Features

Vehicle Compatibility: The Metra Turbo Kit 2 (99-3303) is designed specifically for select 2004-2009 Chevy and Pontiac vehicles. The 99-3303 allows you to replace your GM factory stereo with an aftermarket stereo to improve the overall sound quality of your car audio system. The Metra Turbo Kit 2 (99-3303) is compatible with the following vehicles.

Make Model Year
Chevy Malibu 2004-2007
Cobalt 2004-2006
Pontiac G6 2005-2009

Automotive Install Kit w/ Integrated LCD: The installation kit features a recessed opening that will fit most single-DIN aftermarket head units. The kit features high-grade ABS plastic and is contoured to match your vehicle's factory dashboard color and texture. The integrated LCD retains temperature, fuel, oil, and door opening warnings. You can adjust the contrast and brightness of the display. The install kit also includes three soft-touch buttons (Info/Menu/Enter) with changeable LED backlighting (amber or green).

Wiring Harness: The Metra Turbo Kit 2 (99-3303) also includes the wiring harness which connects to the install kit, your vehicle's factory radio harness, and your new aftermarket head unit. The 10- and 12-pin clear connectors of the harness plug into the back of the installation kit, while the 24-pin blue connector plugs into your vehicle's factory radio harness. On vehicles equipped with OnStar, connect the 12-pin black connector the factory OnStar harness. The un-terminated wire leads will need to be spliced or crimped onto your new aftermarket head unit's wiring harness (installation tools and accessories sold separately).

Retained Accessory Power (R.A.P.): The ignition power source of most GM vehicles keeps the radio on until one of the doors is opened. This feature is called the R.A.P. (retained accessory power). The 99-3303 is designed to retain this feature.

OnStar Compatible: The Metra Turbo Kit 2 (99-3303) is designed to retain the factory OnStar emergency services system that would normally be lost when your factory radio is replaced by an aftermarket head unit. You can adjust the volume of the OnStar announcements from the kit's soft-touch buttons.

Customer Q&A

Q
If I am installing an aftermarket amp and subs should I use the power antenna wire from the head unit or the pwr antenna wire from the metra? Or...do I splice both power antenna wires into one wire back to the amp? This is something that has next to no information to be found on the whole internet.

We provide lifetime Technical Support with all products purchased from Crutchfield, Christopher. This is a huge bonus when shopping with us, as we are always here to help! You will want to connect your radio's amp turn on wire (most likely blue) to the Blue/White wire on the Metra 99-3303 dash and wiring kit. That wire must be connected for the interface to function. You will need to make a 3-way splice at that connection with the 12v turn-on wire that is going back to your amp. I hope this helps and remember to always get your gear from Crutchfield because we have your back!

Do I need this if I have a driver info below my dials w/ controls on my steering wheel?

The ability to retain steering wheel controls with aftermarket receivers will be determined by the receiver you are using and the vehicle you have. For full information on this type of integration (including the parts you will need) please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.

It shows all the info that you radio does currently in your car. It's a great information center converter

I bought mine for my '05 Malibu Maxx. Works great. As far as being able to see if the convertible top is open or closed, I would suggest either turning your head or looking up. Aside from that, if you feel rain hitting your face, you should pull over and put the top up. '02 Z28 'vert' owner here.

Q
What features does this keep within the radio. Like if I don't get this will I lose my oil reading and mileage readings??? That's all I really want to keep I don't have onstar so that's not a big deal.

It does display oil percentage reading, as well as TripA, and TripB. It will also show fuel economy. And it will be just as inaccurate as the stereo display was. '05 Malibu Maxx here. The top button is a PITA, BTW.

Hi, i bought this not to loose my infos. I can see oil reading, there is mileage, avg speed, fuel economy reading, still see how many miles my fuel last and so on. I like it, like other people wrote, buttons not respond so well, but i can deal with it.

Hi Ivori H, When I installed this, I maintained every menu option and piece of info that I had before. This kit simply moves the display and buttons into a different area. The major issue I have with this is the buttons need to be pressed extra hard to register the press. Otherwise, this has worked extremely well for me.

You will lose your oil life, fuel economy info and other information if you do not get the adaptor.

Yes, I did a lot of research before purchasing this part and if you have a GM car with the car's computer in the radio then you need this part. It is called the Drivers Information Center and it HAS to be in the car somewhere. This not only controls the mileage and oil readings, but also controls the alarms, horn and a myriad of other things. At least as of the time I purchased this (a little over a year ago), this was the only solution to keeping all of the information required. Also, I read many forum postings about how if you don't have this, there is a 50/50 chance the car either won't start of your car alarm will not work properly. I decided not to chance it and installed this piece with a Kenwood stereo for Bluetooth connectivity. This thing is actually not all that nice, the buttons are very mushy and take 4-5 presses to get to cycle, and it does not look all that great, but it was worth it to get a nice stereo.

You keep all that stuff. Not sure how accurate the oil readings are. But they are both still there if you install correctly.
