Features
Overview: The PAC SWI-CAN Steering Wheel Radio Control Interface is an add-on module for use with the PAC SWI-RC steering wheel control interface (541SWIRC, sold separately) when installing a compatible aftermarket radio into select vehicles that feature steering wheel controls. It allows you to keep steering wheel controls that use a dual wire CAN bus to control the factory radio. The SWI-CAN interprets and converts steering wheel control data to signals the SWIC adapter, allowing you to replace your factory stereo with an aftermarket deck and continue to use your factory steering wheel controls.
Rotary Switch: The SWI-CAN interface has a rotary switch that needs to be adjusted to match the vehicle it is being installed in. The rotary switch has settings from 0 to 9.
Connections: The SWI-CAN interface has an attached 3" eleven-pin harness that plugs into the optional steering wheel adapter (SWI-RC) which is sold separately. The interface also contains a female 11-pin connector on the other side of the interface that the supplied detachable 7" harness, using the 11-pin male connector end, plugs into. On the other end of this same harness is a 6-pin plug that plugs into an optional C2R interface (sold separately) which attaches to the vehicle's factory harness. If you do not use the optional C2R interface you can also hardwire this connection to your vehicle's factory wiring.
Note: There are 6 bare-tinned wire leads coming out of the detachable 11-pin harness that are not used. There is a sticker wrapped around these wires stating - "These Wires Not Used For Steering Wheel Interface!"
Wiring Advisory: You'll usually have to hardwire this adapter into your vehicle's wiring. In most vehicles, the factory radio plug does not have a wire dedicated to the steering wheel audio controls, so splicing & soldering is often required. PAC does provide custom wiring instructions for all confirmed compatible vehicles on their website.
