About the Metra 70-5520 Receiver Wiring Harness

Metra 70-5520 Wiring Harness

This vehicle-specific wiring harness makes connections between your new car stereo and your car's electrical system.

Metra 70-5520 Wiring Harness

This vehicle-specific wiring harness makes connections between your new car stereo and your car's electrical system.

First, attach the color-coded wires on your Crutchfield-supplied harness to the wires from your new stereo. If you're not using a soldering iron, we recommend that you purchase some wire connectors to secure the connections. Check out our handy article on three ways to connect the wiring harness here.

Now, once this harness is connected to your new stereo, you'll be able to plug right into your car's factory radio connector. This harness saves installation time since you won't have to cut factory wires individually, and this also enables you to re-install the factory radio if needed. A detailed instruction sheet comes with the harness. Warranty: 60 days.

Please read this important note: This harness may not contain provisions for every wire needed to complete your installation, and it will not accommodate special navigation, video, or factory steering wheel control connections. You will need a special adapter if you want your factory steering wheel audio controls to work with your new stereo.

Connections:

  • 12V constant power
  • 12V switched power
  • chassis ground
  • dimmer
  • left front speaker +/-
  • right front speaker +/-
  • left rear speaker +/-
  • right rear speaker +/-

Features

Crutchfield Wiring Harness: Crutchfield wiring harnesses prevent you from having to cut your vehicle's factory radio plug when replacing your factory radio with an aftermarket head unit. Simply solder or crimp the Crutchfield wiring harness to your aftermarket head unit's harness (solder & crimps not included), plug the aftermarket head unit's plug into the rear chassis of the aftermarket head unit, and plug the Crutchfield wiring harness into your vehicle's factory radio plug.

Note: Installation tools, hardware, & accessories are not included & sold separately. Please see the Accessories tab for recommendations & availability.

Wiring Notes: If the Crutchfield wiring harness is not equipped with a ground wire, you will need to ground the aftermarket head unit's ground wire to the metal chassis of your vehicle. Some vehicle's may require you to bypass the vehicle's factory amplifier (in another location from factory radio) or hardwire certain connections. If your vehicle is equipped with factory steering wheel controls, an additional adapter is required & sold separately.

Q
What is the wiring harness model number for the SWC control for a Ford Edge 2008 (8T4T-18C869-AF)?
eric  Oct 13, 2021

A
The ability to retain steering wheel controls with aftermarket receivers will be determined by the receiver you are using and the vehicle you have. For full information on this type of integration (including the parts you will need) please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.

Q
Is the metra 70-5520 the only adapter that I will need to mount a pioneer AVH 120BT in a 2006 ford f150 no factory subwoofer or amp???
kevin wayne  Jul 28, 2021
1 answer
A
There is another or a different wiring harness needed to retain steering wheel radio controls if they are present and the new radio is compatible. Also, a mounting kit is needed. We have advisors that can be reached by calling 1-800-324-9695 who can discuss all this to help you get all the parts needed.

Q
Is this compatable with my factory installed car reciever with navigation which im replacing with kenwood dpx503bt?
towman  Sep 12, 2018
1 answer
A
It's a harness for connection to the stock plug (the one that disconnects from the original factory stereo) in compatible vehicles. The wire leads are provided for connection to an aftermarket stereo's wire harness (packaged with the aftermarket stereo). You can see if it's a recommended option for your vehicle by using the "Find What Fits" application on the main Crutchfield website: https://www.crutchfield.com/car/carselector.aspx?lp=%2fCar%2foutfitmycar%2fmycar.aspx For additional assistance and personalized recommendations, feel free to contact us directly by phone or through our online chat service: https://www.crutchfield.com/support/ContactUs.aspx

Q
Does this harness provide speed and reverse wires for a navigation unit?
ryan douglas  Jun 17, 2018
1 answer
A
The Metra 70-5520 wire harness does not include speed sensor or reverse wire connections for installing a navigation receiver; those would have to be hard-wired directly to your vehicle. For more details or to discuss further, please contact an Advisor directly by phone (888.955.6000) or online chat. Thanks!

Q
will this mate to a pbt-gf30 connector? My Crown Victoria had a stock CD Player with it.
jason  Jun 22, 2016

A
I'm not familiar with the part number you've quoted. This Metra harness is made to plug onto the factory connector (the one that disconnects from the back of the original factory stereo) in compatible vehicles and provide the leads for connection to the wires of an aftermarket stereo's wiring harness (packaged with the aftermarket stereo): http://www.crutchfield.com/learn/three-ways-to-connect-your-receivers-wiring-harness.html?search=Three_ways I hope that helps.
