A component speaker system gives you the best possible performance from your car audio system. A system consists of separate woofers, tweeters, and crossovers, each designed to cover one specific range of frequencies. As separate components, the woofer can move freely to deliver more powerful performance, while the tweeter can be custom-mounted in a better spot up closer to your ears, revealing a whole new world of detail. Separate crossovers are far superior to the simple filters wired into full-range speakers, so the components work together for smoother, more focused sound. Boston Acoustics designed the PRO60 SE component speaker system to bring high fidelity sound into your mobile environment. The package combines two 6-3/4" woofers, a pair of 1" dome tweeters, and a set of sophisticated crossover networks to deliver superior reproduction of everything from light classical to the heaviest rock. Accurate, powerful bass A rigid cast-aluminum frame supports the tough copolymer woofer cone so that no extraneous vibrations interfere with the clean reproduction of your music. The woofer's lightweight neodymium magnet and large voice coil help transfer electrical energy into sound efficiently and precisely. Boston's proprietary heatsinks and air vents keep the speaker's inner workings running cool, ensuring dependable and long-term play. The included adapter brackets let you install the woofers in 6-1/2" or 5"x7" factory openings. Superb high-frequency response The 1" dome tweeter, made of a lightweight metallic alloy, produces crisp, detailed high notes without being harsh. For best results, you should mount the component tweeters separately so they'll broadcast the high frequencies more directly to your ears. If that's not an option in your vehicle, a unique design lets you install these tweeters in the woofer cones, so they'll mount in your vehicle's factory speaker locations. Excellent balance The crossovers use separate high- and low-pass filters to assign the appropriate frequencies to the woofers and tweeters in the proper balance. You can adjust the tweeter level to improve high-frequency balance, and also to compensate for a tweeter that's been axis-mounted on the woofer. The crossovers can be docked together to provide another convenient installation option. Important Note: These Boston Acoustics speakers use a low impedance design to pull more power safely from your car stereo or amplifier. This design is compatible with virtually all factory and aftermarket stereos. Note: Boston describes this model as a 6-1/2" speaker. Most manufacturers designate this same frame size as a 6-3/4" speaker. For simplicity's sake we list it as a 6-3/4" speaker. Features Fit Notes Features Woofer: The PRO60SE component system includes copolymer woofers with rubber surrounds. Each woofer has a 1-1/2" diameter voice coil and a neodymium magnet which has a high power-to-weight ratio and a compact size; about one-tenth the size of traditional iron-ferrite magnets. The speaker features a cast-aluminum basket, Radiavent cooling, and an integrated Twinstage aluminum heat sink to draw heat away from the voice coil, increasing the power handling capacity. Tweeter: The PRO60SE includes 1" Type M-1 anodized alloy dome tweeters with AMD (Amplitude Modification Device) for a smooth high frequency response and linearity. AMD is a patented acoustical tuning device that uses precisely sized hollow tubes positioned in front of the tweeter to refocus short wavelength energy and create an extremely smooth, flat response. This is done without using elaborate electronic components that can degrade the sound's purity. The supplied Quick-fit mounting cup simplifies tweeter installation. The tweeters come mounted to the woofer using the axis-mount bracket; they can be removed and with the supplied brackets be flush-mounted or surface-mounted at an angle. Tweeter Dimensions: Frame Diameter Cutout Diameter Mounting Height Mounting Depth Flush Mount 2.040" 1.718" 0.377" 0.981" Angled Surface Mount 1.870" Screw holes only 1.502" Screw depth only Note: See Fit Notes below for PRO60SE dimensions when configured as a coaxial speaker. Crossovers: The PRO60SE system comes with separate woofer and tweeter crossovers for each channel. Each crossover can be mounted separately, docked in pairs, or all four crossovers docked together and mounted as one unit. The crossover inputs and outputs are set screw terminals and will accept bare wire up to 10 gauge. The following crossover adjustments can be made: Tweeter Attenuation: On the tweeter crossovers, you can adjust the tweeter output by placing the supplied jumper on the appropriate terminals; select an un-attenuated tweeter output (0dB attenuation) or an attenuated output of -2dB or -4dB. The factory setting is -2dB. Axis/Component Configuration: On the woofer crossovers you can set the output for axis mount or component configuration. If the tweeter is mounted to the woofer using the axis mount bracket, the jumper should be placed on the Axis terminals (factory position). If the tweeter is removed from the woofer and mounted separately in the flush-mount or angled surface-mount cups, the jumper should be placed on the component terminals. Input Configurations: Separate Inputs: Each crossover (woofer and tweeter) has independent inputs, allowing you bi-amp (separately powering the woofer and tweeter with different amplifier channels) or bi-wire (powering the woofer and tweeter with separate wires from the same amplifier channels) the system. The supplied signal bridge, which shorts the woofer and tweeter inputs together, is removed to bi-amp or bi-wire. Single Input: When powering the component system with a single full-range input, you will need to connect the woofer and tweeter crossover inputs together. This can be accomplished using the supplied signal bridge when the woofer and tweeter crossovers are mounted together. Daisy Chain: When not mounted together, the woofer and tweeter crossovers can be daisy-chained together. The signal output from the amplifier is connected to one of the crossover's inputs; the signal output from that crossover is then wired to the other crossover's input. Note: No crossover frequency or slope information was provided by the manufacturer. They sounded nice with 18 watts rms, but 125 watts really woke them up. I would suggest that a good powerful amp is necessary. The tweeters are very impressive; but the amount of bass the woofers can put out is fantastic ( in a large van). Great transient response, great dynamic range. Great speakers. Pros: Performance. Cons: Large investment. Was this review helpful? Yes | No 5 out of 5 Just Bananas! Written By Marc D, Brevard County, FL on Thursday, January 12, 2012 Well, where should I start. I decided I wanted a sound quality set up this time around instead of just bass, so i purchased these while they were on sale for $399.00. Finally got them installed and I am amazed. Its not even close when comparing these to the two previous comp sets I had (Infinity ref 6.5s and Jbl comps). The pro 60se's have the ability to be bi-amped so that's what I did. 70x2 arc audio 125.2 amp to the woofers, and 70x2 arc audio amp to the tweeters (two sets of tweeters, one from pros, one set of the Ists BA imaging tweeters). All I can say is I was not disappointed. Seriously, my vocals are crystal clear, and mid bass is punchy. The sound is unbelievable. Look no further than these. I don't see how you could honestly get much better sound from speakers. Of course your amps have to be tuned right, but once they are, game over! Pros: Hmmmmmm! I gonna have to go with crystal clear sound when amped and tuned properly, and the different wiring options for the crossovers. Cons: Other than the high price, the installation instructions are not clear on the difference between the wiring options for the crossovers and speakers! It does not indicate the impedance changes with wiring options, or the pros or cons of either way. 1 out of 1 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Yes | No 5 out of 5 Exceptional speakers Written By Russell, California on Friday, September 09, 2011 When I was shopping around for a set of component speakers to install in my 2000 Toyota Tacoma Xtra Cab, I settled between the Polk Audio Mobile Monitor 6.5 component set and this set of components. In my last car I used a set of Rockford Fosgate 5-1/4" components and 6x9 coaxials. These Boston Acoustics Pro60SE components blow anything I've ever heard out of the water. I ran two pairs of these components in my truck off of a JVC head unit before purchasing and installing an Alpine PDX-5 amp with a pair of Polk Audio MM840 subwoofers. When these components were driven by the dash receiver, they sounded positively amazing. They were so clear and they had impressive bass response for 6.5" speakers. I set the tweeters to the -4db attenuation jumper position because they were a tad too bright for me. After setting the jumper, the tweeters were softened a little and just right. Once I completed the system with a PDX-5 amp and Polk Audio subs, these speakers REALLY started to shine! At high volume, these speakers do not show any sign of distortion. They are crystal clear and they handle power very well. I can ear every nuance of my music with these wonderful speakers and I believe this is the best speaker related purchase I have ever made. I would highly recommend these speakers to anyone who has the budget for them and who wants great and clear sound. 2 out of 2 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Yes | No 5 out of 5 Exceptional Sound Written By Kirk, Albuquerque, NM on Monday, April 13, 2009 These speakers sound incredible. They have very detailed and articulate sound. Just like the overview says, set them up as components if you can. Tweeter level adjustments keep your highs how you like, smooth or bright. They play clean and very loud. They are efficient, but I would recommend getting them at least 100 watts of power per channel. You'll be rewarded with great sound with all types of music if you install them nicely. They hold their own if you plan to use them alone. However, if you want more bass add a subwoofer. I would definitely purchase these again and recommend them. 12 out of 12 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Yes | No 5 out of 5 UNTOUCHABLE Written By Robert, MIAMI, FL on Saturday, March 28, 2009 I went from the old school components I had for 7 years to these. The speakers were extraordinary in their own right. They were unfortunately retired due to auto accident. So I searched for a replacement that could be in the same league. I was told to use these BA speakers and I have to say I will never look back. Sound is unparalleled in comparison to pretty much any other component system I have heard. They have good bass response for 6 1/2" woofer. I have thrown everything at them as far as genre and they don't hesitate to reproduce it perfectly. Classical, Opera, Classic Rock, Metal, Hip/Hop & R&B. I have these powered by a kicker 350.4 teamed with the Kappa 462.9cfp's in rear pillars. Kenwood KVT 819 DVD, 3 farad Capacitor, Kicker 750.1 sub amp, 4 Kicker 10" cvt's. Squeezed into a regular cab Silverado. It's sounds like I am the studio. I could not possibly ask for better sound. IT is loud, clear, extremely accurate. In closing if you have the budget for these speakers then there is nothing further to discuss. 8 out of 10 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Crossover Dimensions: Length: 6.476" Height: 1.560" Width: Individual: 1.961" Pair: 3.789" All four: 7.405" Fit Notes PRO60SE Coaxial Mounting: When the tweeters are mounted on the axis mount, the PRO60SEs have the following dimensions: Speaker Size Mounting Depth (Top Mount) Mounting Height Flange Height Cutout Diameter Frame Diameter 6-1/2" 2.030" 1.570" 1.375" 4.922" 5.779" 6-3/4" 2.379" 1.221" 0.957" 5.217" 6.536" 5x7/6x8 2.333" 1.267" 0.947" 5.302" 5.82" x 8.03" 5-1/4" 2.230" 1.098" 0.896" 4.650" 5.479"
5 out of 5 Boston Acoustics Pro60 SE Written By David, W Springfield, MA on Tuesday, February 07, 2012 I had high expectations; but these speakers exceeded them. Yes | No
5 out of 5 Just Bananas! Yes | No

5 out of 5 Exceptional speakers Written By Russell, California on Friday, September 09, 2011 When I was shopping around for a set of component speakers to install in my 2000 Toyota Tacoma Xtra Cab, I settled between the Polk Audio Mobile Monitor 6.5 component set and this set of components. Yes | No

5 out of 5 Exceptional Sound Written By Kirk, Albuquerque, NM on Monday, April 13, 2009 These speakers sound incredible. Yes | No
5 out of 5 UNTOUCHABLE Written By Robert, MIAMI, FL on Saturday, March 28, 2009 I went from the old school components I had for 7 years to these. Yes | No
5 out of 5 EAR BLEEDING SUPER CLEAN SOUND Written By Rehn, MILILANI, HI on Saturday, February 21, 2009 These Speakers are a bit on the expensive side but if you have a truck like i do, and don't have alot of options for getting tons of speakers. are the BEST.even if you only put in one pair of these they will not disapoint. at 3/4 volume i hit 115db and they still sounded crisp and clean. i would have gone to the max but when you turn it off and have a ringing in your ears for several mins, yeah. and rather not get the cops on my tail. 3 out of 6 people found this helpful Was this review helpful?
