If you still plan on watching standard-definition sources, such as DVDs, you'll appreciate Toshiba's state-of-the-art SRT technology. It upconverts standard-def video and further improves picture quality by enhancing sharpness, brightness, and color. So whether you're watching high-def or standard-def material, all your movies, TV shows, and video games will look their best.

Automatic picture adjustments mean less time spent in the set-up menu
With Toshiba's smart new AutoView system, you won't need to worry about manually changing picture settings when you switch from midday viewing to nighttime movie-watching. AutoView continuously monitors the amount of ambient room light, and automatically adjusts the picture accordingly.

When the colors are right, pictures look more real
Toshiba employs a "wide color gamut" backlight to provide a 25% wider color range than typical LCDs. You'll primarily notice deeper reds and greens. And while 8-bit color resolution is normal for LCD TVs, the 42XV545U uses a 10-bit panel, which quadruples the number of possible shades for each primary color (red, green, and blue). The bottom line is that the number of possible hues goes from millions to over a billion, for colors that are nuanced and natural.
