. The ELM501 filters undesirable signals from sunlight and plasma TVs to provide error-free operation, while LED status lights provide power and infrared signal indication. Simply place the repeater hub behind your TV or other components, and you can operate AV equipment inside closed cabinets with ease. This all-in-one kit contains the necessary elements to control up to four components, and includes both tabletop and hole mounting options.

IR Receiver and Repeaters: This all-in-one kit contains all necessary elements to control up to 4 components. The ELM501 includes an IR hub with an attached IR receiver (42") and two dual IR repeaters (11' each).

IR Replication: The ELM501 IR repeater kit effectively replicates infrared signals (30-60kHz) from remote controls to reach your components stored remotely or hidden in enclosed cabinets.

Light Filtering: The Sanus ELM501 filters undesirable signals from sunlight and Plasma TVs to provide error-free operation.

Status LED: The IR hub features two LED status lights that provide power (red) and IR (green) signal indication.

Installation: The ELM501's 2-piece design allows the IR sensor to be placed in an inconspicuous location, while the IR repeater hub and repeaters can be positioned remotely to control hidden AV equipment. The all-in-one IR repeater kit comes supplied with self-adhesive plastic clamps to secure the IR receiver and IR repeater in place next to your equipment. The IR hub can be mounted using two-sided tape or mounting screws (not supplied).

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't

Q
Have a cable box that is split to two different rooms(office and man cave) and want to use the remote in each room. Will this work?
james  Dec 22, 2016
1 answer
A
As long as the wires to the two sensors in each room are long enough then yes. You can probably buy extension wire. I think it is a standard 3.5mm male female cable.

Q
Which IR repeater will work with a DISH receiver? (I notice that my DISH remote has dual IR LEDs.)
robert a  Jan 05, 2016

A
Any IR repeater should work. It just repeats the initial IR signal. Basically like a mirror would act.

Q
Will this product work with an LG HD LED TV and a Comcast cable box?

Yes this product works well with a LG HD tv and a Comcast box. I have had that setup working well for over a year and no problems.

That is what I have working in my home for over a year now (LG TV and FIOS cable box both Comcast and FIOS use the same manufacture for their cable boxes)...the repeater system works perfectly and VERY EASY to install. Good luck
richard a  Mar 31, 2015

It should work fine. The one issue to be aware of is that you want your cable box and TV to only receive one signal: either the remote or the repeater. We have our gear in a glass-door hutch and we had to shield the cable-box receiver so only the repeater signal got there. When they both get there nothing works.
gregory  Mar 31, 2015

I cannot tell you for sure. I can only tell you it says to work with any device having IR and we have 4 of these and LOVE them with various boxes, TVS, DVDS, etc. They have worked perfect since the first day- so easy to hook up and we keep getting them from Crutchfield. Everyone asks us where our cable boxes are (they are in closets out of site). Enjoy!

I can't answer the question directly, but it DOES work fine with my Logitech Harmony One remotes.

This should work just fine with the Logitech Harmony 650. Equipment should be set for IR that you are controlling with the 650. Hope this helps.
mike  Mar 19, 2015
A
Yes. No problems there.

Q
Will this work with Samsong cable box?
stephen  Dec 08, 2014
4 answers
A
It is not specific to any brand. As long as the Samsung has an IR receiver, it will work. The IR Repeater only takes the same signal that the remote emits and delivers it to the box. I have used it with the following brands: Yamaha, Denon, Motorola, AT&T Uverse, Samsung (DVD), JVC, Vizio, Toshiba, etc.
sina  Dec 09, 2014
A
The Sanus IR Repeater System basically does just that: whatever IR signal you send to the receiver it will be retransmitted out the emitters. If your remote for the Samsung works directly, it should work with the Sanus as well. I'm currently using it for an Apple TV, TiVo DVR and a Sony receiver/Blu-ray device. It works fine for all of them.
larry  Dec 08, 2014
A
Stephen, I've been able to use this any of my devices as long as they use IR. As long as you can place one of the repeaters over the "IR eye" of the device you want to control, you should be fine.
todd  Dec 08, 2014
A
Should work with anything that uses IR.

Q
Does this device allow me to control the ARRIS cable TV /DVR?
wayne  Aug 23, 2014

A
This works very well for our Charter Cable remote, along with our Sony DVD player. The only draw back was finging the proper location that allowed me to run the sensors where they were accessable and less visible. However the little trouble was well worth it as we have our componens out of site. Very user freindly system.
william  Aug 26, 2014
A
It is just an IR repeater. It only transfer signals received. It should transfer commands from any remote that was already capable of originally controlling the device. It allows for IR signals to be transferred via wire to areas that the IR signal can't get to, like another room, AV closet.
sina  Aug 26, 2014
A
Wayne, I'm using mine to control a TiVo, an Apple TV and a Sony theater system. If the ARRIS unit uses standard IR signals, it should work on it as well. All the Sanus unit does is pick up IR signals at the receiving unit and "replay" them at each of the repeaters. The repeater on the Sanus will need to be placed over the receiving IR unit in the ARRIS box, which can be difficult to find. The one on my Sony unit wasn't at all obvious.
larry  Aug 25, 2014

Sorry, I didn't address your item specifically. My cable box/dvr is behind the oak cabinet doors and it works fine with this repeater, but it is a Magnavox, not a Arris, but I see no reason it won't work if it is a infrared system.
edmund r  Aug 25, 2014
A
I have this repeater and it works flawlessly. I built in cabinets and all of my gear is hidden behind Oak doors. Easy to set up, and works like a charm.

Q
Can the IR pickup be extended from the hub on cat5? TV is in on room and equipment in another. More than the 42"

I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: On this product the IR cannot be extended using Cat-5 cable. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.
