About the Polk Audio TSi CS10

Kristen Schaub
Enjoy crystal-clear dialogue and a robust center image from Polk's CS10 center channel speaker. Polk carefully designed its woofers and tweeter using laser testing to help identify and eliminate resonance points. The acoustically inert MDF (medium density fiberboard) cabinet fights internal vibrations that can compromise performance. It all adds up to smooth, accurate sound with movie soundtracks and multichannel music sources.

Enjoy crystal-clear dialogue and a robust center image from Polk's CS10 center channel speaker. The acoustically inert MDF (medium density fiberboard) cabinet fights internal vibrations that can compromise performance. It all adds up to smooth, accurate sound with movie soundtracks and multichannel music sources.

The CS10 is designed with an angled top, so you can invert the speaker for placement on a low shelf to direct the sound towards your listening area. And a woodgrain vinyl finish with stylish piano black sides gives this speaker a refined look, making it an attractive addition to just about any room.

Mix and match this center speaker with any of Polk's TSi series floor-standing or bookshelf speakers. Add Polk's satellite speakers and a subwoofer for a complete surround sound system.

Driver Technology

Dynamic Balance: Dynamic Balance is a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what combination of speaker materials create the least amount of resonance. Eliminating resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion.

Klippel Optimized: Using a state-of-the-art Klippel Distortion Analyzer, Polk engineers were able to optimize the speaker structure and cabinet design for the best possible performance, even at extreme listening levels.

High Efficiency Design: Compatible with practically any AV receiver, the center-channel speakers produces sound that is open, spacious and clear, even when driven by modestly-powered amplifiers and receivers.

Bi-Laminate Composite Woofers: The center-channel speaker features two 5.25" bi-laminate composite (organic fiber) dynamic balance drivers which is light and stiff for deep bass response and low distortion. The multiple smaller driver configuration is capable of better detail than one single large woofer. This design also projects sound over a wider area, so there is a broader "sweet-spot". For high performance and durability, each woofer uses a butyl rubber surround.

Silk dome Tweeters: The center-channel speaker features a 1.0" silk dome dynamic balance tweeter for detailed highs. Each tweeter features mylar bypass capacitors in the crossovers to extend high frequency response and improve detail and transparency.

Frequency Response: The overall frequency response is 53Hz-25kHz and the -3dB frequency response is 63-24kHz.

Enclosure Design

Quality Built Cabinets: The TSi speaker cabinets are extensively braced MDF with ¾" thick baffles and have pewter accents, piano black end caps, and a removable black grille. All models are available in a choice of black or cherry wood-grain vinyl finishes.

Narrow Baffle Geometry: Narrow baffle geometry is a design that creates a sleek looking speaker with great sound. First the high quality cabinet is slender and tucks away easily in your room. The smaller-diameter speaker components are lighter in mass, translating to clearer sound.

Flared Ports: All TSi speaker feature Critically Tuned Flared Ports. Flared Ports minimize port noise ("chuffing") and ensure good low frequency extension with low distortion. With Flared Ports, TSi speakers reveal realistic, natural, full-bodied sound with rich bass. The TSi center-channel speaker uses a rear-firing port.

Connections

5-Way Binding Posts: The center-channel speaker has a pair of gold-plated 5-way binding posts for a superior connection to your AV receiver.

Mounting Options

Placement: The center-channel speaker should be placed directly above or below your television. The TSi series center-channel speaker is magnetically shielded for safe placement near your TV or video monitor.

Rubber Feet: The center-channel speaker comes with four self-adhesive rubber feet so it will sit securely on your stand or shelf.

Q
Why were the cs20 discontinued wouldn't the bigger drivers work great with tsi speakers?
gary  Nov 28, 2021
1 answer
A
We don't have a reason listed for why it was discontinued. As for the bigger drivers, it could be a better match for the tsi speakers with the bigger drivers, but not all tsi have bigger drivers. As for us getting anymore, we are only able to get the CS10 now and recommend it for the best voice matching center channel speaker to the tsi series.

Mounting holes on back or under?

There are no mounting holes on the back. Unless the small footrests on the bottom corners come out, there are no mounting holes there either. Mine sits on a TV table.

How will this pair with Polk T15 bookshelf speakers? Small room - listen to mostly music using a Yamaha receiver and the 5 Channel enhanced sound scene.

I have mine paired with Boston Acoustics book shelf speakers. My sound is great! The Polk center channel speaker is clear and adds good depth to the sound. My recommendation is to play music through the center channel before movies for home theatre. This really "woke up" my speaker! Live sports and movies sound great!
rodney  Jan 18, 2019

Hey Dusty, I don't know. The TSi series speakers are "matched" by Polk to sound uniform. Thus, my purchase. I'd do a web search to see if Polk has matched the T15 with any other Polk center channel speaker.

Q
Will it pair with kef q300's?
paul  Aug 07, 2018
1 answer
A
It's not a good voice match to those Q300 bookshelf speakers. But we carry some center channel speakers that are a good match. I recommend calling an advisor on 1-800-324-9695 for a personal recommendation on a matching center channel speaker. My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=101

Q
'Handles 20 to 125 Watts ' Does this means 20 to 125 Watts RMS? Or?
shago  Mar 14, 2018
1 answer
A
Not sure what your question mean buy my take is the minimum wattage is 20 Watt and the maximum load is 125 watts. Below the minimum wattage you will not be able to drive this speaker on the other hand if you go above the recommend max watts you will blow the speaker.

I have some old Klipsch Tanget II speakers I bought overseas in the Navy. I just bought a Denon AVR-X1300W. I will use my klipsch as front right and front left. I am looking for a center speaker and wonder if the Polk Audio CS10 would be a good match?

I bought a CS10 because it was one of only 2 CC speakers that would fit in my entertainment unit that still sound good. I have Paradigm Studio 20 V2 front channel speakers and Paradigm Atom V5 speakers for the rear, and a Paradigm 10" sub. I was told be the experts at Crutchfield that the Polk CS10 would be a close fit sound wise to what I have. It replaced a Paradigm CC speaker that they no longer make that was 18 years old. I figured it would be soon checking out as far as working. The CS10 was very close in sound to what I have and slightly better the the CC I used to use. I have an Anthem 710 MRX receiver, made by Paradigm.
bob  May 17, 2020

What i can say is that this speaker works like a dream with my Denon AVR-1613. I would imagine it would sound just as good with your Denon.

WILL THIS WORK WITH A FLAT SCREEN TV WITH HDMI CONNECTIONS?

I had mine connected to an onkyo receiver.does not connect directly to a flat tv if that's your idea.
edison  Jul 21, 2017

This is not a soundbar. It only has connections for speaker wire and will require an audio amplifier to provide the power and signal.
austin  Jul 20, 2017
A
Yes, but you must have an amplifier to drive it. It is not a powered speaker. Sounds good though.

I connected my speaker to an audio receiver, which is connected to flat tv screen that has hdmi connections

there are hdmi connections on the tv, but I hooked everything up to a receiver for a complete entertainment system...best bet would be to call crutchfield...there the best info source...

does it support 4 ohm impedance ?

Speakers don't support impedance, receivers and amplifiers do. Just in case it's a 8 ohm speaker and just about all amplifiers and recievers will do fine.

Will this timbre match with Polk RC80i?
john  Mar 13, 2016

They do no feature the exact same tweeter material so it won't be a perfect match but Polk's signature performance will still shine through allowing them to work very well together, yes. I hope that helps! My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=5

Q
Are Polk audio tsi 400 speakers 2 way or 4 way? What is the difference between the two?
sparky  Dec 02, 2015
2 answers
A
This is for sure a 2 way speaker due to the two dimensions tweeter/woofer the speaker consists of. The tweeters have capacitors to extinguish low range. A 4-way speaker has four drivers, the woofer, mid-range and two tweeters. The additional super tweeter enhances the high frequencies, unlike the 2-way speaker which has only two drivers, the woofer, and the tweeter.
john d  Sep 09, 2018
A
The TSi400 speakers use a 2-way crossover to send the high frequencies to the tweeter and the low frequencies to the woofers so they would be considered 2-way speakers. 4-way speakers would use a 4-way crossover to divide the frequencies to 4 individual woofers/tweeters.

Yes they do.

No, it does not. It requires a flat surface large enough to accommodate its four feet, one at each corner of the enclosure. Great value in a center channel speaker - very happy with mine.

I use it as a large speaker. It works great with that setting.
william  Mar 15, 2016

This speaker is actually bigger than it looks. My receiver has a mic'd set up feature, so it sets it up acoustically on its own. That said, I think setting it to large would be fine. I get big sound out of this speaker.

Will this center speaker match my bose 301 (main) and bose 161 (sorround)? I'm looking for bose vcs-10 but it's no longer available.

A
Thanks for your input mr. Scott, by "match" i mean voice match, i checked your recommended speakers and would love to have those, but it will cost me much to ship them since i'm based here in the middle east, and polk is unknown here, so i pretty much would have to stick with my bose unfortunately, do you think polk tsi cs10 would go with them? I also checked svs subwoofer but couldnt find here in crutchfield, would you recommend polk psw111 instead?
martson  Apr 26, 2014
A
Thanks for your input mr. Anthony
martson  Apr 26, 2014
A
Not sure, but I would not recommend this center channel. It had a very hollow and unnatural sound. I ended up returning them.
anthony  Apr 26, 2014
A
Scott says: By "match", you mean other than appearance right? Because there are several pictures and specs. of Polk's TSi series speakers available online, etc.to answer that. So i suppose you mean sonic performance/power handling? Forget about Bose, I suggest Polk's CS10 and at least two TSi 400's for the mains, and possibly two more 400's for the surrounds and two 300's for the rear. My kid has this set-up wired to a Sony STR DA 2800 ES. It sounds fantastic, movies, TV, online stuff, everything sounds great. I like Polk's TSi's because they're built well, sound great, and are inexpensive. Plus Polk doesn't bother trying to get tons of bass from them because I guess they figure you're going to hook them in with a sub,, however I also have a CS20 four TSi 500's, two 400's used as main/surrounds/back wired into an older Sony STR DA 5700, and these put out awesome bass, even at lower listening levels and you don't need high power amps. to drive them. Maybe you don't have the room for all these "bigger" speakers, buy a new home... just kidding. Maybe what you're after is a CS10 and two or four TSi 300's, you'll likely upgrade to the 400's soon. I'd reccommend a SVS subwoofer in there, or two, thanks.

Q
Will the POLK Center channel speakers work well with JAMO HCS 25 Speakers ? In JAMO HCS 25, all the 5 speakers look alike. So was exploring for an exclusive center channel. Please, let me know. Need to make an informed decision
santo  Mar 01, 2014

A
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: The Polk Audio TSi CS10 Center Channel (Black) would be a nice compliment to front left and right speakers in a surround sound system that have woofers and tweeters that are the same size and that are also made from the same material. This will allow the speakers to be voice-matched and reproduce sound in a similar fashion. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.
