Overview Details Customer Reviews Category Info Accessories Our take on the PAC SWI-ECL2 by Zak Billmeier What does a steering wheel audio control adapter do? Many people aren't thrilled with the sound of their car's factory radio, but don't want to replace it because they'll lose those convenient audio controls on the steering wheel. For most vehicles, you can purchase an adapter that allows you to use those controls to run a new car stereo, so now you can have great sound and convenience too. Even cooler, if your new stereo has iPod controls, you can use your steering wheel controls to run your iPod. Installation Note: Some newer vehicles require a special interface for this installation. Click here or call an Advisor at 1-888-955-6000 to see if you need an interface to install this steering wheel control adapter in your vehicle. You want to install an Eclipse stereo in your vehicle, but you hate to give up the convenience of your factory steering wheel radio controls. No problem. PAC's SWI-ECL2 interface allows you to use the steering wheel controls in a wide variety of vehicles to command select Eclipse radios. Installation is straightforward just connect a few wires, only 3 wires in many cars. The direct connection to the stereo means there's no need for an infrared emitter, allowing the SWI-ECL to function even in bright sunlight. Step-by-step LED confirmation makes programming easy. Once connected, the SWI-ECL's failsafe memory will learn up to 5 stereo functions, retaining them even if battery power is interrupted. Warranty: 1 year. Important Note: Please enter your vehicle information or call an Advisor at 1-888-955-6000 to find out if this model is compatible with your vehicle. On some vehicles, you may need a voltmeter to locate the correct wires to connect to the SWI-ECL2. If you have no car audio installation experience, you should consider professional installation. The SWI-ECL2 is compatible with most 2005-up Eclipse stereos that are steering remote-ready, but please call or e-mail us to confirm compatibility with your radio. Crutchfield Customer Review The reviewer purchased this item from us, verified by the email address on the order. It works like a charm, quick and easy to install. Just follow the instruction from PAC's website. You'll need a 5100 resistor to get the mode button to work. Small delay when pressing the button but I can live with that. 2 out of 2 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? The steering wheel controller is something nice to have and this was the only way to allow me to keep the controller with an aftermarket deck. The install was very easy. Inside the package there is a link to PAC's website that tells what wire to use for your specific car, a very detail instruction on how to install it. There are two minor thing that I don't like about it. First, there is a delay when you press the button. Like when you press the button to turn it up, it will turn it up in a sec or two. Not much, but annoying a little bit. The other thing was that it was not able to control the "mode" button on my steering wheel. The mode button allows me to change from CD to radio and stuff like that. Since the new deck has so many different modes, I don't want to cycle through them all just to get to the radio. 9 out of 9 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Crutchfield Customer Review The reviewer purchased this item from us, verified by the email address on the order. I was getting frustrated with this accessory with my 2003 Xterra and an Eclipse AVN2210P. I hooked it up and only two buttons worked, Mode and TrackUp. I did some online research and someone suggested reversing the connection of the brown and white wires with the Eclipse harness. It worked like magic! I successfully programmed all five buttons on my steering wheel controls. This tip wasn't in the instructions. Was this review helpful?
