Pioneer

Our take on the Pioneer CD-iU50 iPod Connection Cable

Use the optional CD-iU50 cable to connect your iPod to select Pioneer stereos with "uBus" USB control. You can leave your original iPod USB cable in the house, and keep the CD-iU50 cable in your car at all times. This cable only supports audio playback — it will not transfer video to your receiver. Warranty: 1 year.

Compatibility Note: Be sure to check "Hands-on Research" for specific iPod model compatibility with this iPod adapter.

Features

Overview: The Pioneer CD-IU50 is an interface cable that allows you to plug your iPod/iPhone into a Pioneer head unit with a USB input for audio playback, control, and charging. It is virtually the same USB-to-iPod cable as the one that comes with your iPod/iPhone, allowing you to leave your original cable at home.

Compatibility: The CD-IU50 cable is compatible with Pioneer head units that feature a USB one-wire iPod/iPhone direct input.

iPod Compatibility: The Pioneer CD-iU50 iPod Audio Direct Cable is "Made for iPod/iPhone" compatible and supports the following iPod/iPhone model functions when connected to a compatible Pioneer multimedia head unit (as of 1/18/2012):

Note: Apple iPod/iPhone software updates may change functionality results. If you download a newer software version, you may need to reset the head unit and your iPod/iPhone to regain functionality. If this doesn't work, you may need to revert to the older software version or wait until a newer software update is available.

Connector Cover: The dock connector end of the cable has an attached cover to protect the connector from dirt or damage.

You get exactly what is in the description...

Written By Chad, Gadsden, Alabama on Friday, October 24, 2008

The item description clearly states exactly what you will receive...it tells you that the adapter is just like the OEM one that comes with your iPod, but this cable allows you to use it in your car, while leaving and using the OEM cable at home...that way, you don't have to constantly switch-out the cables. And since most head-units have the USB socket in the rear, you only want to have to hook the cable up once.

Now...if you need a longer cable, all you have to do is either go buy a simple USB extension-cable, or go buy a simple male/female-cable in whatever length you need.

It's a cable, it either works or it doesn't. I have eyes and can see the picture, and have enough education to be able to read so I know that it's just an iPod to USB cable and wasn't expecting anything more. If anything I would have wanted less cable. I routed the cable into the cubby under the stereo and just plug the iPod in there.

Its a nice, strudy iPod cable with a dust cap on the iPod adapter. But thats all it is! If it were not free with my stereo I would be pretty angry about the price! You can use any USB iPod cable with an iPod compatible Pioneer that connects by USB...

This is a great product but pretty short if you are installing a receiver in your car. I had to get an extension in order for the cord to be long enough to fit into my ipod which I hold in a cupholder mount just below the receiver. I was lucky enough that my installer had a short USB extension and he put it in without me being aware that I needed one. It functions just as advertized.

Ehh its a cable

Written By Chad, Lakeport, Ca on Tuesday, October 14, 2008

yeah it works fine, even for my Ipod touch. But im not too happy spending this much for it really. But, with my P4000UB pioneer stereo, it makes my life a whole lot easier.

Product is fine, however, the cap that covers the one end is cheaply made. Will not stay
on . It is made of a very thin plastic. It should be made of rubber so it would stay on the
plug better.

I bought this thinking it would be a special cable to hook my iPod up to my new Pioneer stereo. It's just the same as the cable that came with my iPod, except it doesn't seem as sturdy.
